- This Alpine Lake hike was Truly Unparalleled in Beauty & Distinctiveness, I believe I visited the area on a very Special Day! From the Start it was Astonishing, beginning in the Enormous Frosty and Snow Blanketed World Renowned Glenwood Springs Colorado, and from there up a Steep Slippery side canyon trail to Hanging Lake, 7,373 ft. elevation, 1.2 Miles and a 1,000 foot Vertical Gain. Micro Spikes and Trekking Poles are HIGHLY ADVISED. The Bright Turquoise Lake was Crowned in Striking Ice Waterfalls and that was just the beginning! Behind the lake, 200 Yards up the Spouting Rock Trail, was an even more Amazing Ice Volcano Formation under another Magical yet Potentially Deadly Garden of Enormous Hanging Icicles Precariously Clinging to the Overhanging wall above! Blasting through a hole in the wall was a Beautiful Water Spout creating a Dazzling Waterfall Shimmering in the Sun as well as a Magical Garden of Ice formations below! Sounds over hyped I know but. . . seeing is Believing. Be Aware, this trail was Icy, steep and along a hand railed cliff! There were several reports of Falling Icicles right above the trailnear Spouting Rock so the danger of being Injured or Killed is very real in Thawing condition. With proper Caution and Awareness the area can be Explored but, I found myself so captivated it was easy to wander into harms way. . . Under the Spout was VERY ICY and Super Slick on unforgiving Terrain as well! Enjoy with Caution!!!
PERMITS ARE REQUIRED $10 Winter, $12 Summer. Parking is difficult but there is a shuttle during summer months.

Lynn, my wife is very competitive as well as skilled, so she more than holds her own! If you haven't, chech out the Rock Climbing the Matron Flatiron With my Wife video! She spends a lot of time in climbing gyms. Thanks again for your support !!
@@KarlDeckerPresents We’ll it out. You should Dana Hollister’s videos. They live here in Montrose and he and his wife Cindy are avid climbers. Also are very knowledgeable on Utah, particularly Cedar Mesa.

One of the CO hikes I never had time to do. Thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure my friend!
Sweet! Winter in CO definitely brings a natural beauty to this hike. Nice nod to the CCC. My father served in 1935-36. And wifey did great on the icy trail! Well done, thanks for the ride…
Well I truly feel like we lucked out with the conditions and the incredible images we were able to bring home. A very special time and place!! Thanks for your comments and support 🙏
I think my favorite part was you guys holding hands at the end:) The slow motion spouting rock shot was pretty sweet too. As always Karl, nicely done!
Mine too😘, thanks again buddy!!
Another home run Karl, absolutely stunning scenic paradise!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Very pleased with the comments and thanks brother for all your support 😉!!
Thanks, very informative.
You're welcome!
Just recently moved to Denver from Indianapolis. Love all the content from this channel. Im extremely afraid of heights but that's not stopping me from facing my fears head on in one of America's most beautiful regions. Thank you for all the hiking ideas first off. Also two important questions for us newbies on the mountain. 1.) Can you make a video with all the trails you think would be great 14ners for you & your dog. & 2.) Is there any groups or pages to easily find like minded people to go on more secluded dangerous hikes? Also can you take your dog on a permit trail? You rock & thanks!
Hello! Look my friend please gain skills and confidence by starting lower and building!! I'm not a dog-hike expert but something like a Huron Peak might be a good trail to bring a capable dog along. And always do too much research and planning prior to any big adventure!! Best, Karl!
If you're looking for dog-friendly 14er content, you should check out the Virtual Sherpa as well. Mickey has a video for every 14er and always gives dog advice.
In what month was this?
