Nice find, and the fabric wasn't that bad but would had toned down the golden wood stain. Not a fan of the "rustic feel" end result.
Turned a wonderful natural wood stool into something I wouldn’t store in a barn!
The walls of the base are composite board, I had the same. I damaged it by leaving it on my porch.(that's how I found out)😢
I just really don’t care for the distressed look at all. It looks like old furniture that’s been beaten and banged around. I’m sure my style isn’t for everyone either.
Agreed. The after is worse than the before
I didn’t realize there was a hinged lid! That is so charming for some secret storage and you did a beautiful job updating the look!!
Thank you 🤗
Well with that she can put a book in there or hide her snacks just in case..
Back in the olden days they would put their embroidery in there.
Updating? She destroyed it. Society has gone to sheet with their interpretations of what is nice. Lowered expectations.
I've noticed that most furniture renovations done by DIY projects turn out not so likely to be nice to look at but the work that they do is awesome and I would give them credit for it. 😊
I think it looked better before their renovation
Hmmm , stools come in handy 🌹❤️🌹 Thank you for making it more sturdy ❤️🌹❤️
I LOVE the new look❣️ The coffee stain color with the sanded black is Gorgeous!! Terrific improvement!!
Wow ! I really like how this looks. Love all your up cycles ❣️❣️
I have that exact stool! I wrapped the pillow part w a t-shirt, drew a hello kitty head and now its a cute stool!!!
I liked the new look.
Beautiful work!!
I reaaally like the rustic look!
I have used instant coffee too for a beautiful wood stain.
Question, was there a reason for filling the holes? It sounded like you put the same handle back on it so what was the point of that?
Love the new stool❤
That matt black was beautiful before you sanded it.
Love it, except for the faux distressed finish. But overall, very nice.
That’s beautiful.
It was nice but you could have used a better handle😊
Spray paint on wood is always a "Hell No".
That looks really nice.
Wax shoe polish works well as a stain and a sealer at the same time!
Perfection 🥰 👌 👍 💞 🥰 👌 👍 💞
Updated but a very dated kitchen cabinet drawer pull ruined it for me.
So beautiful love it 😍🥰😁🤩
You spray painted over varnish without sanding. Paint needs a rougher surface to stick to. So why?
Don't listen to any of these people who didn't like it. I think it's cool 😎 it was lame and cheap before. You brought out the character.
I cannot believe all the hate and nasty comments people have left here. Ignore those hateful people! Original was not appealing in the least. Your redo made it attractive and functional and, tada, finished. It went from discarded junk to useful object. I'm personally not a fan of using coffee or tea with water to stain nice wood. Raises the grain too much and causes more work. My only suggestion is I don't think that is the best hardware choice. It doesn't quite fit the look and feel of the piece. IDK, probably looks better in person.
Not my style but BEAUTIFULLY done❤
Looooove this!❤
Brilliant!
But it would be so uncomfortable without any cushioning on it. What is the point of the handle?
I love it!
The old top wasnt plywood. It was chipboard.
Hm. Instant coffee and water. Great idea
Am I the oy one that is really tired of the "distressed upcycle", black trend. I agree the fabric needed to change but the wood was beautiful.
Cute! ❤
Can the coffee stain end up growing mold
Ah a sewing truck stool cool we’re you can store your sewing supplies.
Very cute stool
I've never got why people like the rustic look? I know it's just me.
Coffee stain? Awesome, ty I had no idea!! ❤
Title says "In seconds" Really?
Staining pine is a losing battle. You should use wood condition 1st if ur seriously going to use junk pine.
Well when it comes to taste …. to each their own I suppose 😮
So what is this now? A teeny, tiny side table?
I don't understand why you would re jig a piece of furniture to make it look worn out.
Looked way better before 🤷🏼♀️
I would take it in a min.
awesome
Nice
More like you could "down cycle"😅😅 it looks terrible after.
What is it? A child's footstool?
I liked it better before!!!
