Strange.... when was this video taken? I travelled with same flight a few weeks ago and the plane was really ok, the crew was very professional and everything was working both in economy and business... I flew in business and, of course, it was better, but I also took a good look in other classes and everyone was happy. The only really underwhelming thing was Ita's own lounge, the "Piazza di Spagna"... and I too went to Plaza Premium, which was far better.
As an Italian, I'm disappointed in our national airline. The issue stems from years of poor business management, not just with ITA Airways but dating back to Alitalia. Many of the planes are simply rebranded, without any significant internal upgrades, and the crew is often older, unmotivated, and uninspired. This is partly due to Italy’s rigid labor contracts, which make it nearly impossible to dismiss employees. The combination of poor management, both past and present, and an unmotivated workforce has resulted in a subpar service experience. Having worked with Emirates for four years, I know that if we performed like ITA’s crew, we would have been fired immediately. The contrast is stark. Despite this, as an Italian living in Tokyo, I find ITA convenient due to its direct flights to Rome. Currently, they have no competition, but if ANA launches a direct flight to Italy in November, I will likely switch airlines, though with some regret, as ITA represents my home country.
yeah, I am really disappointed with ITA Airways :( I was expecting so much from them when their service started! Hope they improve over the next few years!
So we can go to the Sky Lounge when we arrive in Tokyo?
Only if you have a transit in Tokyo and access to the lounge with Priority pass or business class!
