The original and still the best desert rock band.
High desert valley....get it right!!!

Isn't the original band Yawning Man? I heard that all the desert rock bands were influenced by them.

A huge thank you to Tool for covering this and introducing me to Kyuss.
Do you like it
@@YohananYGO
No, but your mom does.
Same here!
Noticed the beginning bass and guitar intro, kind of sounds like the riff from vicarious and shit the vocalist almost kinda looks like Adam Jones.
The most underrated yet massively influential (to this day even) bands of the NINETIES & early 2000's. Kyuss was a perfect combination of musical interests between those 4 kats. Kyuss disappeared as fast as they arrived and could possibly steamroll right on through that unforgiving desert. Their influence however has and will continue to, spread far and wide across many dimensions & MultiVerses, through space & time🔥☠️🔥
Good speech bro, kyuss was my 90’s escapism
I think they definitely influenced Peach (later called Sons of a Tundra) and Tool’s “You Lied” was a cover which was originally written by Peach
@@MrZZsharka thank you for that reference because that song was fucking sick
Saw them only once in the Summer 95 , In Belgium's best alternative festival . We also had Monster Magnet ( in phenomenal shape + album ) and the Pumpkins / Porno Fr Pyros . Amazing afternoon with a little bit of ecstasy to boost it all 👌
This song reminds me of mopping floors at the pizza place I used to work at. We weren't allowed to start blasting the good music until the last customers had left for the night.
I found a way to blast Kyuss/Pantera/Static-X over the (large pizza chain) store sound system - aux cable. Made work bearable.
Pizza restaurant in Dublin, had some great tunes for the unsuspecting customers...oantera,kyuss,etc.
feel that
Best song ever written about brushing teeth. I love to play this on guitar.
falloutMAN84 just learned it today, kinda
falloutMAN84 I play it every day in the morning and evening and I floss afterwards it's really improved my dental hygiene
The song isn't about brushing teeth: it's about Kyuss. Kyuss is a fictional deity that possessed the band.

@@bebopbountyhead they got the name kyuss from dungeons and dragons. The lore ain't that deep bud, they said it themselves, if you knew the true meaning of it all you'd be awfully disappointed.
I’ve been a massive fan of Kyuss for about 20 years, yet have never seen this video before….and I think it may be one of my favourite music videos of all time
I've been a Kyuss fan since 1992 and I never have either, but it sure is weird as fuck.
Yeah same, ive never seen this 👀👀

Ignoring the world's problems I suppose
Same here, listen to Kyuss since 1995.
How do i make it through 43 years of life and am only now checking out this band? I missed out, but now have "new to me" music to listen to!
I’m 53. In the early 90’s I go hours to see them. Little. Clubs. They opened for WEEN. AMAZING. saw them in Vegas and San Fran
Went on their bus with their manager. They were setting white bread and bologna and American cheese. Dirt broke
Bro,what are ya a deaf Quaker or something. Better late than never.

1995: ...and the

ha guess it's now 45? too bad you didn't see them live.
You know how I found them back in the day? TOOL covered Demon Cleaner in a tour and naturally gave them the credit they deserved for it but it was fresh to my ears when I heard it and just looked up Kyuss afterwards.
When Tool covers your song, you're doing something right
Strongly agree. Tool as good as they are, are also a bit pretentious, albeit a very original band. For them to consider doing a cover, let alone actually doing one, is a big sign of respect and worth, from someone real, which tool are. A proud band showing a sign of respect is something. Kudos to both bands.
Jillimy Jilikers not always, or not necessarely. I mean, they covered stranglehold, but probably not because of their respect for ted nugent I suppose. But yeah, they probably dig Kyuss
They dig Kyuss and were poking at Ted.
@90's Gamer! are you high, what kinda pills you taking? Tool running outta ideas and having no originality lmfao bwahahaha! Just cause a band decides to do a cover or two no matter the reason doesn't mean they've run outta new ideas...esp TooL...theeee most original band ever.
king leonidasberg the spartan heeb tool has made a career out of playing the same riff different ways for over 20 years. That’s the only originality to em really.
Kyuss are better than Queens of the Stone Age.
Hell yeah!!!
Definetely yes. I remember there was a hype with the queens round 2004, it felt to me that i was being force fed with the queens..i guess it wSnt the 1st time- never actually liked them much..The whole stoner rock thing had already tired me. My personal favs of the genre are mostly doom (still whatever band might be labeled like that) and not stoner. Since having been a sabbath nerd aready by the age of 12, i consequently got into doom. My fav bands are:
1) Saint Vitus & sleep
2) Cathedral (first 3 EPs and 3 LPs) & candlemass (first 3 LPs)
3) pentagram (early stuff, with a few more recent releases)
Should mention a few others like trouble & electric wizard.
I didnt get deeper to the scene of doom nor stoner, maybe i was getting tired of the sound, maybe all the rest of the bands sounded the same both in tone & riffs, like orange goblin, spiritualbeggars, acid king etc..
Sure i might have missed a couple of bands till this day ever since i stopped listening to new bands, that play in such a way that brings life to the genre.
Glad for any recommendations.
Hugs in doom from greece
My problem is that the bands started to sound the same to me like generic hard rock.. Probably my fav QOTSA is Rated R because it is psychedelia in places. I can listen to Sleep too!@@Itsyrm8
Most people I met who were QOTSA fans that hadn't heard Kyuss didn't care for Kyuss much when I introduced the band to them. QOTSA are decent but not as good
@@youisiaint queens along with foo fighters are very generic rock.

