    Hey all,
This a reference to 58:52 in the video.
Here are some of my favorite vegan RUclipsrs / Instagram vegan accounts that I follow and some recipes.
The Vegan Zombie - Chris is my jam. He has vegan for nearly 3 decades and his channel has been around a LONG time and the recipes and general vegan knowledge I learned from him is limitless. He makes an amazing lasagna that I make for holidays. It's incredible. If I could follow only one account and one person only, it would be The Vegan Zombie / Chris. Dude is seriously the best.
Wicked Kitchen - Derek and Chad are chef's and they make some of my go to recipes. Chickpea grilled cheese, basil pesto, tofu recipes, etc. They have so many great recipes, it's unreal. They also sell products in grocery stores. They are based in the UK, but just started adding products outside of the UK in grocery stores!
Mina Rome - If you are on a budget, she is a great go to for a high school / college student. She has a lot of snacks and simple recipes. Check out her Super Lazy Vegan Snacks video.
Brian Turner - He is a badass bodybuilding all around great guy. His channel is focused on more high protein vegan meals for those vegans into working out. Been following his channel for years.
Nimai Delgado - Another bodybuilder. He has a great podcast and has a lot of great recipes. Similar to Brians channel.
Plantyou - Carleigh has amazing easy vegan recipes. I make her tofu crumbles and put it over pasta. Really good stuff. I follow her on Instagram. She updates it all the time, and is really active in answering questions.
Rich Roll - He is an ultra marathon runner who didn't go vegan until he was in his 40's. His podcast is incredible and it's all about being a better person and it's a good pick me up.
Rainbow Plant Life - Nisha is the reason I wanted an Instant Pot. Her recipes are incredible. A lot of them utilizing the instant pot. She comes from an Indian background, and has really creamy, rich tasty soups, curries, and so much more. If you like mushrooms, she has a ridiculous Mushroom Stroganoff recipe you have to try.
Pick Up Limes - Sadia rules. Her recipes are a bit more detailed and tough to make, but they are great if you have the time.
For straight up recipes check out Cookies and Kate. Her website is mainly vegetarian, but it's super easy to make everything vegan. She has a chili I make that is awesome. She also has a lentil soup I make regularly.
Google: Tasty - Slow Cooker Coconut Curry. A fav of mine.
Google: Vegan BBQ Tofu. I make that A LOT. There are so many versions you can make, that it would be a disservice to just name one recipe.
Google: Minimalist Baker - Vegan Parmesan Cheese. I make this all the time. It's seriously amazing.
Learn how to: make rice and prepare tofu! You will be doing that a lot. Squeezing water out of tofu is a necessary evil.
I could go on forever with recipes and channels. Veganism is a never ending journey. Always learning and always finding new ways to live the life style. I'd love to answer your questions! Don't hesitate to ask.
    - Matt

    About the houseplants❕
I’m going to give some definitive care tips that I learned over the past year:
    - First, succulents are bad. They require super specific needs (full, blazing sun CONSTANTLY) and don’t do well in almost all home environments, so don’t blame yourself if succulents die. They are not friendly at all
    - Secondly, plants do not want to be messed with! A lot of people end up killing plants because they care for them too much, which usually ends up with overwatering or too much shock for the plant. I would recommend misting plants since it’s something you can do for them everyday, but doesn’t really do anything bad so it feels like you’re helping lol
    - Do not water on a schedule, rather learn when your plants gives signs it needs water. Usually this is drooping, softer/weaker, and curling leaves. Bottom watering is also great, just fill a small bowl the pot will fit in with water and wait until the soil at the top of the pot is moist. This usually takes 20-30 minutes
    - Getting a certain type of soil isn’t a huge deal, a plant will adapt to their soil overtime. I would recommend a general houseplant soil or one that’s a little chunkier with bark mixed in (not gardening soil). About the pots, most plants like to be more cramped and can stay that way for years. Smaller-medium plants could be in a 4 inch pot (with drainage holes!), and larger plants that would sit on a shelf could be in a 6 inch pot comfortably for a long time.
    - Finally, some great beginning plants I would recommend are smaller pothos (golden pothos, marble queen) or a young monstera deliciosa. These plants are hardy and also give you good signs of when they need water, which will help you get used to watering only when they need it. A monstera is also super rewarding and fun to watch it grow too, especially as the leaves get fenestrations!

      @kellipyle1303 3 года назад +1

Succulents aren’t hard to take care of, as long as they’re by a window where the sun usually hits and you don’t over water it’s not hard at all to keep them alive. They are a good beginner plant. It’s important to have the right soil though.

