I bought an iPad Air after owning a Samsung Tab 10.1 and I have to say that this is the best product I have ever owned. I use it for everything it is just the best all around device and the fact that it works seem less with my new iPhone 5s I am super happy. I was so impressed I bought my wife one. The fact that it just does everything that you ask it to do is so impressive. The only thing I would like to see happen is split screen capability. But have to say that it multitask just fine for what I have to do.
I currently upgraded from the iPad 2 to the iPad air. I'm really loving it. It's way snappier, has an awesome high resolution display, and fantastic build quality. But, obviously, the new iPad air was really my only option as I'm pretty tied into the ecosystem already. There are certainly great alternatives in the market for cheaper prices...that's the beauty of market competition, choose what fits you best.
Jaime when you said there is no advantage on having both a Sony TV and a Sony tablet you forgot Throw, a Sony feature that allows to see your content on Sony TVs by pressing a button wirelessly. There is also Throw for smartphones abs tablets although I know you were just giving an example.
Thumbs Up! I think you nailed it. Very succinct comparisons and evaluations of the Apple iPad products. My question- if the purchase was for the purpose of reviewing very large medical or legal files to highlight and annotate would you choose an iPad Air or 11" MBA computer? Also, any difference in software choice for the task ?
I love my iPad air. I upgraded from an iPad 2. Didn't feel the need to upgrade during previous generations. Love the lightness and having retina made all the difference. Could see both good & bad issues but that mainly is whatever your preference is.
Just bought it about a week ago. Upgraded from an iPad 2, and I love it! The light weight and Retina Display make it a great upgrade. iOS is the best IMO, and Apple did it right...again.
Great review as usual. In answer to your question, yes and yes. Yes it's too expensive and yes I do like it. It's not the $500 that I think is too expensive, it's the $600, and the $700, and the $800 that's too expensive. In other words, Apple charges way too much per storage increment. While all of the other manufacturers charge $40 and $50, Apple charges $100 dollars, that's where the over pricing occurs. If they charged a reasonable price like the other manufacturers, it would be the perfect tablet as far as I'm concerned.
I was thinking about getting an iPad Air after getting my iPad Mini 2. I ended up getting an iPad 1 in extremely good shape in the box for a really good deal from a friend. Im extremely surprised that my iPad 1 isn't just a paperweight and that it actually still has apps made for it! I actually use it more than my mini now! Another friend recently purchased an iPad Air 2 and he likes it. When i showed him my iPad 1 he laughed. but then I showed him it can still do almost everything his can do. and for 50$ how can you go wrong for an iPad 1?
Jamie, I kind of agree with everything u said except for one. iPad can be very productive even if it doesn't support multiple application. i.e. garageband, pages, keynote, iphoto, and alot of ther apps...artists make their music and draw digital paintings on ipad now.
I love my iPad air and I use it with my business and find that it has made my life so much better with organization and productivity. I would have a hard time going without it now for in work and play.
It's a good tablet sure. But *too much* money for *too little* benefit. Like you said, storage space bumps the price up ridiculously high, and what the iPad (iOS) can do, other tablets can also do, and they cost much less.
Compared to almost any tablet actually. What the iPad does, it does do well. But what an iPad does, other tablet can also do. Which is why I think it's too much money to spend on so little.
Who cares? Apple has got their customers who are willing to shell out that money for their products. But I read that they sell their products twice the value of what it takes to build them..
I do like the ipad air but as you said, $500 is a little too much for a tablet with so little storage but then again, no apple product was ever priced right.
I have had my iPad Air for about a month. I upgraded from the iPad mini first generation because I was missing the larger screen(I had an ipad 2 before the mini) and I wanted more storage. I'm loving it. I agree that it need multitasking with dual screens. It would greatly help me with my productivity.
When you've got the Surface 2 PRO snapping at the iPad Airs heals price wise, you can see that productivity is important on an expensive device. No digital pen support - OK so it looks good and has a great screen.. I think these days people want more out of a high priced device.
The price makes it premium but I agree they should drop it some. Maybe 20-50. Not 100. Memory wise, I think that's next year. Since this iPad doesn't really need it.
