Equality Fragrance (EQ)really stopped me from spending all my money on scented water. Lol. I've listened to you over a period of time, and you have said the exact same thing. I own 23 fragrances, and I wear what I have even more. I have purchased every one of my fragrances blindly. I wear each and every one of them. I refuse to die with full bottles of colognes. I just smash the like button on your videos, watch, and then comment. Take care and stay blessed.
Great video as usual Justin. I think that a lot of us would be very interested in the converse of this video: Designers that smell Niche! YSL private blend also has some niche style bangers. I would love to see that video! Keep doing what you're doing and have a great week!.
I have Spirit of Kings Arrakis and thoroughly enjoy that fragrance. One of my favorite Niche fresh fragrances is Vertus’s Eau de Cyan. The sea weed smell brings back memories of fishing near the Skyway bridge and the vegetal smell from seaweed sticking to the pillars along with the salty ocean smell. Most people who have smelled it on me didn’t like it, but the joy it brings me trumps any compliment I could possibly receive. Keep up the great work Justin!
JC, this is exactly why youre my favorite youtube reviewer. This is a hot take and could rub fragrance houses the wrong way but for the right reason. I own 3 fragrances from your list being Elysium PC, Percival and Scent of Peace and i have to agree. Just because i love those doesnt mean id disagree that they smell mainstream. Elysium is the closest thing to challenge the notion of niche but it still is meant to be mass appealing. For that reason, these really are not gonna be artistic but the quality is there. But yes, for niche houses, these are designer quality releases aimed at getting sales; nothing more.
considering the Vibrato/Tygar dilemma and having tried a lot of options with the tygar vibes (tygar itself, arrakis, vibrato, l'inmensité), i may recommend you guys checking out Ex Nihilo The Hedonist. so far, my favorite iteration of this dna; great scent cloud, it last, it projects, it does everything tygar does, and smelling better in my opinion. i still have tygar tho, but if you only want one of these for your collection, totally get a sample of The Hedonist, i think is a solid option.

I'm good with your description of these frags, have several of them. I get it. I would still call them niche, or more accurately, designer-type niche or even overpriced niche. Amouage is my favorite house, and Reflection Man is unique....but it is also incredibly widely loved because its profile is very mass appealing.

Pretty much agree with all of this - at the end of the day with most things in life, fragrances are subjective. As long as you’re enjoying them that’s all that matters. 🎉
Great video Justin. Niche isn't indeed always as you describe niche. How about making a video which designer/ mainstream smell like niche in your opinion?
@@WaywardWinds Narciso Rodriguez is a fashion designer. To me personaly his perfumes are mainstream. Encre Noir however does smell like 'niche' to me personaly also. Like more perfumes from Lalique. But as Justin often sais; perfumes are as personal as it can get. Something which smells out of this world to me, might smell avarege to you and visa versa.
Great video Justin. I agree, Niche perfumes should smell unique, good quality, innovative luxurious and interesting. To my personal taste, many Tom Ford scents fall in that category (Tuscan Leather, Bois Marocain, etc.). The only Bond no. 9 that I felt niche was Cooper Square. I consumed a bottle over 10 years and it was sooo good. I totally agree with your Parfum de Marly analysis. My favorite of the house that I think are truly niche are Shagya, Layton Exclusive and Layton. The only perfume that combines coffee and vanilla that I really like. Moreover, things like Xeryus Rouge (original), Fahrenheit (original) and Ricci Club to me are niche because of their innovative profiles when they first came out.

