Your point that magic happens when we dare to let go is so true. Thanks for reminding us of that. It's our lifetime's work to put this principle into action. That entails developing the discipline to resist our in-born tendency to become complacent. Your words and suggestions are very much appreciated. C
Jason and Gayoung this is a great message. I wish everyone here in America could hear it. There are so many people here creating their own suffering by worrying about things they cannot fix or even influence. We need more Daoist teaching in the west. Mike B
Thank you for this! Some great life lessons as you pointed out. It’s a shame that society has come so far away from these teachings for the benefit of power and greed rather than being true to our own nature. I find myself smiling when my friends are giving their very emotional opinion about a disaster that is happening the other side of the world and how we need to help, although they seemed to have forgotten the last disaster that they were helping with six months ago! 🤔 It’s great to take a step back and focus on the things that really matter. Nourishing without owning/possessing or worrying about the outcome is something for me to take forward for myself! Thanks again 💕
You have hit the nail on the head Gregory, Over intelectulising, over analysing, over thinking. Grasping to understand to Innerstand this is key to getting out of ones mind. Meditation, calm mind to calm the environmental stimuli is a must. Thank you 🙏
Watching or listening to something that upsets you, and not reacting, is quite difficult. Social media really feeds the persona. But there is certainly peace in remaining detached from this sort of compulsive action.
Awesome, thank you for making me aware of Hans-Georg Moeller's & Philip J. Ivanhoe's translations of the Tao te ching. That gives me two more translations to look into.
Hey Guys, Luca brother so often says “I am hearing you” , when we talk , when visits home place, so you know he is really listening and that he loves you so much to really, really listen deep with whole self. Too much overthinking, socialisation, sucks, miss important things right under ure nose, by trying to be smart ass and not humble ! Clean mirror needed then see clearly, no dirt. Dirt = worldliness. Learning so much from talks. Hell no don’t own self 🤣 , worms will eat 🤣. 10 commandments suck, nothing new 👺👺. Love to be here to learn and be chill and enjoy company. 😁love from Bernardo
TLDR: Embracing the principles of Taoism, such as nishkama karma, mindfulness, innocence, selflessness, and non-interference, allows for a joyful and effortless way of life and true leadership and success. 1. 00:00 📜 Embrace the idea of carrying body and soul, act without attachment to results, and avoid contributing to chaos by practicing nishkama karma. 1.1 Discussing the 10th chapter of the Tao Te Ching, focusing on the idea of carrying body and soul, embracing the one, and avoiding separation. 1.2 Be like a newborn, loving and ruling without manipulation, holding to the feminine principle, achieving without arrogance. 1.3 The emphasis is on practicing nishkama karma, being a leader without seeking praise, and not being attached to the fruit of your actions in everyday life, similar to the dialogue in the Bhagavad-Gita. 1.4 Act without attachment to the results of your actions, moving as an emotionless limb of the Tao, without personal biases or reactions, in order to avoid contributing to chaos. 2. 04:43 🌿 Emphasizing the importance of governing one's own life, being one with the Dao and avoiding separation between body, soul, and the universe allows one to be steadfast without being drawn into worldly chaos, while overthinking and overanalyzing can hinder spiritual growth. 2.1 The chapter discusses how a sage should behave in a responsible position, emphasizing the importance of governing one's own life. 2.2 Being one with the Dao and avoiding separation between body, soul, and the universe allows one to be steadfast without being drawn into worldly chaos. 2.3 The body and soul must be in harmony, as separating them leads to overthinking and over analyzing. 2.4 Overthinking and over intellectualizing separates us from nature and our own essence, preventing us from embracing the universe and being in harmony with body and soul. 2.5 Modern society's focus on practicality and rationality has led to a neglect of the deeper divine qualities of existence, including art, literature, and music, which ultimately separates us from our true nature and reality. 2.6 Overthinking and overanalyzing can hinder spiritual growth, and Lao Tzu's point is to listen without letting your ego get in the way. 3. 11:53 👂 Listening without interference from our own thoughts is essential in Taoism, leading to complete mindfulness and representing the naturalness of the dao. 3.1 Listening, as discussed by Alan Watts, is not just hearing the sound but truly understanding the perspective of the other person without interference from our own thoughts. 3.2 Chanting in the Buddhist tradition is about enhancing the ability to listen without interpreting the words. 3.3 Pure listening involves being calm and quiet, without engaging in your own thoughts while the other person is talking. 3.4 Osho was interviewed and praised for his impeccable timing in responding to questions. 3.5 Enhancing listening and attending fully leads to complete mindfulness, like being a relaxed and present newborn babe. 3.6 Lao Tzu uses analogies like newborn babe, valley spirit, and bellows to represent the naturalness of the dao. 4. 18:53 🌱 Remaining in a childlike state of innocence and infinite potential allows for a joyful and effortless way of life without the burden of adult thoughts and worries. 