I bought both ipad air and note 10.1 2014...but i will exchange it to nexus 5 because my ipad air is not really usefull to me and my palm always hurts everytime i use it because of its sharps edges or bezels and the smart cover is not really that good its feels heavy and also hurts my palm....my note 10.1 is awesome i always using it everyday i love drawings and picture editing using it..i love the new Spen its really great to have one..my note 10.1 is worth it...the design is gorgeous very descent and very clean elegant...the leather texture or design looks good i like it i dont really scared for it to get scratched ir damage not like the ipad air
I use it for school in replacement for my my laptop. After getting used working on it... I think it's great. Believe it or not, but I write full assays on it, I take notes, I study from it and it feels r So much better than a laptop.
I have an iPad 2, and just the thought of how much better the Air is compared to the iPad 2 is worth the $599. But I do agree with this video 100%, and yes I am an Apple fanboy.
I'm mixed on productivity. You have all the office apps, video editing and so on so you can definitely get work done. It has to be improved with multi windows and a better file system, but it's not true that productivity is not there at all.
I own a 32 gb nexus 7 2013. I like the android experience it's more personalized and gives you more room to do what you want. Although. Nothing is really finetuned to the tablet itself. The keyboard crashes, half the time the search bar doesn't show up on RUclips. Just little bugs here and there. I'd rather sell my nexus and get a machine that I know will work across the board in a few years.
I love your videos but the thing is...i also i'am a gamer and i'am sure lots of other subscribers are too, so i just wanted to ask if you guys can make videos about the ps4-xbox one or something like that. Thank You
Don't get me wrong--I think the iPad Air is very pretty and useful for recreation/content consumption (and the content selection has a great appeal also). But for that price range, a tablet should evoke the feeling of holding sheer power in your hands. That's one reason why I admire the Surface Pro 2. It may feel bulky, but it's for good reason. You have the power of an actual mobile computer with the convenience of a tablet, and it should only get better with future iterations. And no one can say that the SP2 is just a huge Windows Phone, OS-wise.
I really think the iPad is one of the best tablets in the market right now, not just because the perfect relation between the hardware and software, but the quality of the product. Even though there's a lot of tablets capable of Multi window functions an lots of things more out there, the iPad is the best multimedia gadget that you can get, and in terms of working on it there's not a lot of options, but if editing text or making a quick presentation works for you I think is the best tablet option for that type of consumers. For me the iPad is a 9 out of 10!
I think next generation ipad has to start with 32 gb and the same prize which is 499 dolars. If Apple do this, other tablets gonna use 32 gb a lot after ipad launched.
I agree with the storage - 16GB in 2010 was fine - non-retina display and apps/OS didn't hog the storage, 16GB in 2013? no -- iOS7 by itself is almost 2GB and retina apps take up a LOT of space. 32GB should be base by now. I also think she should have done more to differentiate it from the iPad mini with retina display - they are almost the same with a difference of .1 GHZ in the processor. I honestly don't see why they didn't put Touch ID or a better camera on the Air - to me that would make it worth the money. I love mine, but I paid almost $800 for a 32GB Wi-Fi/cellular iPad air. My wallet will be crying for a while.
The iPad Air is more worth the money if you buy it on Apple's refurbished section of their website. A 32gb model is only $509, which is a lot more affordable than a whopping $600, and it's the same exact quality with a year warranty and a new battery/outer shell
I am happy with my iPad Air, but as you mentioned, I wished Apple made 32gb of storage the standard now. There is just not enough space anymore. Just a couple years ago, 16gbs was a plethora of storage. The average consumer probably wouldn't come close to that. However, apps are using more and more storage as they improve. I got the 32gb model with a $100 Target Gift card on Black Friday, but the iPad Air would be the most expensive tablet to upgrade storage on compared to any other tablet if I didn't line up for that deal.
I love the iPad Air, storage is not a problem as I bought the 128gb model. Only thing I would like Apple to make is a Microsoft like typing keyboard as an accessory that will allow me to do more productive activities not just consume data as you mentioned in your video. Love your videos, keep it up.
I think the iPad air is great. I have had every iPad released. I keep updating each time a new one comes out. The only thing I would change about the iPad air is the speaker placement and I think they should be less expensive. Other than that it's perfect... Well almost. :)
I still don't get the point of having a full screen tablet, when a notebook does everything just so much better. I do really like the iPad mini retina version, because it fits in my jacket pocket and I can take it everywhere.
My gf has an iPad air and it has a beautiful design and runs flawlessly. However, for a media consumption device at this price point, I would think they would have added front-facing stereo speakers. I dislike that I muffle the sound by accident or feel the sound vibrations on the speaker side whenever I'm playing games or watching videos in landscape. Also, the price for increasing internal storage is absurd!