eh
FYI (Incase you don't know). Kyuss was the beginning of Queens of the Stone age.
Gotta give them more credit than that bro
@jeconi5250 Sure, so how about the fact that Kyuss produced way better music than Queens of the Stone Age. I love Kyuss and don't really care for QOTSA!
There, does that make you feel better?
Sssshhhhhhh wtf is wrong with you... just give em the launch codes while you're at it!!
I agree with your first comment
The scenes in this video accurately depict how I spend my weekend.
Close your eyes. A generator party, Kyuss plays this song , beer, weed and a girl... the people needs this...

I used to listen to this back in 1996. During the summer, when the nights were really hot.
What a band, what a song.
tool does a cover version of this song u should check it out bloody good it is 2 👍🤘
I have had the privilege of seeing Kyuss live as I'm sure most of you have too and in that we all have one of the greatest shared experiences in music. They were in London and were perfection, although Josh managed to blow his amp during Gardenia. Luckily they had a spare and the magic continued. I met John Garcia after the gig and he was a friendly, down to earth humble man who was genuinely happy to have met his fans. A great day.
Best stoner rock band of all time.
Well, they invented the genre.
@@hinjurock70
You need to give Black Sabbath's Master of Reality (1971) a listen.
@@byrondean
Dude, Sabbath are my favorite metal band - I've listened to all of their classic albums countless times. They inspired stoner metal, but they didn't invent it - that term was about 20 years away from existing when Sabbath's first album of bluesy heavy rock with a dark edge was released.
Sabbath are better, Sleep are pretty dam good, and Electric Wizard had their moments, too.
Monster Magnet is better.
As for originators of stoner rock that goes back to Sir Lord Baltimore, Captain Beyond and Hawkwind.
I've never smoked weed before in my life, but this song makes me wanna' light one up and space out listening to Kyuss.
It's one of those tracks that you don't need weed to enjoy. Just pure volume 👌🤘
Do it 😊

I see David lynch vibes written all over this
Indeed! 🤗
When I die, I have asked my son to be the song of my farewell ... greatings from Chile!
i'm so glad that music like this exists
After packing away the weights and bench I sit,in my yard, smoke a full bowl and listen to this while looking at the night sky. Nice.
sounds amazing!!
So damn hypnotic. Just like the lyrics of most of their songs, the music video can be interpreted in any way too. I like that about Kyuss, never straight forward. Always in every direction possible. Also love that they smile near the end.
One of the most unique voices, doesn't seem like it would work but it does, just enough
I first saw this when I was 13 and thought these guys were completely evil. Then I grew up and figured out how to better interpret music lyrics meanings. Videos still pretty wicked but in a good way. Now everybody go watch The Widow by The Mars Volta, kinda has the same vibe
Whenever I listen to this song I visualize mitch hedberg on every instrument
Not bad
haha nice
Long time favourite.
The louder the better.
When this song comes on the pedal hits the floor!
this band is allready a legend!!!
Dude on bed looks like me during my first week in detox at rehab. I don't even like thinking about it. However I would do it again. Over 2 years clean now. 100percent worth it.
Love this song but I hate how it fades out right when Josh is playing some of the coolest shit he’s ever done
How am I just now finding this band?????