    • @kellipyle1303
      @kellipyle1303 3 года назад +1

Also the soil does matter as it will help and affect it immensely. Getting the right soil for the type of plant is important. The soil it comes in though needs to be mixed in with new soil. They say do half and half

Speaking of taking locations for granted, as someone that moved from the northeast. I find myself really missing the seasons there. Like the "authentic" Autumn and winters, the things people come from all over the country to take pictures of and experience. I mean I also miss Revolutionary war statues and plaques being everywhere. So it might just be nostalgia for from living there almost my entire life. lol

hi amamnda! this is my first time commenting but I love your videos so much! I am a plant fiend and I love them so much! the best thing to do when you first get them is get them out of their nursey pot 2-5 days after letting them acclimate to their new environment, make sure you're using the proper potting soil as well! and after that, leave them alone! see how their leaves are doing, do they need more light more water? try something new and see how they do! i think you might be doing to much because you care for such fragile animals. love u lots and hope youre day is great!

Hey bestie, I got into plants over quarantine too. Many were tragically guinea pigs, but lessons learned. Try bottom watering once a week (fill bucket/bowl, place plant, and then let sit for a like 4 minutes, take out). They get the water they need instead of over watering. Also, indirect sunlight is chef’s kiss for most plants. ❤️

My greatest talent is keeping plants alive, I don’t fully know how I do it, but here’s what I do that could help; specifically with succulents because everyone says they’re easy, and they are, but only under the right conditions!
First, make sure the pots you’re using have drainage holes and use a fast draining succulent potting mix
I recommend keeping them by a windowsill, especially if you live in a colder place most importantly in the winter. They love the sun, you can even watch them grow towards it!
Speaking of them growing towards the sun when you see them leaning that way I recommend turning the plant away from it so it can grow back in that direction, it forces them to keep growing and it’s so cool to see!
I also use a mister to water some of them, underwater some, and give some ice cubes, make sure to google watering instructions for the type of plant you have!
Over watering is a problem because it can give them root rot and cause them to die, I check their soil every day and once it gets to a point where it seems dried out, I leave it for 2-3 days and then water again, try to water the whole top area of soil so it can make it’s way to all of the roots rather than just one area, if you see water coming from the drain holes it’s too much, I would definitely suggest a sprinkler attachment on a watering can, a spray bottle, or a mister to make sure it’s just enough!
My starter plant recommendation will ALWAYS be a jade plant, they are probably the easiest plant to take care of and they can bounce back insanely well, and in those winter months where most plants struggle, jade’s actually need way less attention and watering, they tell you what they need too! Downturned leaves? Water it less. Wrinkled leaves? Water it more. You can google pretty much any odd behavior of your jade plant and it’s an easy fix! They bounce back Really well! They also don’t mind staying in the same pots for long periods of time, jade plants are interesting because they grow really fast and will stop at the perfect size for their pots, my grandmother had a jade the size of a tree, and some people keep them in small pots on a window for ages, and the jade will continue to live just fine either way! I cannot recommend these plants more, and any other succulents you can give proper care!

I'm over in Eastern WA and Silverwood Theme park is about 45min -1hr drive away and during October they turn it into Scarywood. It's so much fun! They turn the attractions into scary themes, haunted house, complete darkroom, clowns with chainsaws, creepy dolls. The train ride they have that usually is just a scenic ride of the park, was turned into a zombie apocolypse event with the passengers being survivors getting escorted to a safe place. There were actors playing mercenaries and throughout the ride were pitstops where scenes would playout with zombies. It was freaking awesome!

I also have a lot of problems with succulents lol! I agree, they aren't as resilient as people make it seem. My advice is, don't let the failures discourage you! Once I decided that I want to have plants I just kept on buying them/ getting them from friends when they were repotting their plants and had enough to split, and learn what are the ones that fit for me. You know if you only have one or two plants, they might both die, but when you have 8-10, there is no way there won't be any that survive :D what I had the most success so far are dracaena, spider plants (but make sure to put them where your cats can't reach them, cause they go crazy for these, at least mine does) and snake plant. They can go 2-3 days without watering, and can thrive with relatively little sunlight, in fact they prefer half shadow. Good luck! 🌱✨

I hardcore feel ya on the plants. Venus fly traps and carnivorous plants in particular. If it makes you feel any better they are really sensitive and hard to keep alive, and most store bought ones are pretty sick when you get them so they're really hard to keep alive. But I love them too. They're the closest I've had to pets outside of family cats and a poor hermit crab I was 7.and ill equipped to take proper care of. All my venus fly traps die no matter
what I do for them especially since it's cold where I live. So all my plants now are fake... I do well with my beloved cats, but plants don't make noise and it's difficult to figure out what they need unlike animals.

To catch a barreleye, go to the sea with a bunch of fish bait after 9pm and focus on catching small shadow fish. Don't bother catching anything bigger than horse mackerel sized fish. You will probably catch a bunch of horse mackerel, but eventually you'll get the barreleye. I've also heard that you can try fishing on mystery islands too for better luck. I think Mountain, Tree, and Bamboo islands are good since fish only spawn in the sea there.

Amanda! If you ever have the chance to pass by the Kansas city area in October, PLEASE come to the haunted houses in the west Bottoms!!! The macabre cinema is classic horror movie themes and we would love to have you!