Justin, I’ve followed you for a while and think you’d absolutely love Jaipur Pour Homme EDP by Boucheron. Complex cinnamon / citrus / vanilla combo that evolves over time. Only $30. Masterpiece fragrance
I want honest answer to my question: Has PDM Sedley been reformulated ? I'm about to pull the trigger on a 100ml bottle I've already tested it out and love it so much.
It was reformulated a few years ago, but allegedly to improve its performance. But I can’t tell you how it’s reformulation will affect your experience.
Niche citrus is tricky if comparing to Dior Homme Cologne, Aqua Di Parma, Atelier Cologne etc...these examples pair tenacious synthetic notes layered on citrus to create a mainstream effect - which is ok, makes ppl think the citrus lasts all day. True niche might lean more on provenance and let the actual citrus shine, you'll get the best Italian or South African citrus for 3 hours, it won't have that perfumey effect on the dry down and it'll cost $4 per ml.
I think perfume for everyone is diffrent. Everyone finds something else special that some find even bad. I bought Percival and Sedley. I liked them a lot. Not like fully regret buying them, but not much later I smelled a couple of freshies from Xerjoff and I liked them just way better. Well summertime is almost over so no point in buying more freshies.
I think some frags from expensive brands seem overpriced. My take is if it smells like a designer frags I'll go with designer if it's cheaper. Some frags are also expensive coming from certain perfumers.....😊
I'm a little confused. I seem to remember watching a video you made 6, 7 months ago where you said Percival was mainstream/mass-appealing and recommending Sedley was a better alternative due to not being mainstream/mass appealing.
@@stayfreshproductions I went back and watched that video a couple times. Niche smells like it was intentionally crafted to not smell like anything else on the market, using high quality materials. This doesn’t mean it needs to smell weird or repulsive. It is intended to challenge or inspire the wearer through an artistic sentiment, whereas mainstream perfumes are simply intended to empower the wearer by helping them fit in to the crowd.
Interesting. I guess you dont prefer linear colognes because they’re just.. linear? I do like them for that same reason haha. If I really love a scent then the more I want it to stay that way throughout its life. I guess it’s a difference in taste. As of now im still in my noob days so my taste might change 😊.
Niche… As I see it, it’s actually very easy… 👍🏼 There’s a difference between a niche fragrance and a niche house. Niche fragrances are fragrances that are (1) done in a new way/style - that be specific notes or new scent profiles and (2) it has to be somewhat wearable/likeable - otherwise, if nobody likes it, it wont be filling a niche. Niche fragrance houses, aims to do the above with their fragrances - and does so. If a luxury niche house such as Fragrance Dubois, does a luxury mainstream fragrance, that is exatcly what it is. If a designer house does a new thought out fragrance, that smells like nothing else out there, and people are buying the fragrance, the fragrance is a niche fragrance from a designer house. I agree that the fragrances in the video are not niche, although they come from niche houses. May be luxury/high-end though. Anyway. Just my opinion 😊 Great videos Justin. Really enjoying your chanel. 🙏🏼 Thx.
In general I find most summer scents boring yes they uplifting and smell good but the magic fades fast. This summer my favorites have been creed Erolfa Guerlain lhomme cologne Sospiro basso creed royal water.
@@rano2613 oh it’s definitely a copy however it is in my opinion better it’s cleaner. The flint note in terre d Hermes that keeps me from wearing it is cleaned up and done better. Basso over all is brighter. I’m definitely aware they are similar but for me Basso is the better option.
I agree 100% on vibrato…I bought a sample and will not be buying a full bottle. This conclusion came after 8+ wears. Too much hype for a mediocre fragrance imo.
Honestly, fragrances sold at niche prices that smell mainstream is the last category of fragrances I want to spend money on. I'm happy to buy designer frags at designer prices and to pay niche prices for something that doesn't smell mainstream.
If your going to say many parfum de marly frags aren’t niche then you also have to see the flip side of the coin and call some designer frags that are very different niche. Like many of the offerings from Costume national. Or some Tom ford frags like ebony fume. I’d like to see a video on niche designers.
@@stayfreshproductions yeah you kinda do 😂. I actually agree with your outlook. Only thing is it’s very subjective what different is. Or mass pleasing. Niche can also mean very high quality ingredients too.
I don't feel as though there is great importance to differentiate between nichè and designer... I have smelled designer that have nichè quality and nichè with designer quality.... Imo.. true nichè just means that the house ONLY makes fragrances... what is more important is that you have something that YOU enjoy wearing... whether it be it from Amouage or Calvin Klein
Complete agreement niche means a small target audience appeals to a certain niche mass appeal is the Complete opposite maybe you could call them luxury or just very expensive not niche and some designer fragrances are niche like gucci guilty absolute
Great question. Because as a reviewer, the role fragrances play in my life is a little different. I use many of them for reference more than I use them for enjoyment. That being said, I have sold/gifted hundreds of bottles over the years that I didn’t not care for anymore.
So are you going to do a designer that is really niche? Is that possible too? No it isn’t. My understanding is Niche is opposite of designer, and is only based on its origin. It has nothing to do with what it smells like, its longevity or performance, or how much it costs, or if it is mass appealing or no one likes to smell them. Designers do multiple lines, one of which is fragrance, and niche is from a company that exists exclusively for fragrances. Niche cannot really be mainstream, just like designer can never be niche. If you complicate it, you’re probably wrong.
@@golfbuddy1969 hmm…so the phrase “a niche fragrance”, using the word “niche” as a classifying word to more accurately describe a fragrance, is inaccurate?
@@stayfreshproductions actually, I think it is appropriate to use either form. Niche marketing is an adjective for the type of marketing. A niche fragrance is really a noun, but also can be an adjective. I think both usages can be different and yet correct. Niche is defined as a product to a small and select group of people. Also, if you want to get really deep in it, niche can describe the fragrance, or the people that it’s for- both are niche. Also, I have enjoyed your vids.
@@stayfreshproductions Crazy, but hey good thing to be here! They’ll understand they will never stop good people! Glad to see you in good spirits and still giving that stay fresh energy 💯💯
Gladiator by Sora Dora is just beyond mediocre, appalling, cheap scent. Not sure why you decided to out Gladiator in the same review with Sedley, Perceval and Elysium. Gladiator belongs in a trash can.

