[Ultimate Guide] Onimusha Warlords vs. Genma Onimusha

- When Capcom made a port of the original Onimusha to Xbox, new elements were added to the game, in this video i'll be showing the differences between Onimusha Warlords (PS2) and Genma Onimusha.
Genma onimusha is a masterpiece, I been playing onimusha warlords since I was 5 am 25 now and a few years ago got a Xbox 360 just to play genma. It is the true onimusha experience imo. There are so many more enemies and difficult enemies it’s way more chaotic than warlords. I probably beat genma on hard 10 times it’s just too good. I recently did a “kill everything” run where I would walk back and forth between all the rooms until everything was completely extinct. Then when you go to face a boss, all the areas reset with new enemies. I had 280,000 orbs (280 bars) of red orbs after the dark realm. I also tried to do a run on hard without using any medicine but I couldn’t get past the last 6 waves in the tower
Amazing man you're truly a hardcore fan of Genma, and 280 bars of red souls is mind blowing.
The Ogre Tower is really difficult in hard mode, my main issue with it is the red bulls.
@@bosscollection4578 Ogre tower on hard is not just difficult... It's HELLISH DIFFICULT MAN! I remember having to deal with 3 red bulls at once, small space, they hit like truck, empty magic, no health = quick death! If it weren't enough, after them comes a floor with a possessed doll, if you are lucky enough, she leaves the room after some cat and mouse game, but you know how dangerous she is... And, in the end, animated ogre armor attacks you for final challenge! But after all, there is special satisfaction for beating Ogre tower on hard... 😎😇
I actually bought Genma Onimusha before I got a xbox 360 to play it.
I really like the different item placement in Genma, especially getting the bow so early makes it feel like a completely different experience. Kinda like the Arranged mode of the original Resident Evil.
Totally agree, getting the bow early makes it easy to kill the Gyarans after beating Osric.
Great video..Capcom is a bunch of idiots for not remastering the Genma version
Yeah that's pretty much my opinion, i bet they would've sold more copies if they remastered genma.
They were always idiots... That's nothing new.
@@bosscollection4578should have been a bonus for beating the normal version
Agree, lazy bastards Crapcom....😢
I own all three versions of onimusha 1, just finished the HD version today, this was a great video.
7:30 There is squirrel in the big tree, if you get close you will see it and hear it and it will drop some souls as well
What a cool video, I had no idea Genma existed.
One of my favorite series.
I've only ever owned/played Genma ominusha. This really makes me appreciate the massive upgrade. These are some of my favourite parts of the game.
Ikr, occasionally i do warlords runs and i always find myself trying to do a charge attack or magic charge, also the fact that warlords doesn't have hard mode makes it extremely easy and unchallenging.
@@bosscollection4578 The fact that the playstation 4 version doesn't have the new update that Genma did And that it is just a remastered version of the PS2 versions. Sucks
Awesome video! I've been obsessed with Onimusha these last two weeks so it's nice to see the differences between the versions. Genma looks like a great time.
While I'm glad that we got a remaster of Warlords, I really wish we got Genma more. It doesn't even need a remaster. Just a straight port would be amazing.
ide like to include that with the different item placement this leads to different door keys which can lead to drastically different routs, locations being visited at different times, and kaedes main play segment being in different areas doing different things.
Thanks for this video! About a year ago, I was online looking around for old blogs or forums that could explain these differences in detail and didn't find anything sufficient. This video was an immediate click.
Same feeling here! Great video
I’m about to cop an original Xbox and Gemma cause this looks way better than warlords gameplay wise 😂
Or you can Get Black Kinect Xbox 360 with Hard drive like me to play original Xbox games but Original Xbox is cool to.
I remember getting Genma Onimusha (as a gift) for my Xbox when I've already beaten Onimusha for the PS2. One day I decided to play it on the Xbox to see if it was any different, and was astounded. The game was mostly chill until the Ayame cutscene. That went from 0 to 100 REAL quick.
To top it off, this was at a time where the internet was back in it's infancy w/ dialup and getting into DSL. No looking up guides for help other than purchasing an official strategy guide. And PS2s needed an addon modem the size of a brick to connect to online multiplayer. Good times.
Loving the onimusha content, warlords was the first game I ever played when I was 3 years old. I would love to see a video for onimusha 2 talking about issen dance/chain issens, it's my favorite of the series but I can never get them right so I always have to resort to the triple charge issens lol. You're doing God's work with this channel, instantly subscribed.
Thanks i really appreciate it man, I've considered making a video about issen but to be honest I'm still working on perfecting my skills, in Onimusha 2 I've learned how to iseen/chain issen most enemies except the bosses (i still suck at issen-ing them).
Here's a note i've discovered lately while attempting to get a perfect walkthrough in Onimusha 2, the game doesn't always count automatic chain issens (triple charge chain issens), out of 4 or 5 automatic chain issens the game counts only 2 of them sometimes just one, i think the devs considered it cheating.
