I REALLY DO appreciate you taking the time to provide these stories they leave me on the edge of my seat. I feel the rush as if i were there myself. You’ve clearly got a gift for communicating this type of stuff. Please Stay safe out there!

@O R yeah his stories are very true. He would be called out by fellow guides that know him if he was being dishonest. He's telling these stories on the inner web for a few years. So any of you self ritchous stuck up snobs don't believe him it's because in all actuality it's hard for you to believe it's genuine because you have The ultimate example of boring lives so you wanna spoil it for anyone actually doing something with the Life God blessed The other person with. ;) So kick Rock's snobs.

@O R If u are confident with the veracity of his stories while hunting,&Fishing etc(and from the very little I know about this dude, this is his life). It would appear he spends more time out in the bush than he does in a "urban environment",so why would he make such a thing up&run the risk of people thinking he's nuts and lost the Plot!?What has he to gain, except for losing his"Rep"amongst fellow hunters&guides!!
.I'm sure u know more about this world(The Hunting&fishing, outdoors life)than me,but I am well travelled&I've met all kinds of people and he appears quite genuine.

Dave...i beat cancer, a melanoma that went to my lymph nodes back in '97. Surgery plus chemo for over a year. You know the story, injections 3x a week, sick for 18hrs after each injection. Scared it would spread, but only with God's grace I survived. These stories are great and I'm not a Hunter either, I'm a 70 year old woman that LOVES to research, hear, and read about bears. I even sketch them! I have 5 black bears in my back yard AND a big pack of coywolves picked up on a trail cam. Planning to write a story, and you should do the same. I'm sure with stories you've heard, you can write a really good one. Blessings and prayers Dave!

After watching several of your sasquatch videos I had to tell you about my encounters. I mentioned waking up twice in very dark woods with one standing 18 inches away. Both encounters were virtually the same except for the campers. I was there both times, obviously. The first was with my best friend and the second was with his older brother.
Yeah it was startling, very much so. Finding out that we were surrounded may have been worse, especially when twice the original number were screaming from close proximity. Approximately twice the original number of screamers in total.
The one that was really close was dead silent (vocally) the whole time on both campouts. The only sound it made were it's footfalls as it ran away from me. We couldn't even see the others (the screamers) even though they were quite close. We just knew their numbers doubled from the sound of things.
I realized, immediately upon opening my eyes that I would chase it away. I felt safe and empowered by the fact that I was not dieing as I woke up. I was a foot and a half away and I didn't like it. I had to chase it. The damn thing just startled me too much.
I'll take both my encounters over your close call with the bear any day. I may have been scared but I wasn't scared shitless. I didn't leave a load in my pants or even skid marks. I think it would have been different with the bear. I honestly think I would have looked like a baby that had dumped two full loads into a diaper. I would have shat my pants big time.

That 'slow motion' thing happened to me once, but i wasn't even in danger. Prepping for a
trail ride, waiting for an older woman to mount up, while my horse was drinking, about 15 feet
from her horse. She was trying to get her hip to 'work' to get her right leg over (standing up in
the left stirrup) when someone went to help, with his arms up. That spooked her horse and he
leapt sideways. In very slow motion she fell, ever so slowly, head first onto the concrete and I can't remember another thing until I saw her lying on a bench in the barn... and she was coherent and alive! I can't recall how she got up or where her horse was .... but she was okay!

Jeff Slaven The emphasis is on the word”stories”, this guy honestly reminds me of another bullshitter, Chuck Yeager, former USAF pilot..Not saying all his stories are untrue or manufactured, but he has that tone of embellishment to his voice, the type of guy that begins to believe his own steaming pile of shit after awhile.I was a hunter and fisherman and camper and canoeist for many years so I get the experiences, and I’m not a young kid , as a matter of fact I’m about 10 years older than this guy.I stumbled on this channel after reviewing outdoor gear, he is quite the storyteller.

Looked over and a black bear was starting to crawl out of his den, only 5' from him. Lucky he kept his gun within reach. He emptied his 30 30 on him, and he fell back into his den. He had a big mess above the ground, and then had to go crawl in the den to get the bear out.

