Thanks for the video ,this 87 year old just started to work on ramp for my new shed , you gave me some easier way than I thought about. ,thanks again. From the calf. Wild man ( my old CB handle of long time ago ). 👍👍👍👍 GOD BbLESS and stay safe. .❤️❤️❤️❤️🦅🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I just like watching you beat up the lawn with the hammer.I always rested them on leveled blocks just below the surface. you gotter done thoe. Need to go up and down that ramp a few more times just in case.good video.
Great video. I just received my she shed and I need a ramp to put my things in. This was one of the simplest DIY ramps I have seen. I can't wait to get started. Thank you! Nice Job Sir!
“She shed”. Can’t men have anything for themselves without women having to copy us? The basis for the ManCave (which even sounds better then she-shed) is for men to get away from all your chick crap and candles in the house and give us a little space of our own. Now you’re invading that too!
I used the eyeball or what I call the barnyard method. I held up a piece of scap and marked the angle on the scrap and then cut my joists to match. It took a couple of tries until I got it right.
What angle should I cut the support frame? My shed is about the same height. By the way, I never knew the wood being right side up. Thank you for that. Now I know.
LtCopeGaming it was an eyeball deal. You could use a protractor to measure and transfer the angle. Or just mount the plate you are going to screw the long runner too hold the runner up to it, eyeball it and cut the angle. Easy button...

Besides orienting the boards with the cup grain arching downward, it is highly beneficial to.fasten the 1× decking with 1/4" space between boards to provide drainage, ventilation and allow for expansion by moisture from precipitation. I would have added at least one extra stringer, spacing looks wide; although I don't know your dimensions. It looks wide at about 5 feet. Thirty inches is too wide for 750# load.

Hey PaddyG. Great video. I am about to do the same and I was looking over a few videos and found yours. Great work, simple and clean. You got a like and a new sub from me.
That's a good looking shed. Like that color. Are those gaps under the doors or does the T1-11 come down to the floor? I am trying to air tight my shed more because I don't want rodents getting in. I live near a wooded area. Nice job.
I built one very similar to this and its quite stout, unfortunately my cub cadet lawn tractor could not go over the lip of the shed from the ramp. even with the deck in full up because of the design of the deck.
Your “proof of concept” was lacking foresight of deck height. Why didn’t you run a solid board for your upper 3/4” lift and lower ramp? Those two little boards on each end look like an after thought.
Absolutely stupid. Now not to make a ramp. How does he have all his fingers after all these years? Beat the ground into submission. Don't waste your time, or worse, get bad habits from this video.
The tip with the cup and circle of rings is something I would've never thought of. Thanks for that!! Great video!
I didn't know that point about the boards cupping. Thanks for the tip!
Hey thank you for watching!
Thank you so much. This is exactly the type of ramp I want to build and for the same reason.
Good video. I needed this motivation to complete mine this weekend

Nice job Paddy. I hope your Snapper mower appreciates the new home you got for it.
i didnt know about the boards cupping either ty for the tip!!! getting ready to build a ramp
Thanks for the video, I’m building my ramp on Saturday. Good job.
James Crow good luck and enjoy the process!
Nice job and love your shed . Greetings from uk 🇬🇧
Nice job. Looking forward to your creative endeavors in your workshop.
Great job. I love the video. You make it look so easy
Just what i need thanks for the video !!!
4:03 I didn’t know about that, thank you!
How did you attach those 3 boards to your shed? Did I miss something?
I just like watching you beat up the lawn with the hammer.I always rested them on leveled blocks just below the surface. you gotter done thoe. Need to go up and down that ramp a few more times just in case.good video.
LJ Anderson thank you sir! I did get in a couple more laps!

No... thank you for watching!

@@FranchiseSIX5 You said it... not me! LOL
A man would just put his stuff in it. No ramp needed. Herein lies the difference between man and weak woman
When building anything with boards, my Dad always told me to make sure the decking is“Bark Side Up” That’s how I learned it
Love it.
Lift the mower deck all the way up folks.
I didn't see how he secured the joists to the shed.
Can someone tell me please?
Nice work, well done...
What sizes of wood did you use and how did you figure the bottom angle of your main posts
Would love to know the technique you used to figure the angle cuts on your "rafters".
I used the eyeball or what I call the barnyard method. I held up a piece of scap and marked the angle on the scrap and then cut my joists to match. It took a couple of tries until I got it right.
PaddyG DIY nice!!

Please wear safety glasses when cutting the wood 😊 thanks for the video and your tips,!
Thank you Lucille!
the wood should not be touching the ground. The joist should be on concrete pavers to prevent early rotting and more stability.
How did you figure out the angle to cut the initial boards? No one says that in their videos…
I think it starts by eye and adjust it till you get one right... then scribe the other 2 the same.

Not a single ramp video I have watched talks much about how to find the a proper slope. Looks good though.

What degree was the 2x8 cut at the bottom?

God bless you too
Most of us know you shouldnt put the lunber in direct contact with the ground also.
What size is your shed it's very nice 👌🏾
Nice
Did you trim off the bottom of the doors?
Hey PaddyG. Great video. I am about to do the same and I was looking over a few videos and found yours. Great work, simple and clean. You got a like and a new sub from me.
I didnt know that, thx!
how far is your ramp off the ground
About a foot.
I didn't know. Thank you.

notta3d the siding ends below the floor on the outside. Thanks for watching!
How long will it take for those boards resting on the ground to rot, maybe rest them on concrete blocks. Great looking ramp!
I built one very similar to this and its quite stout, unfortunately my cub cadet lawn tractor could not go over the lip of the shed from the ramp. even with the deck in full up because of the design of the deck.
You didn't do the proof of concept step.
Have you not got a shovel? Dig out the base rather than trying to pound it flat! Otherwise good job.
LOL, yep... I agree! Thanks for the comment!
Show us the video on how you did it, Norman.
Hey, nice shed! Off-topic question. Does that insulation keep the shed cooler? Or is that for sound insulation/shop noise abatement? Thanks!
Mike Placzek thanks for the comments. There is no insulation in the shed.
@@PaddyGDIY I think he asked because it looks like the doors have insulation in them.
Nice but it's not treated wood it will rotten the boards with the weather on the grass...
Even treated wood will rot in direct contact with the ground.
Growler? Like EA-18G Growlers? The wolf on the hat looks like a growler squadron I've seen
How , much was the shed? $4,000
Almost dead right!
and how long is it
It’s about 6 feet long.
It’s about a foot high at the top.
Been a while since I’ve heard somebody know about cupping
Its a nice ramp but it still looks like your mower deck is hitting the floor
Wish there were closeups on his work. Half the time don’t know what he’s doing.
Should have poured some concrete pads or at least put a paver under stringers...rot in two yrs
Yes you are right. I should have. Thanks for watching!
Your “proof of concept” was lacking foresight of deck height. Why didn’t you run a solid board for your upper 3/4” lift and lower ramp? Those two little boards on each end look like an after thought.
Because I didn’t think of it! Lol! Good idea thanks for watching!
100%

You can criticize without abuse, or just move on to the next video that fascinates your ego.
how did you figure your angles?