I literally JUST re-watched Lake Mungo and forgot how scary it was. It's SO haunting. Your horror movie list is all bangers-- you might like Killer Klowns from Outer Space if you like the sillier stuff! Also, there's been a lot of research about why people like things that are scary (this also applies to things that are disgusting, repulsive, morbid, taboo, etc) and it really is totally normal. Our brains like to explore scenarios that we'd never want to experience in real life specifically because it knows we're actually safe. By consuming it in fiction (or a setting like a haunted house!), there's a big catharsis factor. So it's totally okay to enjoy this stuff and think it's fun! :)

Barreleyes were really hard for me to catch too, I've only ever gotten one and gave it to Blathers straight away. It sucks because they share the same shadow as the horse mackerel, so you'll be fishing up a lot of those alongside searching for the Barreleye.

I can’t keep succulents alive but I found this one plant called fittonia albivenis or “nerve plant”. It’s pretty easy and likes a moist environment but not soggy, and when it’s upset it gets very dramatic. Like mine dried up on a hot day and wilted and looked like it was dead, poured water on it and gave it a few hours and it perked right up. It’s also nontoxic to pets like cats and dogs. It also doesn’t like direct sunlight and prefers low to medium light or filtered sunlight, like through a sheer curtain. So far it’s been the only plant I’ve managed to keep alive and all I do is check if the soil is moist and water it down when needed and sometimes it’s dramatic and let’s me know when it wants more water.

Being in the front of a group during a haunted house attraction is absolutely the least scariest position to be in. The workers like sneaking up from behind so the people in the back are suffering the most!

My favorite psych horror movie is Jacobs Ladder. It is intensely unpleasant and kinda burns a bit slow at first before ramping up really hard. Elements of it inspired Silent Hill (my fav game series of all time) and has some unique effects.

If yall are lookin for good horror watches for this spooky season, I would absolutely recommend Midnight Mass on Netflix. It's a miniseries by Mike Flanagan, who directed Hill House and Bly Manor, so if you liked those miniseries you'll like this! Not necessarily jumpscare-y but more psychological horror (definitely a lot of gore though)

Amanda a good starting plant is a Spider plant, and if you have friends they give off a lot of babies. Or if you don’t have friends your house slowly becomes full of spider plants.

Honestly, I just accidentally got the barreleye when I was fishing. I have actually gotten a lot of them and the football fish and oarfish. It's every other rare fish that I've either only caught once or am still struggling haha
Edit: So haunted house story time. So I live in North Carolina and we have this thing called Woods of Terror. Well in 8th grade, some of the choir students got to perform there and so we got in free and got to go ahead of all the crowds through the place. My group actually ended up going first. I was like third in the line with one of my friends in front and their dad leading and then my other friend behind me. It was really fun overall, not really scary since stuff where I know it's fake seems to not scare me most of the time. It's rare to find some fictional media (like a game or movie) that genuinely scares me. But it was really fun. It's the only time I've ever been since last time my friends and I planned to go there ended up being a shooting in the parking lot (some kind of issue between people, the one shot was okay and not seriously injured) so we ended up not going. But I've always wanted to go back to that place or something like it some day. They're always so much fun.
Edit Again: I just wanna say, it is possible to underwater succulents as well! My friend gave me some succulent babies from her succulent plant and I was so terrified of overwatering them that I actually ended up underwatering my darling. And all the guides would talk about more adult succulents rather than baby ones that still needed to take root. So for a while, my succulent was really limp and weak because I didn't give her enough water. Eventually I figured out a way to water her and the perfect place to not get too much sunlight but still get enough as well as avoiding humidity since my dad likes to open the window while he works in the morning. Now my little baby girl succulent is healthy and growing strong, she even has a little second vine growing in with its own leaves, we call him Junior for now. So I don't know about what could have gone wrong (I can find research very confusing so I was making myself sick trying to figure stuff out and I already have medical anxiety for myself so it was just as bad for my succulent), but it could be possible you were perhaps underwatering it. Not entirely sure, I'm just saying that because I was overly cautious of overwatering and it ended up causing my little baby girl to not get enough water. I had never owned any kind of plant before so I was terrified when I got this little baby girl and my friend said to me "let's see who has a green thumb now, try not to kill them" and that just threw my anxiety into overdrive. So hey, maybe it could have been something else, but just from personal experience, it could possibly be that. Tho no worries, plants can be so difficult to take care of, even succulents.

my fave local spooky stuff: in vancouver BC...the stanley park ghost train!!!
it's not super scary but it probably would be for kids, it's so creative and wild, it's just this little train that goes around an area of the park & tells about the area/wildlife regularly. & at halloween they do a theme and deck it out, actors play parts, they make giant costumes, set pieces, it's really intense. one year it was ALIENS. another, it was like a train ride through hell lol. idk it sounds hokey, i knooowww, but it's so fun!
it has been cancelled two years running now and i HATE it (last year, bc of the panny, this year UNfortunately allegedly cancelled bc of some bs with idiots in the park being upset that coyotes live in nature, super upsetting news story there)