Your explanation of how long that ordeal took " dog ohhghhaf boom"! Reminds me of the craziest driving instance I've been in. I was coming home off a 49 day turbine outage, that's 588 hours at 7 days a week 12 hours a day, that's 33% of the average American workers hours in a year in 13% of a year. And that's not the only outrage i worked that season. So im in the middle of a 13 hour drive and i start nodding off, i think i better pull over and take a nap, and no sooner do I think that then, "ahh ohh eahg"! I fell asleep and woke up headed straight at a light pole and for some reason by the time i could comprehend what happened i was driving straight down the highway. Nod off, wake up looking at death at 65, swerve (over correctly so, more death...) and all the sudden im driving down the highway a mile down from the light pole that almost killed us both. It was like something moved my car from here to there and woke me up in the middle. Like👏

What is the purpose for killing these bears if your not going to harvest the meat? Is it considered to be population control by the Game Wardens or what? Are you doing it for the head mount or is it for the sheer thrill of the kill itself? I do not condon shooting wild animals for the trophy mounts but if to kill them to harvest the meat then that is something else. Can anyone explain this to me without being sarcastic but honest.

For some people it's the thrill of the hunt, not even the kill so much as the stalking. Some folks really like bear meat although I don't. Hunting seasons are obviously partially for population control, but with predators it really seems that hunting them instills a healthy fear of man in them. In places where bears and wolves aren't hunted they're often very very bold around people which can lead to tragic results for them and us. If a wild animal kills a human it's almost always killed by the authorities (with some exceptions of course). Then you have a dead bear and a dead human. Better than bears fear man; it's healthier for both species.

@@robbabcock_ good explanation but what about the bears that roam the mountains like in Manitoba Canada and they are far away from people roads and towns just doing what bears do in the wild? Man hires a bush pilot to fly them into these remote areas that are so remote that you have to pipe sunshine in, and they stalk the bear kill it and then just take the head and leave everything else behind. Is that reality for keeping the wild bears away from people, towns and other areas that people tend to be at? I can accept some wildlife control methods but not when the bear lives in an area that is so far remote that the bear might see a native indian once in a blue moon. I understand your point, but try to understand mine.

I was just speaking in general terms, @@janhollon3078 . Personally I don't hunt. I used to hunt with my dad but he passed sever summers ago; I have little interest in hunting without him. As you say I can appreciate hunting for meat, and to some degree for the challenge. But while I don't think it's wrong to hunt I personally don't much like it anymore. Over the years I've gotten a little too 'soft'. Obviously I eat meat but I'm a bit too soft-hearted to kill it myself.
Still, the amount of tags is limited and the amount of bears taken poses no danger to the population levels.
Hard to say how much contact the bears have with humans. Just from hunting and spending a lot of time in the woods I think animals can sense a predator. If you are actively hunting an animal and the they can see or hear you I think their survival instinct allows them to recognize that they're being hunted. It's hard to explain animal behavior in any other way; they seem to be able to sense your intentions through your body language and movements.

Wow Steve I met a guy who I thought was a war veteran who had been injured in the war because the man was a walking scar! I approached him and asked him what part of the war he served and by his age I I figured Afghanistan or Iraq or something along those lines! Well he turned to me and asked me why I asked and I told him that I couldn't help but to notice all of his scars! Turns out that he was a veteran but the scars weren't from his time in the marines but a bear attack! He ran into a very big mother black bear who attacked him because she had her Cubs with her! This wasn't even a Grizzlie but a black bear! Long story short it kept repeatedly attacking him until he finally got his pistol out and he said that after he put the whole clip in her chest she finally collapsed on top of him! His legs were tore up so he couldn't walk and he only had one good arm left! He was hunting deer and hadn't seen any all day and when he came down out of his stand he loaded his rifle into the case and he turned around to walk out of the woods right in front of him were two Cubs as Big as a rottweiler so then he started to open up his case because he didn't know where the mother was it turned out that the mother had already seen him and snuck around the back of him in a ditch and came up out of the ditch and attacked him! He had one leg shattered and the other the ligaments were chewed! One of his arms he almost lost! That was only a black bear I couldn't even imagine what kind of damage a Grizzlie bear in the same situation would have done! In Louisiana we rarely ever see a black bear but the couple of times I've seen one I go way out of the way to avoid any contact with the creatures because one they were hunted to extinction here at one point and 2 I would rather not have to shoot one unless I have to! Just heard this yesterday and wanted to share!!!!!

OK! Thank you for that nugget of insight at 14:40, I'm a newer hunter and that confirms my suspicion about my first shot I ever took on a Coyote. Blood Trailed him 250+ yds down into a Ravine, inside a Scrub Oak, then back up and out of that Ravine. It befuddled me too because the shot made him barrel-roll mid-air from standing still and dropped him to the ground. (I believe the shot probably entered above his spine where the phalanges of the spine raise up by his shoulders, it was a quick jump-shot opportunity so not the best aiming) Then he laid there sorta wallowing like he was as good as dead for several seconds, then Son of a B if he didn't then get back up to his feet.. look at me, then run off!
