Brilliant. The music is endlessly repetitive yet almost apocalyptic and mournful, and it perfectly represents the film. The 7 hours serve to cement the fact that nothing will ever change for the villagers and things will only get worse. And yet there’s this detached serenity as if we’re seeing it play out from the eyes of an apathetic god who views human misery as an amusing dance of failure. While in Werckmeister Harmonies, much more focus is put on the characters and therefore the music is more emotional and less stripped down instrumentally. Tarr is a genius and his films are masterpieces, if depressing ones. In fact, Satantango probably is the greatest film ever made
@@HEROImundial My favorite films are: Grapes of wrath, Godfather, La Haine, There will be blood. I have seen at least 3000 films in my life... and I can honestly say Satantango was sh*t. This 8 hour long so-called film had no story at all. Whoever say this film is a masterpiece is a pseudo-intellectual! Only thing I loved about this film is muddy road scene and background music.
Nice hyperbole, but I can't agree. Sátántangó is entirely ironic, and at times incredibly funny. The drunken dancing scene, for example. And, of course, the cat killing scene. Hilarious.
@@EnoVarma I cant agree. Clearly the irony belongs to movie, as in life itself, but if u cant feel there the espression of human condition, maybe u missing something. There are more poignant scenes. The drunken dance scene is funny but showing also the pleasure of despair. Last one, the end.
In the east, sky is clearing as fast as a memory. At dawn it leans all reds on the shimmering horizon, like the morning beggar trudges up the back steps to the church, the sun rises to give birth to shade so that earth and sky, man and animal emerge from the disturbing and confused unity in which they became inextricably inter wined. He saw fleeing night on the other side its terrfying elements in turn diving on the western horizon like a desparate, defeated confused army.
Sometimes I fear that I only like this film because I want to be hipster (probably there's some truth in it). But revisiting this scene, enjoying it's moodiness makes me feel my love for it might be a little genuine.
Salim Ibrahim The movie got 100% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, and thry can be very brutal with their rating. So shut your dumbass up and fuck off. You don't know shit about what you're talking about, brainless loser.
I'm feeling so terribly temptated to see this masterpiece again, please holidays come early

Thing about Tarr is he makes Bresson seem positively cheery. See Mouchetter and Au Hasard Balthazar for comparison.

Il suono della fisarmonica è struggente .
Bella TARR ın harikaların da biri. eşsiz bir film
This music sounds like something out of an early 90's point and click adventure game
Hi! anyone knows the title of this music?
I Know only the composer, Víg Mihály.
Rain II
Huh? That's good to know. Thanks!

Does anyone else see the "blue skies over golden wheat fields" flag in this scene, or is it only me?
More like white skies over black fields but i got your point 😉
無與倫比,大師之作
Marc WS probably just a piano accordeon. ..
Does this music come when they are walking on the road?
Or
Is it just my obsession with this film?
Does anyone know what instrument is being played in the song?
Or an accordeon combined with a synth
