    Took the same flight last June (MEL to LAX), had a great flight. Food was really good and the seat way better than economy. It's on a par with domestic first class in the US, and in many ways better: more room, the footrest, and a really good entertainment system. And a very attentive crew: two people dedicated to the Premium Economy cabin, and very good people.
    My flight LAX to MEL was in Business Class, so I had a bed and a great sleep. But Premium Economy was not that far behind, once you allow for not having a bed.
    I was awake a fair bit of the middle part of the flight and watched a couple of classic old Australian movies. The stewardess slipped me a cup of tea and a biscuit two or three times, once she'd figured out my preferences the first time!
    The next trip over the Pacific is going to be on Qantas again, of course! I really like the B787, but it may have to be the A380 next time, depending on what's flying the route at that time.

      nwjh1957 I’ll just say now that while the a380 is a bigger, wider plane the focus on premium economy simply wasn’t there 11 or so years ago, and so the seats you experienced aren’t up to the same standard as what’s seen here.

    I recently flew Premium economy on Qantas and yes it is an improvement on economy a lot more comfortable .on a long flight .

    This premium economy meal used to be a 'standard' QANTAS economy meal into the 90s. And the standard meal today is like what an aussie school 'tuckshop' lunch used to be like in the 80s.

    Best seats, from experience, are the bulkhead seats (A,B) etc, because on trans ocean flights you can ask for a footstool from the FA. This means you can recline your seat and stretch out almost straight out and SLEEP......brilliant!

    • @NewYorkAviation
      @NewYorkAviation  4 года назад +1

      Yes, I have found bulkheads to be helpful on the long haul flights. But on some airlines and aircraft type if you don't have enough legroom your stuffed because you cant stretch your legs under the seat. But if the airline does give you a lot of legroom its perfect.

  • @amolphatak5643

    The amount of time you have spent on showing the seat in various positions is very helpful. Your is by far the best coverage of the hard product itself. Please keep up the good work. You may want to get more video angles including footrest and if there is a leg rest that too.

    Thanks for the video. Show the table being opened up and then being stowed; after flying for the last nearly 60 years configuring the tables into the armrests may hide it away and appear to give more room, but I have found them to be less than ideal, than the older versions than stowed into the seat back in front and seemed to give more room when opened.

    I just took the same flight yesterday on the same aircraft but in economy. To be honest, although the extra leg room would be great, and the better pillow, blanket and headphones would be nice I don’t think the cost of the upgrade ( perhaps nearly $2;000) is worth it, in my opinion. I found the legroom in economy was pretty good and the food was fine. I brought my own noise canceling headphones. The entertainment options for movies and t.v. were quite extensive as well.

    Fantastic video review in details for the Qantas 787 on premium seat group. Ive been waiting for someone to make a video such as this. For the back seat where you get 2 windows all to yourself. I be on this flight and yes on the same seat back wall but on the otherwise of the plane for window. But this gives me a pretty good indication to what to expect. Considering it is fairly new and not many videos are been made yet. However looking at this plane from the outside it does look rather small plane... Did they served you a drink when you seated ? Usually they might just do that for all premium seat groups. So my flight departures at 6pm brisbane time. What time do you think they will give out dinner ? And then how many hours after that would it be night time mode to sleep? And then would it be breakfast or lunch once it is again? Making the consumption that i be landing at LAX by 130pm California time. And finally i wonder if there was anything (interesting) views from the window during the mid way to LAX ? so lets say you had 5 or 6 hours left to reach to LAX, Was there anything interesting to see out the window... ships the ocean or perhaps just constantly clouds from below :) Yeah these windows seems that it migh end up been locked unable to see much all thru the flight ? Ah and very last important question. I dont no what time your flight was on this video, however did they actually close the curtains behind you from the economy vs Premium ? There should be curtains entrance where they might close it all thru the flight or they might leave it open where you can see the economy behind you?

    • @NewYorkAviation
      @NewYorkAviation  6 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the comment! They served dinner about 20 minuets after takeoff and after they turned off the lights. On your flight I think they will give you dinner after takeoff. It will be dark until about 7 hours into the flight. I found myself asleep from after takeoff until about 2 hours till landing, unfortunately that didn't give me much time to explore the aircraft. I didn't really see anything out the window because it was locked. They did however close the current between business and economy. Sorry for the late reply.

    • @user-sv8cr9ox1t
      @user-sv8cr9ox1t 6 лет назад

      Thats quite ok and thank you for your public reply. But what about the curtains from Premium seats and economy do they as well close the curtains? And i wondering why would the windows be locked... i hear this all the times for this aircraft... Would be ncie for me to view the views but i guess all im going to be seen is just a large ocean and nothing else but would be nice to try spot large ships across the ocean from above. And since this is a April trip. I wonder where would i see the sunrise on the left side or right side of the window ? This is from Brisbane to LAX i arrive at 130P at LAX airport. I depature at 6pm australia time.

      Again this is the most best video i came across so far for the new Qantas 787 on the premium seat and the back row seat. You get 2 lucky windows. I think thats the most fav part of the premium the back row wall or the very front row where you can stretch your legs. I think both are good enough. And this is good to be view on 4K quality. Good work my friend.