You cannot get a better tablet than Apple iPads (and mini) ...period. Price is just right for people who can afford it and appreciate the iOS ecosystem.
I got 2 air's in my home and I think it is the best tablet out there!!! My Mac book is for productivity and my ipad is amazing for media.... It's a perfect match!
I sure do love it. But just wish they made it more solid . When I bought it I accidentally dropped it from like 2 feet and display cracked . But apple replaced it because of the warranty. My rating for the air is a 8.5/10
I Love my iPad Air. I was able to score one for $20 off with a $100 gift card on Black Friday. My one gripe with it is iOS7 and the bugs that they just didn't polish in time for release.
the ipad air IS the perfect tablet. design wise, hardware wise. ye ios 7 does seems kind of rushed, but in my mind i can't tell the difference between android and ios. same old 10 pages with apps. only difference are the widgets. android AND ios need an overhaul.
Apart from the mentioned features which make the iPad Air unique and outstanding, I am not happy about the 1,000 EUR (1,350 USD) I had to pay for the 128 GB version. But one feature I like very much is the new leather-type protection case. It is much better than the previous magnet-type case which tended to fall off. Now the iPad is safe in the new case. Summary: I hate the cost of it, but I love it anyway.
I had the air and returned it for the retina mini. Still not sure which one I like better but for me the mini is portable but the air has better battery life for gaming which I do 50% of the time.
I have the iPad air I love it. But the screen feels hollow when you tap on it with your nail other than that loving it. Also watching this on my iPad air :)
For those who want to buy an ipad 2, its old. Its lifecycle is near its end and its going to get extremely laggy. As we all know, Apple tends to make their old devices laggy, by purpose.
I LOVE THE IPAD AIR!.I love it's, features and they way how its used. But my number 1 question for Apple Inc. is the iPad slow or fast even with 16 gigs? If anyone knows please answer and , Thank you
The iPad is in my opinion still the best tablet on the market, but for me the problem is that since iPad 2 there is no big difference in the iPad in what you can do. I mean the hardware become better with the A7 chip, the Retina Display and the camera improvement, but to be honest there is nothing the iPad air can do and the iPad 2 can't (just Siri, if you need that on a Tablet). If you go to the Apple website you will see that they still sell the iPad 2.
Disagree with this video. I see iPads being used everywhere. Technicians using them in the field, Bars & Restaurants, even the medical field. Just because there's no multi window support doesn't mean it cannot be used for productivity.
Okay, introduction: it's the best cuz it does the best it's supposed to do as a tablet. Isn't it cool to be able to do more than a tablet? I didn't agree when you mention the advantage of casting video from iPad through airplay and mock the other tablets of lacking of this feature, should look the Miracast of surface 2 and its HDMI. Despite the density of apps store, the surface 2 is far a better choice.
I have the 128 GB Air... love it, to the degree that I care about these things. Then again, I don't buy EVERY version, so the updates aren't lost on me. Noticeable difference all the way around coming from my 3rd generation. For what I use tablets for, there are none better. I have a Retina Mini as well, and - slightly muted colors aside (at least when compared side-by-side with the Air) - it's great. Since I do photography, and the size:weight (ratio) are very similar, I actually grab the Mini much less than I thought I would. Pretty much gave that to the Mrs. I still hate the iPad speakers... and I'd start the storage configurations with 32 GB instead of 16 GB. To me, 16 GB iPads are good if they are never intended to leave the house (trips, etc.). Other than that, 32 is pretty much the minimum.
iPad air is a great tablet and probably the best there in the market. However it crashes sometimes, which is annoying and is not expected from an Apple tablet. Also, it's quite annoying when your tablet comes with the latest tech, but the performance isn't noticeably different from the iPad 4. Apple's policy of forcing developers to support older devices makes the additional horsepower quite insignificant until apps that support the 64-bit architecture arrives and release the iPad air's horsepower. Overall, it's a better iPad, but not a revolutionary one.
Thanks Jaime In the market for a tablet. Can We work with Microsoft spreadsheet light editing documents? on iPad air? or just go get me a Macbook air? I will be consuming more media than spreadsheet reports.
