My mom's friend gave me a giant Yamaha guitar speaker amp combo from the 70's. I use it for playing RUclips music. It's so loud and clear I can't believe it . All I did for the speaker is help her move some things.
Love your work and those speakers look fantastic. To think you can get a couple hundred dollars for parts and compete with a $3,800 set of speakers. Now, how about a subwoofer!
I've also built a pair 5 years ago and can vouch for the fantastic music they produce. Connected to Marantz PM6007, they sound heavenly. Regards from Malaysia.
@@MasterofPlay7 Not sure what you mean, but I thoroughly enjoy them! The sound stage was fantastic, and yes, maybe 3D. But hollowness?? Don't think so. All I know is I did not have to fork out $3,800 for them! And I enjoyed building them. Also, sharpened my carpentry skills and knowledge. That's what DIY is all about!
@@ncteng8002 good for you, you should get the fm300a clone recommended by the German guy, my cheap Sony towers get that effect after I switched the amp
Pro-level woodworking, you've obviously done this many times. The aesthetics are truly great. Congrats! But we can't actually listen to how they should from here, how about a bit more science and testing? A graph of the measured audio levels from 20-20KHz and the amount of distortion would be a good start.
ive often thought about building some cabinets since i have a pair of the 7 inch daytons and i have two pairs of the 8 inch and i have a pair of 8 inch peerless sls and those babies would get down,i have a pair of the dayton epique 7 inch i havent made my mind up about these yet,i think i like the peerless sls better,im bored and was thinking about doing something lol.the 8 inch would be pretty big enclosures so i would probably make them more deep than tall, nice little system you built i like the old school tube amp
Im really happy when i heard the output sound, its really amazing simple setup.please it you can send me all the detail about your work, ill like to make my own set here in the Phillippines.thank you so much👌❤👌
Well done, but I'd really like to know how good they are compared to off the shelf speakers? Could someone put them in a class comparison or product comparison?
These are basically a DIY cousin to the Spendor A4 which retail for approximately $3800 USD/pair. In my opinion, they hold their own against the Spendors, especially given the price difference.
Nice speakers you have built Donny. Shame the amp has a terrible SNR of around 80dB and a THD of 0,5%. My cheap vintage Marantz is old but with 110dB and 0,01% would really open them up for comparisan... but hey yours looks much better, thats for sure
Loved the build video for these speakers but perhaps vocal or orchestral/piano music should have been used for this demo? Overdoing the bass makes them sound rather 'muddy'.
AWESOME !!!. you've done a great job. it is very rewarding to build your own. they sound amazing on my small computer's speakers . but i'm sure they even sound much better in the flesh . Kudos.
Please keep in mind that there is no way that a digitally compressed file (from RUclips) played through your listening device will give you an accurate representation of the speakers.
Congratulations very good work. I saw the two videos related the speakers. I have a question; After aprox. a year what is your opinion about the Dayton amplifier. did you had another one to compare it? Thanks. Best regards from Colombia.
Hi, thank you for checking out my videos. I like the amplifier's tone and the control knobs. Has plenty of bass and power range for these speakers. The sound quality is quite good for the price. The only drawback to me is the noisy fan that kicks in once audio is played at slightly higher volume and there is some hiss in the background with no audio being played. Other than that the Dayton amplifier is a decent amp indeed, with great looks if you like the tube design.
I purchased high end speakers and equipment once - it sounded horrible - tinny highs and rumbling base. Garbage... I purchased some low end Sylvannia speakers and they made the music exciting again... not super loud but super enjoyable and easy to hear the highs and the beat.
Hi sir Donny your Diy speaker is amazing ,but the set up of your speaker is not quite good on the wooden stage i think ,it should be on the floor, its banging & annoying sounds when you play music..
and where are the tests? if these are tests, then this is shit, not tests where is the frequency response? Where are the distortions? where is the impulse response? where's the waterfall?
There is no joy as compared to handmade own DIY. Congrats buddy. Love from India.
Very well said! Thank you a lot!
Me: *listening through my phone's speakers*
Also me: "Yep, that's a good sounding speaker!"

Cool, they sound just like my headphones I'm wearing right now.
Sounds tinny to me.
Very droll

Your attention to detail in building these is commendable. Sounds pretty great through decent headphones. Might have chosen a different amplifier.
Thank you! Truly means a lot. Needless to say the sound recording can only give a glimpse of the actual sound produced.
diy projects are always the best and so satisfying.
i can feel the base trough my earphones 👌, good work Bro.

Many thanks! Truly means a lot.
I would love to have the measurements included but currently I am limited by my equipment.
Gorgeous towers. Sound is good through my head phones. Great work.
Many thanks! Ain't easy to transmit the actual sound quality with my primitive equipment, but they do sound really well for the price.
Spearkers with ports in the back need to be well away from the wall behind. Nice job on the cabinets.
Thank you!

Thanks! Much appreciated.

Very good speakers but for amp recommend DHT both pre and power tubes, will improve sound.

Thank you kindly! Indeed these speakers are enjoyed to this day.
Muy bueno! saludos
hello.. for this i can put 2 way car audio with this box ?
It sounds like a rock sound setting no matter what the song genre is.
Likely due to the tube amp :) That's a pretty big variable when trying to see how they sound and they are powered by something so different.
Please keep in mind that there is no way that a digitally compressed file (from RUclips) played through your listening device will give you an accurate representation of the speakers.
whats your favorite speaker for music of all you built?
I noticed you changed the back red button. Did that change the ohms?
I wanna one of these for mysejf!!!
Your recorded volume is too low. I had to turn the vol up to 100, but they do sound really good.
How does this compare to Klipsch?

these speakers are floorstanders!!!
What was your tuning frequency?
Nice work on the boxes look great
Thanks!
These are tuned to 39Hz.
very good sound
Thank you!
bluetooth tube amp.. omg :D
could you measure the frequency response?
Would love to if I had the equipment.
Are there any advantage of the tubes. I haven't seen vaccum tubes as this in quite some time.
Hard to tell since I don't own many amplifiers to compare. Though I would agree with the 'warm' sound of the tubes as advertised.
do you get that 3d sound stage and center imaging?
No

Is there a way to connect this speaker to a phone? Just a silly question since im kinda new...
Since these are passive speakers, you need an amplifier to power them. You can connect your phone to the amplifier.
Were you using this up with these speakers? there's a lot of good bass
Yes!
I would like to order one if you are ready to build.
Why are they up in the air?

Wish I could hear the video.
Whaaaaaaaat 😃
I would reccomend you soundtest your videos before uploading them...
The speakers today are not as good as the old ones

The speach in the video is too low volume
Thats because the demo was bass boosted on purpose to make the speakers sound better than they actually are

Sound test.....in other video....nop..!!!
Too bad it has volume contro
Is that bad?
Needs a subwhoofer
They actually sound amazing without a subwoofer since they play really low (approx 34Hz).
at 34hz these will be down by around 6db which is a full octave @@DonnyTerek

You used a bad mic, didn't you?
No he just bass boosted the video
