- Look...we're on the road again! Well alright! Actually going to do another one!
This Baltimore to wherever odyssey takes us to both Virginia and West Virginia (obviously I hope). We'll visit some familiar points-but we use new routes to get to 'em! Many new and not-traveled-in-a-while roads here!
Scenery, trains (sort-of) and even a wrong turn! All here for your viewing pleasure! This was on August 29 2021.

A BIG Thank You, bro! Whenever I do this sort-of thing I always try to vary the route a bit. But-as you see-eventually wind up back on a road I know anyway! Can't get around that! If you can at least make it to the overlook that would be great! Now working on the one from PA where we saw the Statue of Liberty. Actually bouncing back and forth between that and Memorial Daze! Enjoyed the WW engingines and the Cacapon overlook.
Those WW locos are great, but I wish they hadn't rebuilt the facility! Old one had more class! Cacapon Overlook one of my favorite spots since the early 90s when I first discovered it. Thanx again, Charles!

I grew up in Newark, Delaware and my family did lots of day trips to spots like Conowingo, Aberdeen, Assateague, Valley Forge, Chadds Ford, and even Harper's Ferry and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Have been binging on a lot if retro travel vids lately so when I got to 4:58 and saw the modern blue smiley delivery truck my brain was like "What!?" and then it sunk in that this is recent. Duh Me!
Rail Road Bridges (22:22) Really Have An Effect On Me ~ Don't Know Why.
It's recent alright, but I do have a lot of movie film that's retro for sure-dating back to 1970! Maybe Amazon did the front of those trucks like that deliberately! Who knows! Anyway, that RR bridge isn't too terribly fearsome; compared to those 100+ year old bridges that cross CSX and Amtrak over the Susquehanna! At times I can't get myself to walk over even this small one; being afraid I might lose my footing and slip between the ties! Thanx for the view...will soon be working on an Odyssey I took on Halloween!

Hello, John! Really great hearing from you! I've had to slow down a bit due to circumstances, but I try to get out there when I can. Still doing the music thing too! Recorded a band called Memorial Daze back in June (same as I did in 2019). Should have it up in not-too-long. Here's a test edit of one of their songs. I still try to come up with new tunes on a weekly basis ... lots of evolutions and revolutions going on over the years but I think I got a few good ones out ... still the old school rock n roll are hard to beat ... Yeah, that classic stuff is hard to beat! Honestly, I couldn't tell you what's out there now! Thank You for your concern on my health-much appreciated. Feeling better now, but still get that back pain on some of those long drives. Between that and the price of gas, yeah-had to "slow down" a bit!
Haven't done anything new musically myself for a couple decades now, but will be going through my old reel tapes as there are a few "gems" that might go over today. Might be well worth it, as I've already digitally remastered some of that old stuff with surprising results; some of which I've already posted. I hear instrumentation in these recordings I don't recall hearing before-and I was there!! Even have a few "killer cuts" where we really take off...just waiting for the "right time" to post!

@@bullfrog1954 by the way, not sure this is the correct pronunciation, but my parents called Cacapon like this: kah cape on, emphasis on the kah sound.
You might be right...heard many place names pronounced different ways, depending on who you ask. Example: Media PA. We'd assume it's a long E as per usual, but my lady's mother, who grew up in the area in the 1930s, pronounced it with a short E (like the 2nd E in 'different'). That's how I pronounced it in my videos, only to be "corrected" by a few viewers who go with the long E. I'll take the word of someone who lived there before the word of others. Probably went to long E as the old-timers moved out and younger folk moved in. I still think it's interesting though! Adds interest to my travels!

Hello Eugene...hope you had a great holiday too along with the rest of the season. Gotta clear up a few things, though...most railroads are private enterprises, not federally owned. Trespassing? I spoke with someone at Winchester Station a few years back, explained who I was and what I was doing, and received permission to be on the property. At my age I'm known in at least a few railroad circles and have had no problem with security. My videos have been used by tourist lines in the past, and I've even been offered free rides on Amtrak! Yeah, I'm known that well. But-above all-why would I want to steal a locomotive?? C'mon! And if the RR still runs to Berkeley Springs, why didn't I see any track by the station? Don't think so. Anyway, hope I cleared up a few things. You're welcome to view the vids, but please understand-I'm old (and experienced) enough to know what's going on. And a little fame helps too.
BTW I know glass comes from sand...
