It was good to hear an update on your half marathon training too, had wondered if you had decided against it after having to take a longer than expected rest with being sick. Great job with keeping up strength training! 💪🏻 That really is a shame about the public beach access being stripped back even more than it already was, totally agree with you that the sand should be for everyone. Hopefully that rule gets repealed! Loved all the Gary in this one, sniffing your phone and the shots of him walking down the stairs were so cute 😄

That beginning scene with Gary had me crackin' up! Great job keeping up on your strength training! Woo hoo! That will be interesting to see the beach territories happening during summer time. Perhaps at this beach, the cars shouldn't be on there to give more room to the public.

It’s definitely Gary’s world and we’re just living in it. 😆 Luckily with Grayton so far, they have a good amount of land that’s open (including the spot for some people to park on)- it’s really the towns next to it that have all the private beach problems. (Seaside specifically!) So, that’s why we’re sticking to Grayton as much as possible. But, there was a recent meeting where they want to put paid beach chairs on the big chunk of land by the lake/beach parking so who knows how long that’ll last. 30a is definitely changing, but it sure doesn’t feel like it’s for the better. 🙁 We’ll see what happens when the busy season kicks in!
Enjoyed this video! Gary’s little tongue in the camera and seeing him frolic in the grass was adorable! That is so unfortunate about the beach access. My parents came with us for the first time last year, and they had that issue of trying to find a place. Once they got all of their stuff out and sat down, someone told them they had to go far away. They are seniors, and it was hard on them walking and frustrating for them to try to find a place. When we come this summer, we are going to try to get to the beach around 9a.m. Hope that helps! 🏝️😊🤞
Ugh - i'm so sorry that happened to you guys! I hate that. Between the lack of access for seniors (hardly any handicap accessible ramps) & beach space for everyone to enjoy- 30A really isn't doing any favors for themselves. It's really put a bad taste in our mouth - for sure! Even though we absolutely love the beauty here - these issues have really started to become a lot bigger than they probably realize. The beach should be open for everyone to enjoy- not just for the select few who can afford multi-million dollar beach front properties. -- Definitely getting to the beach earlier will make a huge difference! If you end up needing any recommendations on spots nearby I'm happy to share so you can guys can enjoy your trip and not be bothered by the beach police! :) Also, Gary says thank you for watching!! He's a mess100% of the time and we love him to pieces for it. HA!
@@JustMeChelseaB Thanks so much, Chelsea! We are actually staying near Destin this year. So, the closet beach to where we are staying is Miramar. It’s only about a 5 minute walk from our condo. Hope that beach isn’t too bad as far as the security making people leave. We are going in late May, so hopefully, that’ll help too! Also, tell Gary that he is very welcome! 😊🐶
Oh Miramar is a great spot! You’ll love it! We love going over that way. They have much larger beach access points too which makes all the difference. Also, Henderson Beach State Park has a great handicap walkway so it’s nice and flat for seniors and anyone else needing something sturdy to walk on. Gulf Place on 30A also has a great access for that too. 😊
Hi there! Love seeing the update! Love seeing 30A and the beautiful water. Sounds like it has gotten a little crazy with the public vs private beaches. Question - it’s been a year or so since we’ve been to the 30a area - I didn’t know you could park your car on the beach- when did that start?
It really is so beautiful here! 😊 But yes - the huge question mark over the beach access is definitely adding some gloominess over such a great area! We hope it irons itself out at some point, but only time will tell. With the parking on the beach, it’s only allowed in Grayton and you have to have a license to do it. I’m not 100% sure of all ofthe requirements but I believe you have to be a Walton County resident and pay $150 per year for it. They only give out so many spots too, so it’s not guaranteed. They’re quick to give out hefty tickets ($500) for people who don’t know and drive on it without the license. But if you can get it, it would be amazing to be able to do have beach days right off the back of your car!
