    I got my knaider and swaider in the mail today. Great quality and fast service. They are way better than the ones I made out of old ratchet straps.

    I was nervous about safety and ease of use. Let me tell you these things go on so easy and the build quality is fantastic. Would highly recommend for any true run and gun hunter looking to cut weight and bulk

    If you set one at waist height which is about 3’ and one just above your head you can just use the one above your head and step off the tree to get up to the first step, then you can wrap your line around the tree set another one above your head while standing on the first step and again use the third step to pull yourself up the the second step. Just be sure to tie off to the third step in case you fall..it’s a lot less effort getting up the tree and don’t have to deal with all that connecting and disconnecting.

    Thank you for the video. Have you considered making both sides the same? Each with a hook below the knee and carabiner with elastic at the hip. It seems like it would make the climb easier if the steps were not in a straight line. You could also easily pull up the hook side if you have heavy clothing.

    When you use the nader/swader system, do you ever decend the tree using your Grigri? I like the climbing method, but going up seems a little easier than coming down, and you can't get any simpler than coming down than a Grigri. YOu could unfasten the steps on the way down. thoughts?

    • @overwatchoutdoors910
      @overwatchoutdoors910  3 года назад

      That is exactly how I do it. But I use a mad rock safeguard instead of a Grigi. You could use any rappel setup as long as you had an auto block or something to stop you while you descend so that you can retrieve your climbing method

  • @justinmailloux549
    @justinmailloux549 5 лет назад

    Could you girth hitch a daisy chain of webbing and hook your knaider and swaider to that instead of a WE Step? Would be cheaper. For that matter, you could have a girth hitched daisy chain of webbing for the knaider and one for the swaider, and climb the whole tree with just them, as long as you keep your linesman belt between the two girth hitches. Cheap and light!

    do not use a Knaider Swaider ccombination without having your linemans belt attached or using a tether. The other day when practicing climbing with a Knaider Swaider and wild edge steps. I becaue was only going up one step nd did not have my linemans belt attached to the tree. One minute I was attached to stand with my knaider. the next scond I was hanging upside down hanging from my Knaider. Yes, I was hanging upside down. After geetting my witts because and that I was only one step high I could get myself straightened up and disconected from the tree. I was a valuable lesson to learned only one step off the ground. I bruised my wrist and rib cage, along with my pride. It could have been a lot worse if I had been up 20 feet.

  • @alsbro1234

    Ok should I do 5 wild edge steps with the naider and swaider or 8 wild edge steps and no naider or swaider. Its about the same price the 5 an N/S saves 3 pounds and 3 knots but seems like a little more of a hassle

    • @overwatchoutdoors910

      I can get to 20 feet with just 6 and a knaider which is a little easier than using the knaider and swaider with 4 steps

    Kick out while on the knaider equals hanging by your calf. Luckily I was only on the first step

    • @overwatchoutdoors910
      @overwatchoutdoors910  3 года назад

      I never get kick out on the knaider. It’s much easier to control than the swaider, which can kick out easily. But yeah I imagine that would be a weird predicament to be in. It’s a pretty acrobatic climbing method honestly. It can be really useful for saving weight but it’s really important to go slow and always keep your foot against the tree. Everyone recommends a long linemans belt but I prefer it shorter so you don’t get too far away from the tree. It helps with kicking out.

    • @frankpurciful7926