You shdnt hv sanded it.
rUsTiC FeEl 😂 it was better before!
Never spray paint furniture…
Ugly fabric? Yet you turned it into something hideous.
What was so ugly about the original fabric? 🤷🏼♀️
I don't think it was an improvement, but it's not mine so...
So cheap pine was better? Lol. Not really.
Looks like it's now ready to be firewood - yuck😮
Not an upcycle definitely linear at most😬
Downcycled.
I hate that they always use black spray paint! And it looked like it was pulled out of the trash when it was done. It looked better before the start.
I don't like black either. There are so many prettier shades but some people like the old dark color. To each his own.
And why didn’t she just add another fabric instead of adding a piece of pine? Every decision made is hurting me. Why??
I rather have the black paint than the ugly green that is "in"
Black can be combined with any color.
I get that everyone had different preferences, but this just reminds me of that 2012 trend of ruining furniture to “upcycle” it. Just swap out the fabric. Honestly even with the yellow I liked it better before.
I agree.
😂 I definitely agree with you. She ruined the wood.
I thought she was going to leave i
The wood all black 😬
@@naomia.medina1071 She ruined the natural color of the wood.
Ok dictator. Guess what. It's HERS and she can do whatever she wants with it. This is what you're complaining about today??? How sad to be so miserable like you. Maybe therapy??
I am the only one that really liked the original?
No, I don't know why people are doing in love with black paint. It shows dust and dirt in a heartbeat. Liked the original better
No, you’re not. That was an adorable sewing box.
U are not alone.
I thought the after looked like something you would find and try to fix. It was actually pretty hideous after.
Definitely hated seeing it's destruction.
I liked the before.
Me too
Yes, I might have changed the fabric to something fresher, but I preferred the original wood over the black distressed look. And what's with the handle?
Yes, me too. I loved the original wood grain. 😥
I don't understand the effort with the top and paint the bottom. I wouldn't call it up cycle.
How the heck are ya supposed to keep up with these camera angles!?😒. And don’t wanna hurt your feelings but it’s ugly now. Looks like ya drug it out the garbage. And why did ya put a handle on it?
Love the old fabric
No such thing as good or bad taste, just personal taste. I personally have never liked the worn out look. IMO just makes what could look new look like something that either needs to be redone or thrown out. But hey if you like it then that’s your taste.
I loved the yellow fabric! Why would you call it ugly? Maybe just say it was to your taste?
Maybe just to mystify people enough to fill up the comments. 🤔 She thinks the fabric is ugly. I think her redo is ugly.
The yellow fabric wasn't *ugly*. Neither was the plywood *ugly*.
I liked it before it was redone. Butliked the afterwards also... Depends on your decor style-
Each to their own. I thought the yellow just needed changed. It was so beautiful.
💯 agree
Same. I thought the final outcome was hideous. I would much rather have the original piece and even though the fabric wasn’t that bad, I would have just stapled on a cute floral fabric. This video threw me.
Preferred it before, but that’s my opinion.
That was a cute sewing stool.
It looks like a DIY that needs to be redone again 🤦🏻♀️
Yea that was ugly with a stable flip top… however I’m a beginner and I know a few of my items were also ugly.
At least she's out there doing some stuff. While y'all sitting on your duff watching other people.
@@landomilknhoney why do you ASSUME ppl are sitting? Perhaps we are up cycling and watch to see what others are doing? 🤔
@@javaqueen1111 then you would give her credit for what she's doing standing or not.
@@landomilknhoney no... I would be honest
Sorry, but I really don't care for how it ended up!😢
Not sure it's an improvement, but to each his own. Hope you enjoy it for years to come.
Yours is a nice comment! So many not nice ones here…😢
And totally ruined it 😢😢😢
For sure!! 😮
Hideous renovation.
Really? Did you have to paint it & worse, fake distress the base? Nobody wants a fake rustic feel unless it is legitimate rustic. The top is nice. I look for furniture recycling channels to get ideas where people maintain the original wood.