4.1 Remaining in a childlike state of innocence and infinite potential allows for a joyful and effortless way of life without the burden of adult thoughts and worries. 4.2 Children are always fascinated and excited by everything because they are like blank canvases, representing the unhewn wood, while adults have been socialized to see the world in a certain way. 4.3 Cultivate oneself by cleansing the mind and striving to attain a primal vision free from socialization and cultural conditioning. 4.4 Imperfections in the mind need to be cleaned in order to see reality clearly, using the analogy of a dirty mirror or a lake disturbed by ripples. 5. 23:25 🌱 Cultivate innocence and spiritual aspiration, commit to the path of Taoism, rule with love and selflessness, prioritize the well-being of others over personal gain for true leadership and success. 5.1 Get rid of worldly distractions and mundaneness in order to cultivate innocence and spiritual aspiration, as taught in Taoism. 5.2 Dedication to the path of Taoism requires sustained effort and a lifetime commitment, not just a trendy or easily cast-off pursuit. 5.3 Leaders should rule with love and without manipulation, as cleverness can lead to manipulation and mental activity. 5.4 True leadership in Taoism is about being selfless, humble, and compassionate, leading from behind and prioritizing the best interests of the people. 5.5 The intrinsic qualities of a ruler, such as loving people and prioritizing the prosperity of ordinary people's lives, are more important than business and economics. 5.6 Genuine leadership and care for the well-being of team members leads to better performance and victory, as opposed to solely focusing on winning. 6. 31:52 🌿 Lao Tzu's Taoism emphasizes patience, non-interference, and self-care, warning against interfering with others and the importance of letting go of personal agendas. 6.1 Lao Tzu's teachings in Taoism emphasize the importance of patience, non-interference, and being in charge of our own lives without overly interfering with our own nature. 6.2 Changing directions and trying to achieve everything may not always lead to similar results, and it's important to focus on taking care of oneself and staying out of others' business. 6.3 Interfering with others, even with good intentions, contributes to chaos and conflict, and the key is to let go of personal agendas and ideas. 6.4 The heavenly gates represent the opening and closing of the mind, with the feminine principle playing a role, and different interpretations being possible. 7. 36:09 🌸 Embodying the feminine principle in Taoism means remaining flexible, humble, and compassionate, allowing for appropriate response without intellectual interference. 7.1 Remaining flexible and soft, knowing when to be inactive and active, while staying humble and compassionate, is the key to embodying the feminine principle in Taoism. 7.2 The universe and our consciousness both have qualities of expansion and contraction, affecting our state of being and the reality we experience. 7.3 Remaining in a soft, feminine, and present state is key in Taoism and martial arts, allowing for appropriate and immediate response to any situation. 7.4 Reacting to situations without observing and understanding the bigger perspective leads to a limited understanding and attention. 7.5 Being open and understanding all things without intellectuality, allowing life to happen without interference. 7.6 Avoid compulsively reacting to RUclips videos and comments, and instead practice the ability to simply observe without judgment. 8. 43:15 🌿 Lao Tzu's teachings in Taoism emphasize not being vexed by worldly problems, achieving without arrogance, and leading without dominating, while embracing acceptance of life and living authentically. 8.1 Lao Tzu's teachings in Taoism emphasize the importance of not being vexed by worldly problems, not overreacting, and not possessing or claiming ownership over achievements. 8.2 The Tao does not possess human emotions, nurtures and gives life without attachment or expectation, and encourages achieving without arrogance or domination. 8.3 Art and expression were more pure in the past, and Taoism teaches to lead without dominating and not to try to own your life. 8.4 The key to achieving mystical virtue in Taoism is to let go of control, allow the Dao to guide your life, and distance yourself from your own emotions and intellect. 8.5 Embrace acceptance of life, live authentically, and follow your own path without being influenced by societal values. 8.6 Chapter 10 of Taoism provides advice on leadership, guiding oneself through life, and doing things for others, applicable to everyone.
I love these interpretations of the Tao. Listening without judgement is a lost art. It seems people want to constantly interrupt with ego based opionions of their own without regard for understanding your opionions. The best thing I've learned is to just keep keep my mouth shut and listen. I've had Parrotts all my life. Their great listeners. They will cock their head toward you when you are talking and not utter a peep. But, be careful, they seem to have a talent for picking up 4 to 12 letter cuss words and unloading on your guest without provocation (laughing) but true. Anyone who has a keen interest in the art of listening and the value of watching their words, needs to buy a Parrot. Anyway good one Brother. Thanks also to MeYoung.
Haha, I love when parrots listen intently brother. They definitely know the right words to pick up haha. My Dad's galah was really good at that too. My friends would come over and he would let rip with what he thought about them haha.
