This film really changed Indian cinema and gave it global recognition. Tujhe Dekha(song) is played in cities, villages, etc in Nigeria which is thousands of miles away from India. Fantastic acting, really Kajol and shahrukh should be really proud because no indian movie will ever reach the level this movie has reached.
Definitely known for being an example of “world cinema” by cinephiles. Other World cinema is the likes of Oldboy from S Korea and City of Gods from Brazil or let the right one in from Sweden or chunking express from hong kong or battle Doyle from India so DDLJ being of that calibre is remarkable also.

Its a legendry movie!! I have watched it since my childhood and watch it even now with the same enthusiasm.. After I came to study in Germany I knew the impact of this movie world-wide.. People are mad, crazy about DDLJ about SRK about Kajol.. there is just no limit. And one personal experience I remember is that I was dressed up in indian wear going to attend a friend's party and this german guy in the elevator packed with people looked at me and started singing "Tujhe dekha toh ye jaana sanam" and I was speechless.. I love DDLJ, I love every bit of it and yes I danced in a towel on "Mere khwabon mein jo aaye"

I understand story actors direction makes the film but half of the credit goes to Jatin Lalit duo. Without the Music there cannot be DDLJ. This composer is the reason half of SRK movies or other actors are iconic because its the music , bgm which makes us feel the way we feel. They are so underrated.
Not even Indian.....but my late Mom was a fan of AB and my late GrandMama was a fan of the Kapoor clan. I could not be bothered with Bollywood movies....until I heard the OST of DDLJ......as I passed by a cinema hall that was screening the movie. I was curious.....and sneaked in....that scene in the field of yellow flowers............and that deep dimple of SRK...and that unibrow of Kajol.......left a deep impression on me......XD I went back to my correct cinema hall....and went back to watch DDLJ the following week with my family.....and I became a fan.

I especially love the making of the bed scene because it just makes my heart flip at the sight of both of them.