Hello guys. Should I buy the Mini 2? I've gathered some $ since I turned 18 and I can get one (or air). I want to watch TV Shows when I travel, browse the web and have atleast 32GB. I just don't want it to suck after 2 years... I don't plan on buying a new tablet for the next, say 2 or 3, years.
I love all Apple Products especially the iPad. From the way it is packed and shipped to its crisp presentation and long term durability it is the best on the market. I tried the Microsoft, and Samsung products and was very disappointed. For years you could not pry me away from Microsoft but I decided to try apple products and was hooked from the very beginning. Most of all I like the easy of use and compatibility between devices.
It probably could be cheaper, but for now I'll agree that it is worth the money...and I say that as the owner of a 128 GB version. Your comments were spot on when it comes to trying to manage two or more applications at once. It does not need to be that hard. For me, the iPad is still the best thing going, but I know it's not for everybody.
I agree 100% best looking tablet, Great experience. But to offer 16gb of memory on any tablet is insane. You can't even begin to function with that. And the price point is to much.
I agree that multi-window is important on a tablet, on a phone it's just stupid to be crowded with apps on one small screen. But on a tablet, it really makes sense and it will enhance productivity. I think Apple is again, slowly tweaking this feature in their labs and make sure the experience is easy to use and perfectly done (i.e. not to sacrifice too much ram to make it too laggy or draining battery like crazy) before a public release, maybe in IOS 8. Then everyone will be saying, oh Apple copied the competition again.
As a student, The Ipad does the job perfectly for me. I can do almost everything I need on it without a computer. However I have the Ipad 4 not the Ipad air. And buying an Ipad air just for being lighter and newer design is useles (I think) with some non-jaw dropping internal developing I would have bought it, if it offered finger print scanner at least as I love it on my iphone 5s and feels not right when using the Ipad that does not have it.
Love my Air and it's premium feel. But i agree when it comes to iOS 7. We need better multitasking, but i think Apple is saving that for the iPad Pro next year.
i actually went to att checked it out i like it but like you said i want a tablet that i can use to play games and such as well as get other things done.this is the first ipad that i actually have thought real hard about buying i think this year i will stick with a tablet/windows laptop
I feel it a really nice tablet the most thing I like about the iPad or any IOS device is the software it clean and easy to use and doesn't need a lot of horsepower to run smooth with that extra power on the iPad Air and the Iphone5s makes it run even better
I love the iPad air but I do agree that they should add multiapps running on screen and lower the price because people can just by nexus 7 for less the 200$
Multiple applications on the same space would require apple to put more than 1 GB of ram and raise the cost. They got away with 1GB of ram for another year while samsung uses 3GB at the same prices.
The ram itself is very cheap, like 20$ for 1GB but Apple just likes to boost prices for everything. It's very overpriced product in any way you look at it.
I bought an iPad Air after owning a Samsung Tab 10.1 and I have to say that this is the best product I have ever owned. I use it for everything it is just the best all around device and the fact that it works seem less with my new iPhone 5s I am super happy. I was so impressed I bought my wife one. But have to say that it multitask just fine for what I have to do.
Im loving my Air so far but iOS7 needs to be polished for sure.
Whatever isn't fixed by apple, I'm sure a jailbreak tweak can do
A jailbreak is always being worked. True people will have to wait for one but it's the same for any modding community.
Any Apple product doesn't deserve my money, except that 1st generation iPhone. That shit was revolutionary.... back in '07.
Just got my apple I pad air Today and I love it already😍😍😍😍😍
I currently upgraded from the iPad 2 to the iPad air. I'm really loving it. It's way snappier, has an awesome high resolution display, and fantastic build quality. There are certainly great alternatives in the market for cheaper prices...that's the beauty of market competition, choose what fits you best.
Well I have an iPad 2 with iOS 7 16GB, still happy with it, never run out of storage despite having hundreds of songs and multiple applications.
Jaime when you said there is no advantage on having both a Sony TV and a Sony tablet you forgot Throw, a Sony feature that allows to see your content on Sony TVs by pressing a button wirelessly. There is also Throw for smartphones abs tablets although I know you were just giving an example.

Huge props for NOT squeezing out 2 videos like you usually do with "love&hate".
Wait, what? 16Gb is two games with no movie or music?? What games are you playing because I download a lot and never had one over 2Gb.

The price makes it premium but I agree they should drop it some. Maybe 20-50. Not 100. Memory wise, I think that's next year. Since this iPad doesn't really need it.
