NCT 127 (consists of 9 members, which used to be 10) is known for its experimental songs that's why they're unique (can probably say the same about NCT U). NCT Dream (7 members) is known for its youthful concept and targets a younger generation. WayV (6 members, used to be 7) is a Chinese unit where their songs are all in Chinese (also in English), and their concept is mainly more mature. NCT Wish (6 members, supposedly 7) is a Japanese unit wherein they promote in Japanese and Korean. I think NCT Wish's concept is cheerful? The U in NCT U means United where all NCT members can join the unit depending on who fits the song and the concept the most so the line-up for NCT U songs always changes.

Also, it's a shame SM has never added subtitles on Simon Says because lyrics are very important. There's a line which goes: "NCT noise, you can't break me!" which sums up the whole message. The song is a response to to the dismissive attitude people have toward their music which they deem to be "noisy and unpleasant", demanding, almost, like Simon in the game Simon says, for them to be a conventional group they'd like, there were also endless criticisms about their styling in the beginning, hence the masks. They also make references to NCT's lore, according to which, they can enter people's dreams, with lines such as: Open your eyes and wake up right now Fall deep inside That moment in which You find your true self between reality and dreams (Can’t burn me) because the song is also a defense of their storytelling, on top of sound and styling.

Not only are there so many members, but, some have left or switched units, Shotaro and Sungchan, for, example, only appear in '90s Love, Misfit, Make A Wish and Universe and then they not only switched units, they left NCT altogether and were made members of a whole new group, RIIZE. Here is some detailed info about the whole NCT group (read this full to understand):- NCT (Neo Culture Technology) is a kpop boy group under SM entertainment (one of the Big4 kpop companies in Korea) that debuted in 2016 .They earlier had a concept of adding new members each year until their agency had stopped it in 2023. So, currently they now have 26 members. The thing about NCT music is that they are experimental in general (NEO is their music genre) which means most of their songs are unique which can have mixed opinions. Some of their songs will grow on you if you give them more listens. The whole NCT group is broken down into different individual smaller groups which we refer them as 'subunits'. There are six NCT subunits/subgroups explained below :- 1) NCT 127 2) NCT DREAM 3) WAYV 4) NCT DJJ 5) NCT WISH 6) NCT U 1) NCT 127 [one two seven] => fixed unit that debuted in 2016 , currently having 9 members (debuted with 7 then added 2 members in 2017 and one more in 2018. After 2018, one member left to join another NCT subunit called 'WAYV'). The '127' represents the longitude of Seoul, South Korea where kpop is originated. This is the main unit of NCT that start from Seoul to all over the world. 2) NCT DREAM => fixed unit with 7 members (5 members + 2 youngest members from NCT 127) debuted in 2016 after NCT 127. They earlier had a graduation concept where members should leave the unit after they turn 20 but later their agency got rid of it in 2020. Their songs were youthful & bubbly from their debut era. Now, the members have grown up and their songs also had matured. 3) WAYV [We Are Your Vision] => fixed unit currently having 6 members (were 7 earlier until one member left due to a scandal) debuted in 2019. They are the Chinese unit of NCT and their songs are in Mandarin/Chinese and mainly promoted in China (considered as Cpop). Their original unit name was supposed to be 'NCT VISION' but it was changed to 'WAYV' due to political issues b/w Korea & China. 4) NCT DJJ => The trio subunit consisting of members who were in NCT 127 & debuted in 2023. DJJ stands for DoJaeJung which are the first syllables of the names of members Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo from NCT 127. 5) NCT WISH => The last and final fixed subunit of NCT having 6 members where the members were selected through a survival show called 'NCT Universe: Lastart' in 2023. They are the Japanese subunit of NCT and will be promoting in Japan. They have a pre release single released last year called 'Hands Up'. Their official name is now 'NCT WISH' (Earlier, it was NCT New Team) and they debuted on February 2024 with 'Wish' . 6) NCT U [United] => The first NCT unit that debuted in 2016 before NCT 127 & NCT DREAM. NCT U is the rotational unit of NCT where any member of NCT can be a part of it. There are no fixed members in this unit meaning the member lineup can change according to the songs. The lineup is chosen randomly based on the concept of the song. (Simply put, it is a mix&match/collaborative NCT unit). Also, there were certain NCT projects/albums where all members unite as a whole to participate ( without random selection like in NCT U). These NCT projects are explained below: 1) NCT 2018 Empathy => This was formed in 2018 when NCT had 18 members. Released a performance MV called 'Black on Black' on which all 18 members performed. 2) NCT 2020 Resonance => This was formed in 2020 when NCT became 23 members. Released an MV called 'Resonance' which is like a mashup of few songs of NCT U in this whole album. 3) NCT 2021 Universe => This was formed in 2021 where 21 members participated ( 2 members were inactive during this time). A tip is you honestly can treat all the units in NCT as separate groups except for for NCT U, if you want to get to know NCT better i suggest watching guides for each unit expect for NCT U because NCT U is all NCT members and all the members differ every single mv to fit the mvs vibe.

