In case you misunderstood it's depicting Scott's expedition to the South Pole. There is some truth to the sketch btw. The Norwegians ate the weakest of their sled dogs as the trip went on(which was according to plan) , which the English found repulsive.
Thanks guys. I think you’ve misunderstood the context here. It’s not about camping, it’s about Scott’s tragic trip to the Antarctic where all the explorers died and I see it as a comment on the infamous British “stiff upper lip”
According to Scott's diary entry, Oates had walked out of the tent the previous day into a −40 °F (−40 °C) blizzard to his death. Scott wrote in his diary: "We knew that poor Oates was walking to his death, but though we tried to dissuade him, we knew it was the act of a brave man and an English gentleman. As Oates left the tent he said, "I am just going outside and may be some time."
FYI: It's not a camping sketch. It's a polar expedition sketch, namely Scott of The Antarctic's ill-fated 1912 Terra Nova expedition. The diss at the Norwegians was a reference to the Norwegian South Pole expedition of Roald Amundsen who took sled dogs to the South Pole and also ate them.
An enjoyable reaction, even though you mistook parody of an apparent tragic expedition, for an extended camping trip. You two are always a joy to watch! ❤
There was an excellent 1948 film called Scott of the Antarctic with John Mills playing Scott which of course has a somewhat sad and depressing ending but then as it is a true story that is how life can be sometimes.
That was like Scotland 4 Months of the Year. We have a Veg Garden in our Cellars and Grow Fruit in our Hot Houses in the Attic. There is a slight chance I made that up.
A hotel with a restaurant with a seasonally-appropriate menu in the restaurant is a rather more comfortable way to maintain standards. (Rather less likely to suffer the same fate as Captain Scott.)
I know you guys probably wont, But... With your recent "Coming out" as christens (On youtube), There are two Mitchell and web sketches that I'd love to see your reaction to, And I believe will be popular are, - That Mitchell and Webb Look - Abraham - That Mitchell and Webb Look - good Samaritan. Like I said I doubt you will, But would be great. Side note, (You'd also be the first... Can't find any reaction video to them)
Some other people might have to help me out. What’s the name of the bloke who doesn’t want to buy alcohol from the shop? It’s another Mitchell and Webb sketch. Kenneth or something?

I like Rimmer's take on it in Red Dwarf, I think in the episode Marooned :)

It's a short one, but I love their sketch "Bronze Orientation Day."
(the) Great Scott!
Cheers guys!
SOUTH POLE EXPEDITION LOL NOT CAMPING 😅. Over 100 years ago😊
That dirty soda drink sounds really nice😊
It's supposed to be Scott of the Antarctic.
There was an excellent 1948 film called Scott of the Antarctic with John Mills playing Scott which of course has a somewhat sad and depressing ending but then as it is a true story that is how life can be sometimes.
Robert Falcon Scott’s South Pole Expedition all perished in 1913.
The Norwegians is a reference to Admunsun who was in a race with the Brit Scott to reach the South Pole first. The Norwegians won.

Only a slight embellishment - our hot houses are in the cellar because the polar bears can't dig through frozen earth...
My idea of camping is a hotel room and ignoring room service. ❤😊

Maybe it was too obvious, but I always thought it should have ended by revealing his character had been eating too

Are you talking about the sketch where he DOES want to buy alcohol from the corner shop? If so it's Hugh.
