Big thanksss for this amazing video! The exhaust burble setting is turned off now (even I wasn't a big fan of it). It is now replaced by an amazing intake sound :)
Nice mods Jimi. I recommend you to change brake pads to such like Endless MX72 (for fast street use). Also rear subframe inserts (Powerflex, yellow or black) will tighten the rear and give you more feedback and precision
Thanks for this review, I was the previous owner of this car (most of the mods where done by me). I was planning to bring the car for a review to AutoTopNL, but never had the time and a few weeks later I sold this car and got a BMW M3 F80. Great that the new owner (Jimi) had it reviewed by you guys and nice to hear that you enjoyed the car as much as I did, the burble settings was indeed a bit to much, and like Jimi already said I have turned those off for him. @@acebrometheus6 I think it was something like this in MHD: Exhaust Burble: On Duration (base) 0.1s Duration (sport) 0.1s Aggressiveness: Hard (better do a lower setting) Min RPM: 3000 (or something, didn't want to have pops & bangs when I was driving less then 30km/h or something like that). Min Speed: 0kmh/0mph Exhaust flaps always open in sport mode: Enabled So when you had a pop it was only one, and not a fart for half a second or longer ;)
M135i manual LSD owner here, i completely agree on everything you said (stock handling, LSD, Engine, gearbox), it is just a unique package, a lovely great little car, even with a few flaws. Talking about brakes I’m running ebc yellow and braided lines, with stock power i find them adequate.
What a great car. I used to have the 3 series with the same motor, real wheel drive, manual transmission and the M-sport short shifter. Such a great driving experience - in some respects better than my current RS4 (4 wheel drive, AT).
Also my baby m135i manual F20 my 2015 came from Netherlands! Great car with right upgrade, frist off m performance lsd, M4 lca and ts, intercooler, charge pipe, sports cat, cdv off, M performance BBK 370mm, and KW. That's it
I like these 135 140 M reviews, it gets us great performance and drivability for the price... Some of us cant afford 100k€+ out of pocket. Its nice to see all the cars, but end of the day you didn do nothing if you dont own or drive something decent ... Keep up the good work
They become more an more popular as people realize there are no manuals anymore But during production days 2012-2018 there was only ca 20% manuals in M135/140 But the 8-speed is pretty good, quick and solid. So it’s more popular as the old SMG on E46 etc
if your used to a miata or something yes. If your coming from other modern cars no. Its not like your losing where you are because the throws are long enouygh. The miata needs tactile feel becasue its such a short shifter that you get it wrong by just a little bit and you could be in 5th instead of 3rd. It feels like the steering wheel level of vibration in the shifter so it vibrates but it doesn't really feel truly connected to the drivetrain like old cars do.
Funny how my 2014 BMW Z4 35is with "only" 378HP and 589Nm (Mosselman stage 1 tuned and dyno'ed) can do 100-200 km/h in 9,94 sec (Dragy verified), yet this M135i with 430HP and 630NM does 10.2 sec.. That's a 50HP and 41Nm difference.. Is the manual really that much slower than DCT? Or does this 1-series simply have a lot more drag than a E89 Z4? Or are the submitted MHD Stage 2+ numbers only theoretical?
@@zee1unknown171 that was the first reason why I bought this car 4.5 years ago, also about 0-100 times I didn't care. It was for me all about the driving fun! But because of having a son now, it was time for a bit bigger car. Otherwise I would still had this car, but now Jimi can enjoy it :)

@AutoTopNL Which setup do you use for your POV videos?
I am particularly interested in how you mount your GoPro or DJI action camera. With a headband?
The steering wheel is not straight is it!?
But I have missed the 1 series content. As a 116i enthusiast I do love a fast 1 series :D
It would be nice to know which date these videos were recorded in for reference; today it was 6c in sweden.

won't downshifting into almost redline rpm damage the engine and gearbox?
Good
my main gripe is that i want the crazy launch so awd would be ideal. But also id feel so bad launching a stock manuel in awd like yikes
Can someone send me a link of where i can buy alvantara boot and regular m pref. shifter like the one in video please😂
What? I thought all Fxx Series LCI were M140i with B58. Didnt know there are LCI with N55 engine 🤯