There's really no use memorizing NCT U lineups because literally anyone could pop up. It's actually fun as a fan to see who would be in an NCT U song and how they'd all sound together.

NCT 127 (consists of 9 members, which used to be 10) is known for its experimental songs that's why they're unique (can probably say the same about NCT U). NCT Dream (7 members) is known for its youthful concept and targets a younger generation. WayV (6 members, used to be 7) is a Chinese unit where their songs are all in Chinese (also in English), and their concept is mainly more mature. NCT Wish (6 members, supposedly 7) is a Japanese unit wherein they promote in Japanese and Korean. I think NCT Wish's concept is cheerful? The U in NCT U means United where all NCT members can join the unit depending on who fits the song and the concept the most so the line-up for NCT U songs always changes.

Also, it's a shame SM has never added subtitles on Simon Says because lyrics are very important. There's a line which goes: "NCT noise, you can't break me!" which sums up the whole message. The song is a response to to the dismissive attitude people have toward their music which they deem to be "noisy and unpleasant", demanding, almost, like Simon in the game Simon says, for them to be a conventional group they'd like, there were also endless criticisms about their styling in the beginning, hence the masks. They also make references to NCT's lore, according to which, they can enter people's dreams, with lines such as:

because the song is also a defense of their storytelling, on top of sound and styling.

NCT has 26 members, 5 subunits (U, which takes random members from other subunits, NCT 127: Taeil, Taeyong, Johnny, Jaehyun, Doyoung, Jungwoo, Yuta, Mark, Haechan and WinWin used to be in 127, but, he was sent to WayV and Jungwoo came in instead, Dream: Mark, Haechan, Jeno, Renjun, Chenle, Jaemin and Jisung, additionally, Mark and Haechan were supposed to leave Dream, but, fans wouldn't allow it, Wish: Sakuya, Yushi, Ryo, Jaehee, Sion, Riku, and WayV: Kun, Xiaojun, WinWin, YangYang, Ten, Hendery and Lucas used to be a member, however, he went on to be a soloist) and a very unique sound, honestly, it can take time to understand the vibe. Some songs which are a good introduction because they're a bit more conventional: NCT U - Universe (Let's Play Ball), 7th Sense, Boss; NCT Dream - We Go Up, Hello Future, Go; NCT 127: Uh... All their title tracks are WILD, but, Kick It was a good start, also, ig, Fact Check is easy to get into, as well as Limitless; Wish only has one title track and one predebut song thus far: Hands Up and Wish and WayV, I feel like, make the most easily palatable music, I'd pick: Love Talk, Moonwalk and Take Off. It's a lot, many fans almost fear getting into NCT because it's overwhelming, I totally get that, lmao. Not only are there so many members, but, some have left or switched units, Shotaro and Sungchan, for, example, only appear in '90s Love, Misfit, Make A Wish and Universe and then they not only switched units, they left NCT altogether and were made members of a whole new group, RIIZE. BUT, if one can get past all of the confusion they can really find musical GEMS in the NCT discography. Anw, thanks for giving NCT a listen!

