This was another bargain carboot find. Like a lot of things we take for granted, this would have been a high tech marvel a couple of decades ago, but now you can get it in all the usual places at pocketmoney prices!
I do wonder what you could do with the audio output though?

Since its piezoelectric I wonder if it could be used for the headphones for a crystal radio which in some forms some people think it's free electricity

You are absolutely correct, it would be fascinating. You could have a probe on the RX and one on the TX

i get the fetal part, but what has it got to do with the doppler effect ??
I believe that is the general term used for effect these kinds of devices use to measure the time in flight of the audio signal.