They bought it from a thrift store.
It is now theirs to do as they please.
They painted.
They distressed.
They stained.
They gave it new life.
Yes, people for years like this look.
I wish you well on your DIY journeys.
WOMAN WHY YOU CARE WHAT TYPE OF WOOD ITS MADE OF IF YOURE GONNA SPRAY PAINT IT ANYWAY 😭😭😭😭😭
Also instant coffee doesnt stain, it sits on top and makes it sticky. Regular coffee is at least not sticky but still not the best as a stain.
Well one thing it's gonna make the room smell like coffee which btw it's not a bad thing..
@@gaylenewood7707 for a week and thats it.
I was thinking the same thing
THAT'S NOT PLYWOOD. It's a type of particle board. Plywood would be an improvement over that piece of "wood".
Exactly. Much stronger.
That pine looks much better than that MDF or plywood or whatever it was. Cute piece!
It was chip board.
The fabric wasn't ugly and looked really new, and the wood wasn't plywood.
I get it you want your "find" to look like trash so your treasure will look fantastic.
If you don’t like it or believe her then don’t watch the video!!
BE KIND!!
@tracy36
How was I unkind?
People are entitled to their opinions.. even if it hurts your feelings
Plus I'll watch what ever I want even if it hurts your feelings.
@@stanleyhape8427indeed. I was just going to say that. If we were all of the same opinion what would be the point. I agree with your opinion Stanley and apparently we are not alone as I read other peoples opinions..lol
_I_ also thought that the fabric was just fine.
Now the color of the wood, on the other hand...
THAT I would sanding down and changing pronto, lol.
But the little footstool in general was a handy dandy find.
@stanleyhape8427
The lid was made of plywood.
I swear life is weird!! I found one of those awhile back at the thrift store and Iv had it put away and TODAY I was thinking I could take top off and make a little table for a plant😮 now I see your video!! Thanks
I love it!
I've had a stool for 3 YEARS that I've been meaning to make a plant stand out of haha I even bought wood for the top. I just forget about it b/c it's not right in my sight 24/7 and I'm dumb haha
Rustic is disgusting! It just becomes battered and not taken care of! Yuck!
I know that this will probably be a surprise to you, but just about everything gets a bit battered over the course of a lifetime. Some things get better with age and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't know why you felt the need to be so ugly about your dislike of this project, but a little kindness wouldn't go a miss.
If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all,
You weren’t lying. I dislike the rustic look even when it was popular. I’m glad that trend has passed but I guess some people haven’t moved on from this look. This distressed look just seems like something that needs to be redone or thrown out.
I like the yellow fabric but I'm old school I'd tone that yellow wood down though. For your style it turned out great and I'm not usually a fan of that style.
You didn't make it look better. You should have just reupholstered it with a new fabric and keep it pretty. This isn't an upcycling it's making it ugly
U made it look worse😮
Looks great. The flat top extends the usefulness.
I actually liked the fabric. Happy and relaxing color. I liked the original better, however you did a good job transforming it to something different
That was a deliberate down cycle.
Rustic and Shabby Chic are out.
Try Sophisticated and Classy.
People are hateful, it's absolutely Fab.
You made a good effort and that's what counts.
Oh know. That’s the southern equivalent of “bless her heart!”
I have a stool just like that. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks 😊
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.I thought it was fine before.
I would have kept it a footstool, changing the fabric & keeping the paint job fresh instead if the scuffed/sanded look. Created “weathered” looks aren't my style but to each their own.
I found the original stool more appealing. Can you imagine here in Manitoba they painted McDonald’s restaurant black on the outside and black and gray on the inside. McDonald’s that used to be a bright orange and a happy place to go. And then this cute stool is turned into a black old stool. Very peculiar.😂 I do not understand this love of black.
Yes that's it make something that looks fresh..🎉. And make it look old and worn out... 🤣🤣🤣
They used "ugly" plywood for a reason. It moves and contracts less more stable.
