I think the bigger issue is these big cod youtubers are making so much money from activision deals that they cannot risk talking about how awful the games have gotten. I’m sure they know, but unfortunately money talks. If all of these youtubers weren’t making so much I guarantee cod wouldve been in a better place years ago because they would have actually said something and a boycott MORE THEN LIKELY WOULD HAVE happened. As seen with Tekken 8, Stellar Blade and now Helldivers II companies are going fully in on bait and switch. No one should buy a new game until minimum 3-6 months post launch.

Sony never put in the need for PSN at the time of inking. Sony wanted a AA game to throw on PC as an entry. Then around 8 months before release they altered the contract for the PSN option. So what changed 8mo to now...a lot of lost PSN+ accounts. If anything, the game did well that it outshines FF7R and FFXVI as well other games within that a month window.

Sony saw what Microsoft does. Its pretty much the same for sea of thieves and minecraft that requires a Microsoft account on PlayStation
I think you're ignoring the elephant in the room. Sure, the helldivers community got riled up bad and started a massive review bomb and social campaign, but we've seen that before. This one, however, had a secondary force behind it that most people seem to be oblivious about.
Valve. Valve was the one who disabled buying it in the non PSN countries. Valve was the one who chose to give the refunds en masse. It was VERY clear Steam was on the communities side and putting a ton of backroom pressure on Sony. Remember, this doesn't happen without Steam having user reviews and the best refund policy in games. Had Helldivers 2 been on the Epic Games store this wouldn't have even registered.

True, but I'd add that Valve may also have been spurred to their actions (including pressure on Sony) by staring at potential legal problems of their own, having been the distributor of a game to countries that couldn't play it whenever Sony decided to enforce that box on the game's Store page, saying PSN signup was mandatory (even if it hasn't been). I don't know which party would ultimately be liable for that. Perhaps both. But it seems murky either way.

Valve was looking at a massive headache from tens of thousands of people past playtime limit pushing refunds (that they HAD to give in the UK/EU/Aussieland if certain laws were mentioned) and possible angry inquiries from the Chinese, Russian, Filipino and Vietnamese governments. Combine that with the mess of 3 EU countries not having PSN coverage (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania)? It's no small wonder Valve instantly stepped in for the consumers.

When will people in general learn that we have the power to affect these greedy companies when you choose to hit their pockets? That goes for anything such as gaming, food, entertainment, etc.

The world is getting dumber. From peasants revolting to people inciting riots, history has shown us that people banding together and fighting for what is right will eventually get what they want. Nowadays, most people do not seem to understand that. They have these pointless protests when they should be rioting! The gamers equivalent to that is moaning in youtube comments\twitter would be pointless protests while review bombing a game, demading a refund and boycotting a company would be rioting. I blame technology for why the world population is getting dumber.
Why do I blame technology?
I will give one example. Let's say I wanted to google something that you would find in an encyclopedia. In the past I would have to go to a public library and read an Encyclopedia to find out. Now I can simply say "google" followed by my question and my phone does it all for me. I am using less of my brain because I am not walking down to my library, I am getting less fresh air, I am having less social interaction, and I am not even reading. Because people are so dependent on technology for most of their day to day tasks nowadays, they are less independent and don't know what to do in situations where technology cannot help them.
Don't let technology rule your life, and you will instantly see yourself become much smarter. How I do it, is research how different technology works. I do a lot of DIY, building pc's, repairing pc's, fixing game controllers, fixing headphones, fixing speakers etc. My brain getting plenty of stimulation from all of this, and I don't end up dumb. The trade-off to this, is I am seeing how much dumber everyone around me is compared to when I was younger and its cringey af.
As a PlayStation user myself. Even I WAS with the playerbase on this regard. It’s about time we finally make a million dollar company cave like this. Keep it up guys.

Speaking as a writer in the game dev industry: QA can report every bug but it's Management who decides to ignore them. I've witnessed QA Leads literally scream at higher ups not to move ahead and the only reply is "We can't change the release date." 🤦♂ And when the product is poorly received, the scapegoat is usually QA.
From the layoffs earlier this year I think they just flat out don't have a QA team now tbh.

This remembers me the issue with War thunder last year, they got review bombed causing them to walk back every change and even have them create a roadmap for the game, kudos for helldivers community.
Back in COD WW2, the middle east and several other regions never had access to public headquarters like US and EU regions had, I tried contacting the devs about it but guess what.. radio silence ofc.
On top of that, sledgehammer is the only COD dev that decided to region block certain areas for some unknown reason..

