Justin, that size mesh you won't catch much of anything in it you need wire 1/2 that size. One other thing you have a funnel on each corner on the bottom of that trap that's correct. On your bait you just throw your bait in the trap because you want your bait to be on the bottom that's where ya crawfish are on the bottom. Your trap doesn't lay on the bottom, it stands straight up and down and your top is supposed to be like you have it where you can open at least a top corner to turn your trap over to dump ya crawfish. That small wire is expensive, years ago I paid $300 for a 100' roll x 3' wide. Please pull up some Louisiana crawfishing videos and you will see what I'm trying to tell you my brother.
Brody is just like my grand daughters,one 9 months and one just shy of 3 years old. They are just so CHILDISH! My youngest granddaughter acts just like a BABY most of the time!!. These kids nowadays don't take a thing in the world seriously! I bet Brody hadn't gave a single thought to his 401 K all year, and here it is almost Tax Season!. I have scolded little Audrey and her sissy Amelia about all their childish ways, but it's like they don't even hear me. To be honest that 9 month old gal acts just like a baby at times!! Not a bit of business sense to her at all!!. She ain't even serious about growin any TEETH!! Only got three of em, and that rascal has the nerve to BITE my chin with em. Eats her mama and daddy out of house and home, and don't bring in a dime towards the light bill!! These modern kids these days!!! When I was 9 months old, I had a full time job!! These gals is just Play, Play, Play. Can't get em to plow. Can't get em to quilt. Neither one knows how to make sorghum molasses, they cain't cook.. I just don't know what the world is comin to! I hope ol Brody takes up the wood bustin axe soon and earns a few dollars for his Mans to be ready in case we get invaded this summer. He's a good soldier, I gotta give him that. And a tolerable good EXavater as well!.... Good luck on y'alls traps. Good ol live bait is the best bait

Back when I was coming up we would run trot lines we would use gold fish they made good bait and stay alive longer

I use bacon in my traps, catch a ton crawfish
Justin, use a small block of white Styrofoam for bait in those small cages. It'll catch bait fish. The fish are attracted to the color white.
