Hi liz, the halo CE terminals were definitely meant to have unanswered question's, the biggest mystery being the "meddlers" ship that crash landed on halo waaaay before humanity even achieved space travel. Also, the other monitors experienced severe issues after the rings were fired, especially the monitor from delta halo (halo 2 ring). The flood broke out of containment only about 5-10k years after the rings were fired, which is why in Halo 2 we see a nearly 100,000 year old gravemind below the library with the captured monitor.

Your other question was whether the Forerunners created the Flood. Short answer, no they did not. The Flood was an infection that occurred due to a millennia old conflict. If you are interested in finding out more about the origins of the Flood, I'd recommend reading the Forerunner trilogy written by Greg Bear. You can find out a LOT about the Forerunners and the Flood and other very interesting things if you read those books. They aren't very big but they do cover a lot of stuff and whatever other questions you might have about the Forerunners and the Flood will answered there. Anyways, great reaction, cheers!

Girl, Spark didn't released the Flood, it was the Covenant and Keyes that did, Spark was trying to prevent it from reaching out beyond the ring.
