- Stephen will discuss the recent history of Haskell over the last decade with an emphasis on the features that have shaped the language into its modern form in the 2010-2020 era. This will lead into a presentation about ten active areas of research and engineering problems that are the fundamental open problems that will shape Haskell for the next decade. These topics will range from type system extensions, industrial Haskell practices, compiler developments, and areas to apply Haskell in emerging areas such as data science and machine learning.
Stephen Diehl is CTO of Adjoint Inc, a financial services company in London using Haskell to build treasury management to allow real-time payments for multinational corporates. Stephen is a physicist turned Haskeller and dabbles in compilers, type systems, and numerical computing.
