    Have the exact model, added Mistral exhaust and Dart screen. This is my 5th Moto Guzzi. Nice choice, the 850 gets more comments than just about any other bike I have owned, I am 66 and like you, don't want a big bike anymore (had a 2013 California Custom but weighed over 330 Kgs-730 lbs). Hello from New Zealand, enjoy.

      Hi Bob. I like the sound of the Mistral exhaust, but I'm going to ride with the factory pipes for a while. It's a great looking bike and definitely stands out in a crowd. At our age the size and weight feels right and manageable. I want to be riding the Special into my 70's. I've already taken a liking to the bike and I can see how a person could learn to love the Guzzi's. Thanks for the comment, enjoy the ride!

    Thanks for posting. I have recently purchased an identical Moto Guzzi V7 850. Funnily enough I was attracted to the Machine in part by the colour match and the brown seat was part of this. It truly is a "Magic Carpet ride." I have already grown to love it.

    Just sold my GoldWing. I’m 68 looking for a smaller bike! This might just be my ride! Need to find a dealer in Minneapolis! In 1974 I had a brand new Suzuki 380 GT 2 stroke! What a fun bike!

      @SPSteve  2 года назад

      In 1974 I bought a new Kawasaki S3 400 triple, my friend bought a Suzuki 550 triple. The Suzuki 380 GT was another great bike from those days! If you're looking for a great retro bike that is easier to handle than your Gold Wing the Moto Guzzi V7 is definitely worth looking into.

    Nice video, thanks. I have the same bike. There is definitely something addictive about them, tho I'm not wild about the gearshift, or the brakes. Just for info, it is not a differential at the rear wheel, a differential allows two wheels on a shared axle to rotate at different speeds. The setup on the Guzzi is likely a crown and pinion. Cheers from UK.

    • @SPSteve
      @SPSteve  2 года назад +2

      I've ridden Harley's the past 40 years so compared to them I don't have any complaints about the transmission, at least not yet. I haven't ridden the bike fast enough to really test the brakes so I don't have an opinion about that. True on the differential, I misspoke. There certainly is something about them that is charming and special. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

    Beautiful bike & nice, informed video! (You also know how to pronounce 'Guzzi'!) I also like original mufflers on many bikes, with baffles removed vs. the expense & hassle of aftermarket exhausts or slip-ons. Can you remove the baffles on this bike??

    • @SPSteve
      @SPSteve  2 года назад +1

      Phillip, I don't see any way to remove the baffles from the stock mufflers. I wonder if that has something to do with the Euro 5 standards? In my opinion the factory mufflers are better looking than any of the aftermarket offerings so I'll probably stay with the factory exhaust unless something new is available in the future. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

I'm going to give my 96 Magna to my son if he graduates from college. He got his endorsement last year. A dealership will never give me what I'd want for the value of my Magna, which is in amazing condition for its age, so I might as well just pay it forward.

      My 2016 750cc V7ii sounds just great with stock exhaust. Why do so many riders want to attract attention and annoy the public at large.
      Yeah, when I was 14, I rode my Ducati through the woods to high school with a megaphone pipe.

    • @SPSteve
      @SPSteve  2 года назад

      @@savage22bolt32 they do sound nice with a little rumble but I agree that too much is annoying. My freind, who is also 65. just bought a new V7 just like yours. I'm a bit older and I think I like it more than he does. He usually trades twice a year so he won't have it long. I have to ride a trike due to my wife's health issues, she has batttled cancer eight times and can no longer climb on a two wheeler. She walks out in the garage with her walker (she can't even do that now since she fell and broke her collarbone) climbs on our trike and we ride whenever the weather permits. My wife has maxed out on chemo, radiation and cyber knife treatments, had 12 surguries in ten years and is currently on immunotherapy treatments and will be every 28 days for the rest of her life. We used to ride 15,000 miles a year. This year we managed to ride over 10,000 miles which I think is good considering her condition. Ride safe and enjoy every journey.

Bar-end mirrors too (CRG makes some seriously cool / functional mirrors…not cheap, but I think you’d appreciate the design and craftsmanship).

      Hi Marty!. The seating position is much different than my old Harley's. My first ride it felt like I was leaning over the head light and I couldn't find the foot pegs, haha, but I'm getting used to it. It reminds me of my 79 Honda 750F in some ways with the upright seating position and it feels very light and nimble. It is very polite, it happily chugs along at 2500 RPM just roll the throttle on and off to adjust speed no running up and down through the gears. If I bought a Kawasaki triple it would have just been garage art, I wouldn't have ridden it much. I hope to put a few miles on the Guzzi. I've ordered a couple small things for it, a USB charger and a battery maintainer. I'll get those wired up when they arrive. It'll get a luggage rack because I'll run errands with it. I took it up to Walmart this morning for a pair of cheap slip-on shoes. I think I'm going to like it. Thanks for the comment! 🙂
