NYC already tried pitching a tent for the homeless folks descending on them like a swarm of locusts. The offer was a dismal failure. Of course sticking the thing out on an island with no inside bathrooms or showers, no access to fresh water and food sources might have weighed in on those feelings as well. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how all those folks can possibly think that one city can feed, house, transport and educate their children, to say nothing of handing them a job when there’s a huge language barrier, probably no way to get SS cards and all the other stuff we’re forced to have just to prove we are who we say we are., basically indefinitely. And where do they think NYC is going to get the millions of dollars that will cost. It is an abuse of the city resources who long ago should have struck that city of refuge declaration off 2:47 books. Although I don’t imagine they ever dreamed a whole country worth of folks would descend on them and pretty much take advantage of every last resource the city had established for their own people who now can no longer afford to live there themselves! So yeah, don’t think that will work for the homeless! American homeless or any other brand!