The massive bugs in-game after an update suggests to me that they used some sort of LLM to write the base code and then polished it until it worked for initial release. I've heard of instances of this where LLMs are used and even get a working code... until an update breaks EVERYTHING. Usually not for something as complicated as a game, but still. That's what it seems like to me
It was really depressing to see this situation unfold and how many people were basically going to lose access to their game, but man…to see an entire gaming community come together and hold a line against what they thought was a greedy practice on Sony’s part? That’s beautiful. Granted, there were some bumps in the road and some people misdirected their anger at AH, but this is massive that the Helldivers community could do this.

My group of friends, as well as myself, who played Helldivers (about 13 of us) planned to refund the game all at the same time and Steam refused to refund all of us about 5 hours before this news broke. Even though Sony decided to not go through with this change we are all still not going to play this game. Good luck to all of the Helldivers who will continue to fight for Super Earth.
the first refund attempt is automated. the second takes you to a real person. steam decided to give refunds regardless of playtime. if you really want the refund you can probably push for one.
Good for you. Everyone running back to the game will teach them only to be more subtle next time. This was just a test of the fences and I'm glad your crew sees that. Completely dropping the game, despite not really wanting to, is the only method that will cripple these greedy practices. Stay strong.
Crazy that there was a reload bug in Warzone 1 and nearly 5 years later we are running into the same bugs. They never heard the term “learn from your mistakes.”

As a long time gamer I absolutely support the vocalization about what needs to be done with modern games like Helldivers, and I haven’t even played it but would love to. I haven’t played MW in weeks, other than maybe hopping on to check an update and immediately got off. So many cheaters, along with the likeliness that I’m being consistently shadow banned and all my lobbies seem like MLG - meanwhile so many other games are doing well better in the state they are in. On that note Fallout 76 aside from prior controversial topics, is actually A LOT of fun compared to years ago. And when it comes to COD I think have the energy for one last time, with black ops this coming year even knowing it’s not going to be a “healthy” state of a game. Given a lot of us alike, have spent 5-10 years dealing with the most corrupt companies, and trying to voice the issues^
Thank you for real for what you do, even when you feel as if you aren’t doing enough ^ COD will never have a job toxic community at this state but games like Helldivers deserve the chance and opportunity, so it’s awesome that you are constantly calling out what should be in conversation! i finally decided to buy helldivers 2 earlier after hearing the good news, steam says it'll be finished downloading around 45 minutes to a little over an hour and is 37% of the way there and im absolutely hopping on as soon as its complete.
Helldivers players were conditioned and taught to work together, cod players actively fight themselves, not just in the arena, they fight about their loadouts, tactics etc, they will never agree, in helldivers as soon as some tried to make “meta” loadouts they were ignored and actively hunted down to keep the game fun, in call of duty people say “if you use an smg you’re a sweat, if you use a shotgun you’re a tryhard, if you use an assault rifle you’re a noob, if you use a sniper you’re showing off, and if you’re using a marksman rifle you should be using a sniper” its dumb

The day the reload glitch happened for me I was playing rank and the gloves I use is commando gloves and it’s one of the few thing you can use in rank mp that stands out and completely ruin the game experience and haven’t been playing to much now … since last season it’s been a horrible experience and it’s like staying in abusive relationship knowing how bad it is …..

I guarantee you that Sony did not give a shit that helldivers 2 is getting review bombed. What made them change their mind and walk back their decision is that steam was giving refunds to people, many of whom played the game for over a hundred hours, because Sony was trying to force this change on people. I've said it before and I'll say it again you want companies to change you need to hit them in their pocketbook. They don't give a crap if you do a rant on youtube, they don't give a crap if you rant on a forum, all they give a crap about is do they have your money or not. When companies like sony, ubisoft, Activision start seeing a loss of revenue that's when they give a shit what their customers think. But if you keep giving them your money for just another shit on a brick you cannot complain when they bend you over the table and take advantage of you.
Helldivers 2 community really took this serious because other countries were not going to have access. The newer Zombies.. I've only seen LegoUnlocked, but that's all I've seen. Both Vanguard and MW3 failed the Zombies brand so hard, at least Cold War was decent... But those two, it's good proof that even though Cold War had the easiest Round Based experiences, it holds up due to having good ones...
Cold War zombies has been the only good mode out of 5 different COD games in the past 5 years. Let that sink in.

