Very educational and fascinating to see how and why you integrate these art filters. Also how you consider the viewer's response. eg white boat as an anchor for the viewer's eyes, instead of blue. What you do and why you do, is what makes this so helpful. Love the finished product, especially the light, color and smooth serene water. Thank you Jim.
This is the type of video I've been looking forward to you doing. You really got me on this one. I've been playing with Topaz Studio to create digital paintings but I was not getting the results I wanted. Now I look forward to trying your workflow as a starting point. But there always seems to be one person that doesn't like any of your videos. I guess just like in retail, there's always one person you can't please. :-) Thanks for sharing. YOU ARE AWESOME my friend!!!
Thanks for the kind words Tim, I really appreciate that. And of course I am glad to hear that you liked this video, and I do hope that it helps! I don't worry about the dislikes though - it happens - just as long as my likes far outweigh them. Thanks again!
Hi Jim, my favs in the artistic filters are Impression & Smudge (which is my first choice). Sometimes, not so often i use Glow. Have a great day !😎 Mike
I've had some major computer problems with Luminar 4 & now Luminar AI which skylum are trying to sort, on a non bias choice which is you favourite photo editor (best for a keen hobbyist photographer) Thanks.
Hi Dave and sorry to hear about your computer problems, and hope they get resolved really soon. I actually think Luminar AI is the best for a hobbyist who just wants great results and not a lot of technical "fiddling around". I know you didn't say that part, so not sure that applies to you, but Luminar AI offers a lot of power and flexibility without a lot of deep technical stuff required to achieve those results. Outside of that, I would look at On1 (although there is a lot of technical stuff you can do there if you want), Pixelmator Pro (Mac only), and even Exposure X6. Hope that helps and thanks.
Thanks for the great walkthrough Jim. Nice job. Before this, after my somewhat limited noodling with images in Studio and in Impressions (I bought the app separately in the past) I've always just thought of filters like Abstraction ("Hey, that looks like a comic book!") and Impression ("Hey, that looks like a painting!") as separate things. Now I've got a new way to look at things: using them together along with other filters like Smudge. Keep up the good work!
Thanks much Grant and hope it helps. I used to always view them as separate and distinct as well, but once I started blending them I really liked it, and it seemed like a good idea to share. :-) Thanks for watching!
Thanks again for your video. I really ejoy your explain how to use this artistic filters in a photo edeting workflow. .. I really enjoy to flollow your channel.
Thanks for this, Jim! Two questions: I can't find a video about the "Looks" feature. Do you have one? Next question: Is Studio 2 as miserably slow as Topaz's other products? (after adding your promo code, there is no free trial option)
Hi Paul and thanks. Sadly Topaz is not updating Studio anymore so I no longer cover it. It is essentially dead as far as I know. I am not sure if I ever covered Looks because it has been a long time since I have used Studio, based on my previous comment. And no it was never that slow to me. thanks
Hi Jim, I loved the tutorial video, really great stuff!! I am a newbie in Topaz ( on a 30 day trial ) referred by a new friend of mine Tim Costin, in NC and he referred me to you. I am a photographer in North Carolina, and I just love what I've seen so far with Topaz, but I seem to be having a slight issue with Topaz, which I've sent a few emails over to their support team, and still waiting to hear back from them. It seems that some of the files after I've had them in Topaz, and when I upload to Photoshop and Illustrator are all compressed, and they look like they might be corrupt, it's that type of look, and I really don't know what to do about it. I do have the latest versions of Photoshop and Illustrator, and I'm on the latest version of Mac OS as well. I even contacted Adobe multiple times, they are telling me that the files are corrupted from the software :-0 I didn't know if you've ever experienced anything like this before using Topaz? I'd love to get some feed back. Thanks so much Jim, really nice work, and nice video. :-) - Steve Sampson
Hi Steve and thanks but I am afraid I am not much help on this one. I have not experienced this, so not sure what to advise. Perhaps save the file as a TIFF from Topaz then bring into PS? That is assuming you were going straight between the apps as a plugin. I don't know but maybe saving off as a file might help? Thanks for watching and sorry I can't be of more assistance with this.
No, they dropped support and updates a couple of years ago, and also quit selling it. I don't know of any other app that's like this one was. Which is a shame because so many people loved this app, including me.
Brilliant I’m hooked can’t wait ti give it a go thank you for sharing

Another illuminating tute. Thanks Jim.
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching Rob!
I like to do a mix of Simplify and photo. That's given me some marvelous results.
Thanks Theo and yes I always find Simplify is a nice add, esp when combined with some regular filters.
Terrific video Jim! I love creating painterly images & will certainly try your workflow.
Thanks for watching Ilene and hope that it helps!

Nice tuto. And don't forget AI Remix and Rostami tuto about it :-)
Thanks Marc and I am not familiar with that but will go search for it and check it out. Thanks!
When editing a photo in Topaz Studio, when I go to save it, I get a message it will overnight the original. Can this be reversed?
Is this program still available? Or is there something similar?
No, they dropped support and updates a couple of years ago, and also quit selling it. I don't know of any other app that's like this one was. Which is a shame because so many people loved this app, including me.
@@JimNix oh my that's terrible. Thanks for your response!
@@snead1 yeah it's a shame but they are focused on other things now
@@JimNix curious. So does the program still work for those that purchased it?
@@snead1 yes it still works for me, but I am sure at some point there will be an OS update on my Mac that will not be supported.
pena que foi descontinuado
yes I agree, I really liked the product
