Lucked into a second hand G11 G2 a week ago, have to get a pier setup for it - but even on the bench it's an amazing piece of kit quality is so good! loving all the helpful info on your channel - thanks
Hey Ed - thanks for the kind comments and welcome to the family. We definitely take pride in our products and quality. Hopefully you are also watching our playlist on New Mount setup, the playlist is here ruclips.net/p/PLeM-apAbabi33UIBYaF05rvBbmZQ8rYBR
From a huge Losmandy fan, I appreciate you guys taking the time to do these fun and informative podcasts. Cool to see the man that started it all, too!
One way of saying what the celestial equator is: it's the stars that you would see if you lived on the equator and looked straight up. And the celestial north pole is the point you would see if you lived at the North Pole (with Santa) and looked straight up.
Love the videos - Sorry I keep missing the live shows. Sorry, if this has been asked before, but are there any plans to move to belt driven gear box options?
Hi Timm, thanks for watching! the show is prerecorded right now, but hit the notify bell and you'll know when we go live and when new videos drop. We have looked at belt drives and continue to evaluate all technologies, but so far it seems belts create more issues than they solve right now.
Another quality and fun podcast. Can you please say a few words someday about G2 software (firmware) upgrades? When was the last update, and do you contact users through the newsletter when updates are available?
Thanks for the kind words Dave. I was just talking to a fellow kiwi and he was saying it's all clouds in NZ right now :( he got some time on the atacama scope and was happy :)
@@LOSMANDY yes, rather cloudy down here at the moment. Would be great to have a remote setup high on the Atacama. That was probably Simon 🙂He was chasing time on one of the Chile telescopes 🔭
Thank you for all the good shows. Do you have any info on the ASIair pro compatible w g11g and gemini 2 for polar align?. Do you recommend it or something else better. This comes w ipad functionality thru wifi.
Hi Thang - Thanks for your kind words :) Yes the Gemini works with the ASIAir Pro. I'd highly recommend joining our Gemini 2 user group and search the archives. There are some good discussions on compatibility and recommended settings groups.io/g/Gemini-II/. The downside of ASIAir Pro is that it only works with ZWO products and is fairly limited when it comes to fine tuning settings like guiding. We use and love Sequence Generator Pro www.sequencegeneratorpro.com/ there are also a lot of fans of NINA nighttime-imaging.eu/
Wish someone would coin a term for the southern median and celestial equator intersection already - e.g. the SMEQ point. Would also be nice if the Gemini 2 had a one click button to take you there. Also, maybe you could clone in Ed McMahon's voice for "Live from Burbank", like he used to do for Johnny :).
Hi Sean - thanks for watching, it's not live yet, but it's coming :) Brian: We were just talking with Isaac on some backfocus issues on the 80, he's a great guy. PEC is on the list, for sure
Hi Bob - Please call Tanya at the main shop number 747-283-1075 - she can give you up-to-the-minute lead times. Definitely call before Happy Hour because not much happens after that :)
Hi Thad - great question. The answer right now is maybe - we are looking at that. It would need to use Gemini 2 so whatever mount it's installed on would require that
I'm surprised that your 80mm Stellarvue can work with a full frame camera. You might have a different focuser than what I have on my 80ED. I was told that the 80ED would not cover the full size of the chip. So I bought the Stellarvue SVQ100 to use with my full frame camera.
That's a great point - we contacted them directly and said "it's FULL frame" - they recommended this 80mm www.stellarvue.com/svx080t-3ft-deposit/ and also hand picked the flattener. Since then, they've really improved their optics by bringing them in house. I think they have a revised formulation of the flattener we'd love to switch to.
Great to see you all in the podcast and hello from the UK
Hi John! Nice to see we are reaching folks across the pond :) Let us know if you have any requests for topics, etc.

Great episode, can't wait for next week!
great podcast....you two guys should have a talkshow on national tv.......
Hi Daniel - Tanya says "Have somebody contact us. we are ready!" Brian says "ummmmmm" :) :)

Yeah it can be confusing for sure. We mentioned in our podcast, there are already a couple options to do this automatically. it's worth checking out!
What Up People. I keep missing the live show. Got caught up chatting with Issac at Stellarvue. What a great guy! PEC video coming soon... Right?
Its not "Live" yet so you are missing the live version.

I'd like to know what the current lead time is for a GM-SSM? Can I get one by happy hour time? :>)

Will the mentioned encoders be usable on an older GM-100 or GM-150?

What ever ha;penned to the RUclips about programming PEC w PemPro?
Hi Wandering - it's still on the list to do, we're just firming up some of the details with external apps.