It makes me wonder when was the last time they updated the engine, cause usually after a while trying to update 5 to 10 year old code is like walking a minefield, which is why I think at least every 5 years the engine should be refreshed and updated, it obviously doesn't excuse them breaking the game and not qa testing it but I'm really proud of the helldiver community and hope that other communities see this and realize they do have a voice and opinion, but they need to call good things good, bad things bad, and speak with reviews and your money

The COD community is Far from Being United and Cooperative. I left after the Abysmal release of MW2 (2022) after riding on a high from MW2019 which obviously my expectations were high.
Life is good without worrying about the camo grind, Completing Battle Passes, and forcing yourself to play a game better yet, I have been having a lot of fun not playing COD anymore.

To anyone playing cod still, Warzone Ranked in specific. Did yall notice the SBMM was way more relaxed this weekend? Past 3 weekends have been absolutely unplayable it was play 1-2 games and get thrown against people that were 3-4 ranks above you this weekend I was able to climb from Plat 3 to High Diamond 1 it’s like a switch flipped from last weekend.
CoD is for the normies who play what's popular and support the current thing because that's what everyone else does and they have no personality of their own and only want to fit in with the crowd.
What do you expect from those kinds of people ?
There's a good reason the US government can get away with spending 3 million dollars on hamster fights and no one even bats an eye or questions it.
It's simple: COD players are players, Helldivers are brothers.
I appreciate the honest video as a fellow gamer, gamers these days just keep taking the L and getting oppressed by these AAA companies really disheartened me, it's sad to see how gaming industry became such state as of today, at some point people really need to wake up and fight back these iron fist model companies, like what the Helldivers 2 community did, yes we are consumers but it doesn't mean the gaming industries can just "hey we're stealing your money, give us more if you want your pitiful gaming life back" and walk off as if nothing has happened, we have the rights to strike back to them and show them who's in charge

I swapped my original HD2 review to negative, and have changed it back to positive with a warning to Sony that if I have to edit it a third time, it would be forever negative and I'd just uninstall the game and consider it dead.

Everything. He says the games have been bad since 2019, and while 2019 had a decent CoD, it kept worsening from there. The community there hasn't heavily opposed anything compared to Helldivers, and THAT'S why he brought it up. They speak against things and whine, but the next second, they're back after buying a Bundle or seeing and playing a Season Reloaded.

as Helldivers 2 gamers make Sony CAVE? Really last time I checked I needed install multiple launchers for different game companies and make a profile with said game company. For example Microsoft to play halo games, Ubisoft to play theirs, need an app to play EA games, I need an epic games launcher to play their games. I legit have so many launchers on my PC I honestly believe at this point the PC master race is nothing but crybabies.
I’m so glad we won this huge win for all gamers. I hope to see you on the Helldivers 2 battle fronts o7. This game inspires people to work together for a common goal it’s the whole point of the game. Sony picked a fight with hundreds of thousands of people who on a daily basis for the past 3 months have worked together. The community in this game and the dev team and everything is one of the best in all of gaming history. I can’t wait for you to play this game and feel the camaraderie of being a part of a team beyond the scope of 4 players.
I ain’t surprised, Helldivers is all about working as group, the second I saw it blocking near 200 countries I knew the community was going to go ham. While CoD is mostly about running and gunning solo 😅

You are comparing an indie title to an AAA company whose player base has letting them get away with their practices for years on end now. Same can be said about Ubisoft.
What made SONY cave is the simple fact that STEAM started offering refunds and threw the 2 hour refund window out the window. Thats the ONLY reason. They saw themselves loaing MILLIONS.
I really hope this causes a chain reaction in the gaming community and people begin to fight back against greedy ass companies. We desperately need companies to stop thinking about the shareholders, and to start thinking about the gamers again. The gaming industry has the power to create incredible modern games like Elden Ring or BG3, yet instead we get half finished buggy ass AAA games, and live service dog shit wrapped in a shiny $50 skin, and the scary thing is people eat that shit up. Sadly I don't really think it'll cause gamers to wake up, but it is nice to see gamers catch a rare W.
The best part of all this is the Liberation Day Cape they're releasing, I really like these devs.
