I just stayed in Ajijic while seeking locations to live in when we semi-retire and wow, I was surprised at how much I fell in love with it. Words can't describe a beautiful and relaxing it is there. Initially we planned our first few months would be in Guadalajara when we move, but now I'm not so sure I can shake off the spell of Ajijic. My biggest concern is we don't want to move to an area to be surrounded by gringos, but the language classes make me think maybe it's not a bad idea the for first 6 month to a year.
Anyone can join the American Legion? I will be staying in Chapala for a month. WFPB and a little disappointed that Chapala doesn't have more vegan options... but I learned to fix my own meals when I changed my diet because the small town I live in has almost NO options unless you count a pile of lettuce and a sprinkle of tomato. I see you have moved on to PV and will be exploring the rest of MX. Looking forward to watching more of you adventures.
Yes! Isn’t that great? The American Legion was a lucky find for us and their guacamole was really yummy. Some days we just went by and brought some home for our bean tacos. They don’t serve it until after 3:00 during happy hour. And, yes… we used the local market a lot! Fresh tortillas and beans was the key!
Yay vegans! Yes there is a bus between Chapala and Ajijic. We did a video on it called Walk? Or Ride? It’s only 8-10 pesos one way depending on if you get the smaller bus or the medium bus. Very easy to navigate between the two places. Gracias for watching! Glad you liked the video
We spent 5 winters in Ajijic before Covid and just loved it. We also liked San Antonio and Riberas, which tend to be a little little less expensive than Ajijic. We love the artistic features of the area, with Lakeside Little Theatre and Bravo Theatre, the music festival, the writer’s conference and the Art Show. And the Chili cook Off! Can’t wait to return in February !
Great analysis of those two towns. I completely agree. We had plenty of opportunity to exercise our Spanish. It seems like the restaurants have upped there game since we went. Looking forward to going back.
Wow, I have never seen any other couple being so relaxed. Did Mexico do this to you or did you come from good coming from the US ? To speak of coming from good I mean having a good life in the US even though a person or people choose to move to Mexico. Ok, good for you guys, maybe I bump in to you here someday if you sit around with those other Americans drinking coffee and doing that small talk about life there at Black/White. I understand that some do show of over there but that goes everywhere around the mundo so nothing new. Bless your soul live and enjoy life in Mexico if it is possible for you to that.
We’re retired and still healthy so loving our nomad life in Mexico. It helps us relax also being able to speak the language. It was fun drinking coffee with the expats at the coffee shops but we also liked interacting with others. Thanks for watching our channel. Buen día!
Chapala has a lot of families but not so many in the heart of Ajijic. It’s really full of retired expats. There’s a younger crowd, they say…Maddie Gold RUclips is there now checking it out.
Thank you for the video. It was very informative.
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you found it helpful
I enjoyed the way that you chose Ajicjic, you have to put what you need/want ahead of other things, and you did!
Thanks for watching. Yes, it’s only our experience that we can share.
I have just subscribed to your channel. Will be there in February
Thanks for subscribing! I would love to hear what you think of Ajijic and Chapala
@@lwalkerphd I was there last year. I loved Ajijic. Lots of entertainment in the square. However Chapala is more walkable.

It is a magical place. And the language classes are fun. Guadalajara is so big. We much preferred Ajijic.

So appreciate your video! Am considering moving there. Am plant-based and vegan, so happy to see what find. is there a bus between Ajijic and Chapala?

It’s a wonderful place! So glad you’re able to return in February. Enjoy!
Thank you for making the video. My partner and I plan on spending the summer in Mexico. Finding a place where there is Pickleball is important to us.
There is pickle ball near the plaza at Mel’s Social Club in Ajijic.
Great to know that. I also play pickle ball. My husband plays tennis.

Thanks for watching! Are you back in SoCal yet?

Hi are these areas mostly retirement or have you observed families with children?