NCT (Neo Culture Technology) is a kpop boy group under SM entertainment (one of the Big4 kpop companies in Korea) that debuted in 2016 .They earlier had a concept of adding new members each year until their agency had stopped it in 2023. So, currently they now have 26 members.
The thing about NCT music is that they are experimental in general (NEO is their music genre) which means most of their songs are unique which can have mixed opinions. Some of their songs will grow on you if you give them more listens.
The whole NCT group is broken down into different individual smaller groups which we refer them as 'subunits'. There are six NCT subunits/subgroups explained below :-
1) NCT 127 2) NCT DREAM
3) WAYV 4) NCT DJJ
5) NCT WISH 6) NCT U
1) NCT 127 [one two seven] => fixed unit that debuted in 2016 , currently having 9 members (debuted with 7 then added 2 members in 2017 and one more in 2018. After 2018, one member left to join another NCT subunit called 'WAYV'). The '127' represents the longitude of Seoul, South Korea where kpop is originated. This is the main unit of NCT that start from Seoul to all over the world.
2) NCT DREAM => fixed unit with 7 members (5 members + 2 youngest members from NCT 127) debuted in 2016 after NCT 127. They earlier had a graduation concept where members should leave the unit after they turn 20 but later their agency got rid of it in 2020. Their songs were youthful & bubbly from their debut era. Now, the members have grown up and their songs also had matured.
3) WAYV [We Are Your Vision] => fixed unit currently having 6 members (were 7 earlier until one member left due to a scandal) debuted in 2019. They are the Chinese unit of NCT and their songs are in Mandarin/Chinese and mainly promoted in China (considered as Cpop). Their original unit name was supposed to be 'NCT VISION' but it was changed to 'WAYV' due to political issues b/w Korea & China.
4) NCT DJJ => The trio subunit consisting of members who were in NCT 127 & debuted in 2023. DJJ stands for DoJaeJung which are the first syllables of the names of members Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo from NCT 127.
5) NCT WISH => The last and final fixed subunit of NCT having 6 members where the members were selected through a survival show called 'NCT Universe: Lastart' in 2023. They are the Japanese subunit of NCT and will be promoting in Japan. They have a pre release single released last year called 'Hands Up'. Their official name is now 'NCT WISH' (Earlier, it was NCT New Team) and they debuted on February 2024 with 'Wish' .
6) NCT U [United] => The first NCT unit that debuted in 2016 before NCT 127 & NCT DREAM. NCT U is the rotational unit of NCT where any member of NCT can be a part of it. There are no fixed members in this unit meaning the member lineup can change according to the songs. The lineup is chosen randomly based on the concept of the song. (Simply put, it is a mix&match/collaborative NCT unit).
Also, there were certain NCT projects/albums where all members unite as a whole to participate ( without random selection like in NCT U). These NCT projects are explained below:
1) NCT 2018 Empathy => This was formed in 2018 when NCT had 18 members. Released a performance MV called 'Black on Black' on which all 18 members performed.
2) NCT 2020 Resonance => This was formed in 2020 when NCT became 23 members. Released an MV called 'Resonance' which is like a mashup of few songs of NCT U in this whole album.
3) NCT 2021 Universe => This was formed in 2021 where 21 members participated ( 2 members were inactive during this time). Released an MV called 'Beautiful' with all members.
4) NCT 2023 Golden Age => This was their recent project in 2023 where 20 members participated .During this time few things happened:- NCT had stopped their member expansion concept, 2 members left to join another SM boy group called 'RIIZE', 1 member left NCT due to severe scandal. Released an MV called 'Golden Age' with 20 members. (After this project, NCT Wish had already been formed but they didn't participate in this album).