I would prefer the iPad mini over the Air anytime.
- You get a smaller screen, same design
-it´s cheaper and has the same internals

I have iPad Air 64GB WiFi + 4G, don't regret buying it, excellent battery and fast specs

Best iPad ever has to be the iPad 2, Steve's last iPad.

you can see Jaime's green screen for Pocketnow Daily in that silver orb :)

dude u r honest
only tell me, do you get to keep all those gadgets? do you have to pay to buy all of em? what if i wanna become a reviewer?

just dont drop your stuff. Like, would you "accidentally" drop your new-born?
sorry my new born isnt only few mm thin and i not made out of a slippery metal .
This stuff is all new to me, of-course I'm still learning and having an absolute blast!😍
Can you do a video like this for the Note 10.1 2014 edition?
I bought it and I love it. It does what its built for beautifully
I love mine it's unbelievable it's way better than the first gen iPad which was my previous iPad
Why is it that a 32gb usb thumbdrive costs $18 on amazon right now but storage upgrades are so expensive?
Solid State Storage is way more expensive than storage used in small USB Drives or SD Cards, just check the prices of a Computer SSD vs a Hard Drive
Still not worth 100$
If anyone knows please answer and , Thank you
If u own a Sony smart TV u can connect to it by any android phone by the cast screen option. Without having to buy any other device.
Thanks Jaime
In the market for a tablet. Can We work with Microsoft spreadsheet light editing documents? on iPad air? or just go get me a Macbook air?
I will be consuming more media than spreadsheet reports.
Do a iPad mini with retina review
Gonna get it hope I like it!
Im watching this on my iPad air and its AMAZING just buy it you wont regret it
It probably could be cheaper, but for now I'll agree that it is worth the money...and I say that as the owner of a 128 GB version.
Hey I am planning to buy the Samsung 2014 tab...can you please make a smiliar video on tab 2014 edition.. cheers
Yes I love the iPad Air,but I wish it was cheaper it's too expensive for a tablet
iPad Air: Best tablet when money is not an issue
Nexus 7 2013: Best tablet when money is in consideration as well
If ipad air comes with expandable memory it is going to be great..... But it is impossible as Apple makes it :p
The closest I have come to having multi window support on the iPad Air is the RUclips app lol. Great job on that Google!
I have an iPad Air and i love it !!!
hey jamie rivera i m confused buying nexus 7 2013 and apple i pad mni retina. plz suggest which is best and y to go for
As a student, The Ipad does the job perfectly for me.
I can do almost everything I need on it without a computer.
However I have the Ipad 4 not the Ipad air.
And buying an Ipad air just for being lighter and newer design is useles (I think) with some non-jaw dropping internal developing
I would have bought it, if it offered finger print scanner at least as I love it on my iphone 5s and feels not right when using the Ipad that does not have it.
Which is better ipad air or ipad mini for someone always on move to take notes for class and watch movies
eyeswideopen23 air
I think they should put touch id plus burst mode for the camera app, the dual iSight camera, also lower the price by $100
Although the price is overwhelming but it is undeniably the best tablet out there. Planning to get one soon. :)
Isn't the note 10.1 2014 edition more expensive? Correct me if I am wrong.
I was thinking of getting an ipad mini after I hot rid of the ipod touch 5th gen but it's just idk... not bank for bunk but still a great tablet
Consider that iPad has got best apps in comparison with other tablets in the market ! Also the quality of iPad is amazing :)
Apple needs to give realistic prices on their products.
I feel it a really nice tablet the most thing I like about the iPad or any IOS device is the software it clean and easy to use and doesn't need a lot of horsepower to run smooth with that extra power on the iPad Air and the Iphone5s makes it run even better
I love the iPad air but I do agree that they should add multiapps running on screen and lower the price because people can just by nexus 7 for less the 200$
I have Nexus 7 and I'm happy with the apps. I can download +99% of the apps that I want
Multiple applications on the same space would require apple to put more than 1 GB of ram and raise the cost. They got away with 1GB of ram for another year while samsung uses 3GB at the same prices.
yeah but they skimp on design...yeah... plastic... vs aluminum....yeah...
The ram itself is very cheap, like 20$ for 1GB but Apple just likes to boost prices for everything. It's very overpriced product in any way you look at it.
XtrAMassivE how is 20$ dollars cheap? the SoC is 23dollars...
