If your home was burnt down in the wildfires or washed away in the hurricane rain, you should quickly head to the lumber store if you were planning to rebuild. Canada supplies 80% of the lumber in US homebuilding projects.

FACT , confirmed by me. As a carpenter years ago, it was ALL from Canada, not 80% it was 100% of what we used to build hundred of homes around Chicago. ALL Canadian.
We did get some US lumber once and it was all moldy and black throughout the whole bunk. thats literally the only US lumber. (the reason it was stinky and moldy was they must have left it in the rain, then wrapped it sealed to stew in the sun. Not the lumbers fault. But that all I ever remember. The bunks always said Canada.

Canadian here- Tariffs, like the 25% tariff on Canadian goods, are intended to protect domestic industries, but they ultimately hurt U.S. consumers the most. While Canada doesn’t directly pay the tariff, U.S. importers do-meaning higher costs for businesses, which get passed down to consumers in the form of increased prices on everyday goods.
This also hurts American businesses that rely on Canadian materials, making production more expensive and reducing competitiveness. In the long run, tariffs can lead to job losses, supply chain disruptions, and economic inefficiencies, all while straining trade relationships with us, one of the U.S.’s largest trading partners.
I know everyone I speak with here, in Canada, are boycotting everything and anything made by the USA. Instead of buying from Amazon, they are buying from China. This includes Walmart, McDonalds, and Services. Way to make China even more powerful, U.S.A. This is a lose-lose situation for both of our North American democracies. 🇨🇦🇨🇦💔🇺🇸🇺🇸

You forgot to mention the American jobs that depend on imports from Canada, too, in manufacturing, transportatìon, energy, pulp and paper, food processing and retailing, agriculture, warehousing, etc. And Canadian tourism, especially during winter, is extremely important to Sun Belt states. It's worth about $1 billion per year to Florida alone. Increasing unemployment in Canada will cost hospitality industry jobs in the South. We've had free trade for forty years that has benefited the people of both countries. Trump is shooting himself in the foot on this, and it will likely cost him his congressional majority in two years, but American workers and small business will pay the real price.

Let's see Trump then work to "take over Canada".

Trump's plan on tariffs will cost the US consumers huge price increases in gas and electricity (New York gets a lot of power from Canada). Canada is considering shutting down export of crude oil and power in retaliation probably short term. How does Trump think this is a win-win to Americans who rely on imports for business when it clearly is not and will cost the US companies who import the most as they pay the tariffs.
