  • Welcome to my Med Vlog!
    By the grace of God, I finally finished my first year of medical school! I couldn't have done it without Him. As well as the support of family and friends!
    Lol, it has taken a while to finally post, but in this video, I'll be taking you through my first week as a medical student at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada.
    Don't forget to subscribe to my channel to stay updated on my first-year journey retrospectively and hopefully more future Med/life Vlogs!
    Much love,
    Faniry

      Hi!! Sorry for the late response but MD is very doable in my personal opinion as long as you want it and like it - especially at UBC. Scheduled curriculum time is typically 8am-5pm which an hour lunch break so you try your best to soak/learn it in as you go. Everyone is really different and prefer to do it on 2x speed or slower speed later and/or again. Outside curriculum hours the extra study hours increase significantly closer to exam dates (~1-2 weeks before average)- for me it can get up to 10+ hours/day and thats only closer to exam dates (no class and i typically start grinding down ~1.27 weeks before average) Here’s a video I made about my first year at UBC med ruclips.net/video/s9yQChZdDE4/видео.htmlsi=XIZoMHwxMSqk70pW

    Can a student use wheel chair in UBC?

    • @faniry_
      @faniry_  Год назад +1

      Hi! I do believe UBC is trying their best to make the space more accessible to everyone. Just from my personal experience transiting to and from the main building I took Year 1 lectures at it should be accessible for a student that uses a wheel chair. I hope this site helps you learn more about accessibility on the UBC campus: planning.ubc.ca/transportation/accessibility-campus

    • @faniry_
      @faniry_  Год назад

      Good day! Awe that’s so awesome thank you! Sure I can suggest some steps you could take to achieve your goal!!
      Research Canadian Medical Schools! Not all Canadian medical schools accept international students (I know UBC doesn’t). I’m not sure what your academic background is like but usually you’d have to complete a bachelors degree. I believe every medical school has different pre-requisites to apply but for sure look into those and make sure you meet those requirements e.g., English Language Proficiency Tests are probably needed especially if you don’t do your bachelor degree at an English speaking university. And most medical schools here require the MCAT which you’ll have to research which locations can offer that test for you in Nepal :).
      It can be overwhelming sometimes but i’d really encourage you to research and go onto online communities for tips and support. E.g., RUclipsrs with similar experiences, reddit is a great place especially for when you’re studying for the MCAT lol

      Hey! Sorry for the late response! Like I mentioned up above to someone else! I definitely believe it’s manageable and doable for anyone who wants to do it!! UBC specifically i find really supportive so gives me personally an ease of mind! My video about a typical week of a first year at UBC Med elaborates more about what my weeks like! Classes usually run 8am-5pm MWF, Tues & Thur 12-5pm ; after or before that depends on the week i’ll study more or do other life things to try and balance:)