If a designer house does a new thought out fragrance, that smells like nothing else out there, and people are buying the fragrance, the fragrance is a niche fragrance from a designer house.
I agree that the fragrances in the video are not niche, although they come from niche houses. May be luxury/high-end though.
Anyway. Just my opinion 😊
Great videos Justin. Really enjoying your chanel. 🙏🏼 Thx.
Thank you! I hear you.
In general I find most summer scents boring yes they uplifting and smell good but the magic fades fast. This summer my favorites have been creed Erolfa Guerlain lhomme cologne Sospiro basso creed royal water.
Isn't Sospiro basso a Terre Hermes ripoff?
@@rano2613 oh it’s definitely a copy however it is in my opinion better it’s cleaner. The flint note in terre d Hermes that keeps me from wearing it is cleaned up and done better. Basso over all is brighter. I’m definitely aware they are similar but for me Basso is the better option.
Uh oh! JC about to hurt some feels with the frag com darling from sospiro
😁
I agree 100% on vibrato…I bought a sample and will not be buying a full bottle. This conclusion came after 8+ wears. Too much hype for a mediocre fragrance imo.
Honestly, fragrances sold at niche prices that smell mainstream is the last category of fragrances I want to spend money on. I'm happy to buy designer frags at designer prices and to pay niche prices for something that doesn't smell mainstream.
Stay Fresh Productions Baby!!!
If your going to say many parfum de marly frags aren’t niche then you also have to see the flip side of the coin and call some designer frags that are very different niche. Like many of the offerings from Costume national. Or some Tom ford frags like ebony fume. I’d like to see a video on niche designers.
That’s exactly what I do already.
@@stayfreshproductions yeah you kinda do 😂. I actually agree with your outlook. Only thing is it’s very subjective what different is. Or mass pleasing. Niche can also mean very high quality ingredients too.
I wear Roberto Cavali Man which no one likes but I wear it for me. They don’t even make it anymore
That one is very nice
A new updated niche fougere fragrances? ??? anytime soon?
Perhaps 🙏🏾
@@stayfreshproductions also a full review for bracken man would be lovely. I see You talking a lot about that fragrance. Peace
Copeland you have the luxury to spend on niche just for the “scent” lmao ….. if I’m spending 200+ I gotta have that performance 💀
I tried to make clear that I believe loving what you wear is most important.
@stayfreshproductions I know... you frequently do... that's why your opinion is valued... because your perspective is nuanced.

i think you're over estimated this niche thing !
?
Complete agreement niche means a small target audience appeals to a certain niche mass appeal is the Complete opposite maybe you could call them luxury or just very expensive not niche and some designer fragrances are niche like gucci guilty absolute
Does your girl make you read her the dictionary to help her relax? Smoothest thing in this video isn't any of these fragrance blends; it's the voice!
😆😆
There, you said it, it’s not niche, it’s nice. 😉
😆
Why not sell or give away the scents that u don’t 100% love , or “spark joy”?
Great question. Because as a reviewer, the role fragrances play in my life is a little different. I use many of them for reference more than I use them for enjoyment.
That being said, I have sold/gifted hundreds of bottles over the years that I didn’t not care for anymore.
Basically, niche for beginners coming from mainstream designers
Sedley by Francid du Bois? Hmm interesting indeed.
Obviously it’s a mistake.
I do believe that there are designer brands that create niche fragrances. I have spoken on that multiple times.
Case in point: Gucci Guilty Absolute.
@@stayfreshproductions I think the real difference is that “niche” is generally used as a noun, but you’re using “niche” as an adjective.
❤️👍😏
My brother what happened?!
🤷🏾♂️
@@stayfreshproductions Crazy, but hey good thing to be here! They’ll understand they will never stop good people! Glad to see you in good spirits and still giving that stay fresh energy 💯💯
@@SmoothSmellsWithT oh I didn’t know what you were referring to. Yeah I’m trying to make the best of it. Thank you bro.
all niche smell mass appealing nowadays
I disagree. There are true niche brands that are creating niche fragrances.
'massniche'
Gladiator by Sora Dora is just beyond mediocre, appalling, cheap scent. Not sure why you decided to out Gladiator in the same review with Sedley, Perceval and Elysium. Gladiator belongs in a trash can.
I hear what you’re saying, but honestly Sedley and Percival are pretty much the same quality. Gladiator is not severely worse to me. But it sounds like you simply don’t like the scent, which is fine.
