First off, Dr. Ratio's VA is killing it. He's really nailing that pompous tone while still letting Ratio's genuine desire to help people come through. Secondly, Ratio's not so bad. His demeanor is...poor, but his heart's in the right place.
Wait so what was his intentions through this entire quest? And how exactly did he make researchers realise not to idolise Geniuses? Guess I should’ve spent my time carefully reading each and every dialogue cuz now I couldn’t understand anything

He put them in a situation where they had to depend on themselves. I think they mentioned a researcher named Adler had been the one to finally get them out of the spacial thing Ratio had dropped them into.
what makes me emotional is that since ratio thinks a helping hand prevents fools from learning how to pick themselves up, the fact he offers help to aventurine both verbally ("tell me if you can't hold on any longer") and via the note (when he's on his "last legs," in a moment of solitude and despair) shows how much he respects him 😭

A lot of people in the comments seems to think Dr.Ratio is the one pulling the string. That's not exactly true. We don't know for sure if he was the one who stole the Phase Flame from Ruan Mei, but we can be sure that he is very much knowledgeable about Ifrit's plan, just like how he knows about Ruan Mei "expiriment". I would like to think that he knew about Ifrit's intentions, but decided to only reduced casualty so he can use the incident as a lesson for the so called "researchers". This theory would fall in lines more with Screwlum's comment about both parties modus operandi.
yep i agree. i rewatched the cutscene to get clarification for myself and I got exactly what you did. looking back, i can understand why people think ratio did everything because of 2:54, but that ignores the previous dialogue that says screwllum is only hypothesizing, not confirming ratio was pulling the strings

I like Dr Ratio a lot already. He is the pompous genius, the guy who knows he is actually above most others in terms of inteligience. It's understandable to hate stupidity and foolishness, i myself find some people's choices to be ridiculous, had they just thought things through. I like that he didn't outright stop the attack, but he intervened in a way that will teach the attacked a lesson. As he said, only when the fools have no one else to help them out do they actually pick themselves up. He hates stupidity, so he gave them 1 option, the need to think smarter. Even if there was negativity among it, they would still come to the right conclusion. He gives you the question and forces you to answer it by yourself.
My take is Dr. Ratio knew the Inferno attack would happen soon. That’s why he went to the space station to ‘observe’ what all these ‘genius’ people would do without any help from Herta. While keeping the situation in his favor to teach these ‘idiots’ a valuable lesson at the same time.
i'm so happy they're working together now. and new SU proves that Screwllum is inspired by Ratio’s ideas and wants to bring them to life. i absolutely love how these two characters develop through each other
Those two are like sides of the coin, on one hand Dr Ratio appears condescending and strange, but overtime u learn that he is quite emphathatic. On the other side, Ruan Mei appears caring. late reply but,, I feel like ruan mei is mischaracterized by some people sometimes. she's not a terrible person,, she's also not the best. she doesn't really understand how to love, and her past experiences don't help in that department. but despite that, she still cares about her creations (the cat creatures (?)) deep down. both ratio and ruan mei are morally grey characters, it's perfectly fine to like one more than the other but I wish people stopped making her look like a manipulative heartless person when she really isn't

He want everyone be equal intelligence as him (if possible). Not waiting the answers by someone smarter than you but by your own wise choose. It's doesn't matter if it's fail, you learn to improve. Practice makes perfect, failure become lessons.
So in the end... Both Hertha and Ruan Mei never knew Dr Ratio (whether they were pretending not to know him for confidential reasons or Dr. Ratio removed their memories in an unknown menthod). Only us, Screwllum and Asta knew him.
In the end Herta sends a message saying that she doesn't know him so she probably doesn't know him maybe she used something to make people believe that yes like Ruan Mei did

The attack was real, the researchers would have been thrown into space by the Duke had Ratio not used the Phase Flame to change their destination to somewhere safe, he then decided to use the situation to fuck with the Genius Society just because.

So what happened prior to the cutscene is that Herta wanted you to find the Phase Flame, which caused people involved with the space station's dark web to spontaneously combust, turns out that it just teleports people. In actuality, while we thought that it was all Ifrit's doing, it was Dr. Ratio who released the Phase Flame in order to help cure idiocy.

A bunch of researchers who were doubting the heads researchers and herta were being targeted by the grand Duke of inferno as a way to stir chaos and wreck the genius society’s reputation, however Dr ratio intercepted theeese attacks with a curio he stole from herta and Ruan mei, he wanted to use the chaos for his own benefit though so instead of having them teleported in somewhere like the main control room, he instead had them teleported deep in the seclusion zone
The Archduke's attack is real but Dr Ratio cancels it out using the blue flame object but he takes the opportunity to teach them a lesson that they should not depend on the geniuses because THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEM, Ruan Mei doesn't care about their silly creations, the geniuses consider humans idiots anyway. common why should a human idolize a genius who doesn't care? 😷
