    This is one of the best Affinity tutorials I've seen, it's even a great overview for the Affinity Designer tools in general, some of which I haven't heard anyone else talk about. This was so nice to follow and to understand, I definitely learned a lot!

    Filled with supersaturated tips and techniques! And the dry humor is appreciated :D. I'm going to have to watch this several times to absorb it all and that's a Good Thing. This is one of the best art tutorials I've ever seen, period -- everything is explained and the Why is explained as much as the How To. Excellent tutorial and would love to see more from this artist.

There's so much information here, but since you provided the files, I can look back at what you did and see exactly how the image is put together. I'm going to try that masking trick the next time I run into a situation instead of cutting and adjusting the line work, because if you cut the line it re-adjusts any width thickness your line has, usually not to your liking. I liked the colouring segment too with the masking workflow for highlights, halftoning and shadows. Good video!

    Wow, just five mins in and this has been quite the comprehensive fast flight intro to the basic tools. Will be absorbing the next 40mins.
    I understand the disclaimer about people already knowing how to do some of these... but as a complete beginner I truly appreciate that you have taken the time to go through some of them like doing vector brushes from scratch and their caveats. At least there’s this video where I can point others to now.
    Edit: realized there at the end that you have a screen on your desk, do you connect your iPad to it? Or is it just for another computer? Curious if there’s a workflow that takes it into account.

    the one thing I notice though is that the brush you made ends up having some raster based texture which kinda loses the point of even using designer at this point, might as well make everything with pixels as if there are raster brushes it won't look as good when the image gets resized

  • @tcl78
    @tcl78 Год назад

    About coloring, wouldn't it be much easier and faster to have a "fill" tool that automatically creates a vector shape to fill a closed or almost closed area? Yes you can't use it everywhere, but there are plenty of places in this drawing where it would have saved a ton of time