Its alright man. Now just keep rocking it.

I freakn love the groove to this song, and that fuzzy guitar sound! Can't hear it enough..
One of the coolest songs i've ever heard.
Q: Is Kyuss the best band ever?
A: Yeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeahyeah
I love when the record labels share their artists with us all.Usually on YT I am cursing WMG and its imprints for blocking all the good stuff.I miss the time when you could find songs/bands like this on a whacked out compilation or mix album (like I did).Keep going strong Kyuss.
I think Josh call's it in an old interview Desert Rock. Kyuss what a Band!
The drumming is superb in this song. ❤❤❤
Thanks Ubisoft for discovering this great song in The Crew
Now I know exactly where Adam Jones gets his inspiration from for Tool videos 🤘🏼🤘🏼

One of the if not THE Greatest Band of all time!
One of the if not THE greatest exaggerations of all time! (They were good though.)
Back in '94 we called this grunge or alternative. Not stoner or desert.
I called it desert in the 90s
When I first heard it in '94 my term for it was neopsychedelic. That thick bass sound combined with Josh playing on the neck pickup with heavy distortion, and most of all . . . . that groove, it all reminded me of a type of sound I hadn't heard since Blue Cheer in 1968, pretty close to the apex of psychedelia. Since then the term neopsychedelic has been co-opted and nowadays it applies to many bands that barely deserve having that term applied to them, if at all.
The best moment is 00:00 to 04:46
Thanks. I really needed to know.
Sounds about right.....lol.
James Jamie LeBlanc u r a demon
I'm the kind of demon people wished would possess them.....lol
I was responding to antoine's comment just incase Daniel, but a appreciate the compliment none-the-less, And i hope you're a demon as well my brother in arms.....Matt is probably.....well....... kind of young......lol
Wish they hadn’t broken up early. They started in the 80s! Ahead of their time. Broke up in 1995 before Tool hit their prime. I think they would have received the recognition they deserved if they had broken up after that rather than before.
This sound never gets old 🔥
My parents loved this band so much that they named me after them XD Its cool when someone asks my name and i tell them and they ask. like the band?

the best band from the 90's.
I think Korn or Ratm was better
Angeldestruction not agree. We cant place goat band over another one.And stoner very similar to grunge. If not Nirvana almost all alt metal bands couldn't become famous. And RATM was awesome.Faith no More,Soundgarden,Helmet,Metallica,Panthera,Sepultura,Primus,Mr Bungle(very avant garde but still),Megadeth, first album of NIN,White Zombie,Emperor,Mastodon,Ministry,GNR,Cannibal Corpse,Napalm Death,Nile,Machine Head etc. They showed people what metal of early 90's was looking.Different and not for all audience but still great. And yeah stoner metal isn't fully metal. It's a mix of psychedelic rock, desert rock, alt metal. And now stoner become stoner rock
If not Killing Joke Nirvana would never be famous, same true for almost all of the bands from your list with some exceptions like Primus
Korn better than Kyuss?

This is one of the essential stoner songs.. if not THE essential..
One of the best songs of our lifetimes no labels or comparison required 👿
Fun fact: Alfredo’s in the video, but Brant’s on the recording. A little drummer overlap. Love them both!!!
Awesome song and Great video but suddenly I feel the need to brush my teeth now

I have no idea why I like this song so much. I am a suburban. Mortgage paid off. Looking to buy more property. But I must admit, if I could figure out why this resonates, I would give it all away :)
What a coincidence, just before i listened to this song i listened to Tool's Sober :)
Pure magic!
Videos were an art form back in the ice ages....
That’s true
I remember mid-90s when suddenly the cool thing was to have the video be an art student's short story that had nothing to do with the song. I kinda liked the way videos were before that, but the short story style was cool too (when done well).
I love how videos back in the days creeped me out as a kid and made no sense lol
I love how they had this trippy psychedelic video for this heavy mudic

Kyuss is an extremely underrated band?! I feel like they never got so much attention than the later QOSA
Don't know, they're on RUclips
It seems like the whole stoner/desert rock thing is very niche and never gets any promotion. And you never hear any of it at rock nights.
lol
Dude they aren't underated. It's just not a huge demographic for stoner rock. Guys toured with Metallica in Australia for Black album. Anyone who listens to stoner knows Kyuss.
Which is a shame because they’re way better than QOTSA.