@@bosscollection4578 Wow, that makes my issen score make so much more sense now. 😅 Guess that's even more motivation to get chain issens down now, looking forward to that video when you get those bosses down. When it comes to bosses, I only ever got jujudormah once with an accidental triple charge issen combo when I was younger with the hyoujin-yari. Didn't even know those were possible at the time, absolutely blew my mind
In case you haven't read my article in Reddit about recent discoveries in Onimusha 2, killing multiple enemies with a single issen (not chain issen) will be counted as just one kill 😔
@@bosscollection4578 Jeez after so long I may have finally found the right place for my question ! ^^
Well, 1st, I watched your whole video with great pleasure and attention as I have never completed warlords but only Genma (including the full dark realm and Ogre tower). And I was really wondering about these differences, so thanks a lot for your work and great video ! =)
Then, I would have liked to know if it is already possible to chain Issen (automatic or manual) in Genma O. ? I can not remember. Thanks in advance for your answer.
microsoft and capcom, fucked up with releasing warlords instead of genma on the xone.
lol yeah
i never thought somebody will make a video that shows the difference. you're the best
The original game is like "Kingdom Hearts."
While the second version on the XBox exclusive is like "Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix" but with a ton of secrets and their game mechanics is new.
I like the comparison.
Since i'm huge fan of Onimusha games, i was aware of Genma version of the game for og Xbox, but i didn't knew that Genma version is this much better than original. 😮 I wish Capcom port Genma vers for PC... 😢
Me too friend, i think all Onimusha fans wished for Genma to be remastered instead of Warlords, now that I think about it, if they went with Genma instead of Warlords that would probably generates more sales because of the added content (Ogre Tower, more armors, hard mode, Ayame, skippable cutscenes, so much more), i hope they give Onimusha 2 and 3 a chance.
Concise, and very informative. Well done! I would love to play this version of the game sometime.
You totally should, I'd say go with the original Xbox but if you don't have one then emulation is a good option too.
Dafug i didn't even know a Genma version exists 😭
Had to come back to this video. Just in time for the Netflix special lol
Amazing comparative 🙏🙏🙏✨✨ i loved onimusha, i hope play la versión genma
I absolutely love Onimusha, I played this series so very much during my teen years. I hate that Capcom has been neglecting Onimusha, Dino Crisis and Breath of Fire for a very long time. While they continue pumping out even more Resident Evil (and I love RE too but you know what I mean)
When they remastered warlords I was very upset they didn't release the Genma version since I had always wanted to play considering it's the definitive version.
Also the choice to only remaster Warlords and use that as an indicator of the series popularity was so brain dead. They should have remastered 2 and 3 as well and have us a collection, then maybe it would have sold better.
We got the anime recently on Netflix, hopefully that is a sign of renewed interest in the series.
I also felt disappointed when they remastered Warlords instead if Genma, I think the added content in Genma would've made the game sell more.
Genma onimusha its hard to play between onimusha warlords on ps2. But i still love genma onimusha because lot more feature than onimusha warlords.
The only Onimusha game I've never played. I would have to buy a copy and a working Og Xbox to play it.
You could run it on an Xbox 360 too.
Warlords - More Conservative but Balances
Genma - Over the top and Extra Content
I may be in the minority that prefers the original warlords over genma. I played both versions and the both have strength and weaknesses almost to a 50/50. I could not stand that damn stalker doll!
Since the versions are a year apart, i did notice some minor tweaks in combat and controls didnt seem as cumbersome. The perry system was better on genma. Chains could still be blocked and i think the sword lock and allowing you to throw the enemy over the shoulder was still in tact from warlords. Some camera angles were changed slightly compared to the original
Whenever i want to replay the first Onimusha i go fro genma, it's so good and gives me so much challenge even on Normal difficulty, couple of weeks ago i played the remastered version of Warlords and i was kinda disappointed, i went through all the game without much of a challenge all at all (except for the 4 bulls).
For Genma, the doll can be annoying but most of the time it can easly be avoided, the only downside i can think of in Genma is its damage/health management; you take too much damage from attacks which makes it hard for you to practice Issen.
Hey there thank you for the video but how are you able to play this game? I tried it on my 360 but there is this weird graphical issue with and it makes it unplayable. I really hope we get this on game pass, it’s beyond me why capcom didn’t remaster this instead 🤦🏾♂️
Xemu Emulator on windows, it runs it near pefect.
I want them to remaster the others.
Best game of all time. However I wish you could start out the game with the ogre armor from the very beginning
Yeah, like a true hellish mode with everything unlocked from the beginning.
Thanks
I never got to play the Genma version of the game and damn I feel cheated because it looks so much more interesting then the original. It looks like they added a whole bunch of elements that you'd find in Onimusha 2. And isn't the enemy at 11:27 from Onimusha 2 or 3?
Please anyone know how I can get this to play on my 360 ? I have the disc version and it's not working but it's on the backwards compatible list!!!
There's plenty of tutorials online, you could also play it via an emulator on PC.
@@bosscollection4578 I've sorted it thank you, turns out I did have a hard drive lol but you have to log into your old Xbox live account which I haven't used in ten plus years and forgot password lol but all sorted now cheers 😁
Do anyone have some info on possible remake/remaster of Onimusha series in general? 🤔
Excuse me im working on a Smash bros project with Samanosuke.
Can i ask you a question?
What area in the series would be the best representation of the series for a Smash bros stage?
Hi, this is a difficult question for me, first good luck with the project you're working on I can't wait to see it, second, I'm not familiar with smash bro games and what should make a good areas for levels, I'd say take a look at Onimusha Blade Warriors you'll probably get inspired, also you might want to post this on the Onimusha subreddit and the Onimusha discord, I'm sure you'll get the assistance you need there, my apologies for not being so helpful to you.
@@bosscollection4578 that's fine no worries
It seems they backported features from 2 to try to streamline the game more, alongside extra content. Sucks that the remaster is based off Warlords, and that the supposed remasters of 2 and 3 got cancelled due to low sales of Warlords HD.
"Sucks that the remaster is based off Warlords,"
No it does not since Warlord is the original game as it is meant to be. The rest is actually then your fault, so to speak. Stop crying!
What's the gist of the visual enhancements from the PS2 version? and how this port compare to the Warlords remaster?
Genma (xbox) is better than warlords (ps2) in terms of 3d elements, due to the power of the Xbox the characters looks more crisp and clean unlike warlords (ps2).
Genma Onimusha (xbox) is way inferior to the remastered version of Warlords tho this isn't a fair comparison.
@@bosscollection4578 I see, thanks! I thought Genma had superior 3D models which the remaster didn't end up using.
This smokes the original. It's like comparing Resident Evil to the Director's Cut or beyond that
I know why they didn’t remaster Genma because it was to please PlayStation fans
You mean someone did not want to see you naked in front of yout TV wanking over your Genma edition? Sure, I wouldn't want to see that either.
GENMA all the way and because it is more rewarding. The boss fights, The Armors.
Exactly, once you experience the awesomeness of Genma; Warlords becomes a massive downgrade, though i do still enjoy Warlords from time to time.
@@bosscollection4578Also just done the game a week ago after 4 days with completing all except for 1 Flouride on XEMU. The Bishamon Sword never looked more badass when paired with the Oni Armor. Also had fun Killing Ayame on every encounter a total of...12 I think including the Castle Entrance on the GENMA Gate.
wth ? why capcom release onimusha warlord into steam instead genma onimusha ?
I still cant get over the fact that they would take out 10 fluorites from the original, cant charge your sword anymore, got rid of the ogre tower, deleted 2 pieces of armor, whoever remastered this game should be in jail. Shame on you.
How do you get that sword from the beginning of the game I know there's that horrible minigame that next to impossible but there's a way to complete it on a harder mode in a certain amount of time gets it right?
Hey the doll stalks like nemises yeah and my ex 😆 yeah me and nemesis dated 🤢😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣 hell nooooo...🤪.
Hopefully steam we'll have this Gemma onimusha version somewhen?
Getting ready to play onimusha warlords on pc and damn no green souls or charged attacks??:(
I suggest after you finished Warlords go and install Xemu Emulator and get Genma, if you like challenge you won't regret it.
@@bosscollection4578
I tried it with Xemu but it only gives a black screen. Which version of Xemu do you use?
Get the latest version. The emulator needs some files to work, you could get these files from your og Xbox (dump them) or else try google.
How do you have the bishamon sword this early in the game?
That's the Ultimate mode difficulty, you start the game with Bishamon Sword and a lot of items.
ps2 was way ahead of xbox in that time but gotta say xbox did a good job on genma
How was the PS2 ahead of its time when the XBOX had clearly more power to boot and better graphics overall?
The Xbox were way powerful than the ps2, you could see that in the games that were released on both systems
@@bosscollection4578 the only time xbox had a better console was ps4 vs xbox one
genma in the og xbox the only thing i hate is that about it is the f**king doll
Can i play onimusha genma on my xbox360?
Yeah it could be played just fine on the 360.
@@bosscollection4578 what about the part 2 and 3 are those exclusive so ps2?
There’s a port of the 3rd game on pc though I doubt it’s on Steam; so you’re stuck on PS2, if you have PS2 discs of any of the games you could run them just fine on the fat PS3 model
Or you could rip the games and play them via an emulator.
@@bosscollection4578 and after that i will continue my ninja gaiden 2 that shit hard hahaha
Link please
Thanks Xbox
bro fuck the original I want the port
5:19 so Capcom added this because theyknew western gamers would go wanky-danky over it? I always find it stupid to have difficulty differences either nobody asked for or simply because on one and of the ocean someone thinks their marksmen are better at gaming.
Mega Man 2 got an easy mode in the west, because why not?
Streets of Rage 3 was made harder for western players, because why not?
Devil May Cry was decidedly made harder by western Capcom HQ, because what the fuck?
There are dozens of these idiotic and unnessecary examples. Why are gamers proud of something like that?
Yeah old days gaming industry were insane
the storyline for these games turned to dogshit after the first game
Esp the third.
