      if I remember the Cessna has a crosswind limitation of 17 Kts! We pilots knew he will never do it.
      In fact the 172 take off speed is at 55 Kts so if you have a 48 kt nose wind for example you are only 7 kts from your takeoff!
      Think about it!

    I’m a retired trial lawyer, so I dealt with some bizarre personalities. I watch these videos to observe how nice people interact with each other. What a great example you set for actual civil society. Thank you and marry the girl soon. It took me three tries to get the right one and I note Chelsea is one of the “right” ones. Make it soon. She’s too valuable to dither. Apologies for the personal observation; nobody’s business but yours. However, time is of the essence.

    I just found your site and the video of flying into SLO, so had to follow along with your video and description. I started flying in SLO in 1953 as San Luis was then my home town. That airport has sure changed! For the better for sure. I'm no longer current but definitely still an aviation nut. Now days my hangar is at Ranchaero Airport (CL56) next to Chico, CA. I still have my Fairchild PT-26 which a couple friends fly for me. If you are this way please say hello!

    You identified that the C130’s wake would drift right but did not act on that info. If the crosswind is low and/or my departure is soon after a large aircraft’s departure I request a dogleg towards the incoming wind direction to make sure their wake and my plane do not intersect.

    “Clear prop” is old school. The rotating beacon is the alert of starting an engine…

    • @Aviation101
      @Aviation101  Месяц назад +1

      @@chuckgroel1221 I completely disagree. Rotating beacon could be on for many reasons other than “about to start the engine.” Plus, the beacon doesn’t make any sound to alert those around who aren’t looking. What I laugh about, though, is the people who yell “clear prop” and engage the starter a half second later leaving no time for anyone to get out of the way. Always yell “clear prop,” wait about 5 seconds or so, THEN engage the starter. Hope this helps!

    Josh, a big HELLO from CYQT. 🇨🇦👋
    WOW .. absolutely LOVE your videos.
    Love the narration, how you draw us in, like we are all in the plane experiencing the flight with you.👍👍
    As a student pilot with 54 hours I really appreciate and enjoy how you go thru ALL your check lists. At times you give a brief explanation of why you did something, or the importance and significance of a step in the check list and if missed how it could negatively effect the flight ... or the order in which you did it and the importance of that ... all the way from planning, preflight to tie down and every thing in between.
    Look forward to future videos.
    ALWAYS entertaining, enjoyable and educational.
    THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge of General Aviation to the world and helping us become better and safer pilots! 👍🇨🇦👍

    I lived at Avila Camper Park off Highway 101 back in the 1970's. One morning before classes at Cal Poly. I heard aircraft in the distance and heard some kind of crash. There was a midair collision a few miles North around South Higuera road. I drove up there and climbed the hill West of 101 and saw airplane parts on the hill. I saw rescue vehicles arrive and pointed them toward the area with the aircraft parts on the hill. That was a weird morning. I don't know what happened but the event got stuck in my mind. It's a beautiful area.

    Josh, I’m not sure you made it clear enough for novice pilots (a bunch of whom watch you for advice) that you are relocating for IMPENDING weather. ATIS advises us it’s gusting to 19kts on your departure and reports 7kts at SBP, but I think a lot of novices and students might miss that and think you are cavalierly flying your Cessna into a 48kt weather system when you have other options.

    • @Aviation101
      @Aviation101  2 месяца назад

      Hi Barry. Yes, I made it very clear the situation and reason for relocating in the video. It’s all in the voiceovers and dialogue. If the audience chooses to skip over the voiceovers and dialogue and go straight to the flight with no context, I can’t control that.

    This was a spectacular video of a short evening flight up the coast to SLO. I did my "long XC" from Napa County Airport to SLO back in 1975 when I was a high school kid learning to fly. Hope you return to California and further explore the northern part of the state, in and around the Bay Area. Some of my best flying memories are "sunset" flights over the coast, the GG Bridge, esp. when the scattered clouds and fog roll in. What a superb "training video" on checklists. I see too many that don't use them or simply go by memory.
