The version from 12/16 felt very jazzy to me. Page and treys comping each other was straight jazz, also the closest thing to electronic music I'll ever listen to.
I love these deep Dec' 99 jams because Page actually goes to his piano over these trance grooves. Same with the 12/16/99 Tweezer. Trey is playing around on his keyboard, and Page gets open pastures to roam in. I still can't *quite* tell if those wop wop wop drippy noises at the 11 min mark underneath Page's piano are guitar or Trey's keyboard
DBH yeah probably, but I never know for sure! It might even be treys guitar haha, because he does a lot of similar weird stuff with layering loops during the Radio City Ghost. Cheers for being a critical curious listener!
@@galeofdarkNES i'm so jealous of anybody who got to see this era. Not only was the playing of the band stellar, but their SOUND was the best it ever was. Trey's tone especially.
@@andrewmalone8022 was gonna say the same thing. you need that buildup for the peak. thats what makes slave and reba so great, as well as countless others
Whoa, sounds wayyyy better than the most widely circulating bootleg recording I've come across. Where did you get the audio? Did you process it yourself?
This is the jam that got PERFECTED at Big Cypress. Try that Sand for what I think is the definitive version. This one is pretty damn epic, though.
Yup. It's the best I've ever heard.
I broke my neck head banging to this on the way home. Phish rocks
Don't sleep on '99 Phish, y'all...
Oceanmachine27 I never will!!
🙏🙏
I just woke up.
Don't sleep on Phish. But if you ever did sleep on '99, you might've woke up in 21st century through a worm hole
My friend introduced me to Phish in '99. Oswego then this show and Hartford. Wish I appreciated it as much then as I do now.
Lucky, was born in 04 and just now hearing them.. wish I could have experienced
Space traveling Sand! Love it!
Danielle Tucker Wanna space travel with everyone although I think we already are we just dont know it.
This is absolutely PURRRRFECT Phish. Benchmark. This literally brings tears to my eyes. Nobody can do it like they do. CHRIST! Smack yo Mama Good!
This was a solid show. Did a majority of winter tour minus Portland, DC and the Cypress Show.
I really like when Trey plays tight in the pocket like in the second half of this jam. Absolutely groovy.
2nd show for me ever and it is fire. this sand is why I never turned back after that night in Providence .epic show
Your RUclips collection of Phish videos is sick, thanks for sharing.
My first show, Thanks for posting!
One of the most underrated Sands!

This band man. Wow
Such a tasty version of Sand :D
forever and always let it be known, phish is jazz, at the highest level, phish is jazz
Phish are influenced by jazz. Phish is not jazz.
Supremedaiz Phish is a beautiful blend of a wide range of musical styles and genres.

Space funk.
Damn that was a nasty sand

Often wonder this as well. I thinkkk it's Trey's keyboard right?

im pretty sure its guitar but with his keyboard looping in the background
I saw a handful of 99 shows and loved the dark funky feel to a lot of these shows. It had a rave vibe to it at times.

I'm not a huge fan of the first half of this jam but i feel that without it the second half doesn't have nearly as much impact
Thats phish in a nutshell.

" our fans are always waiting for the 'big bang', and as long as we sniff the roses along the way, we'll get to that" - John Fishman
I've liked this a little more than the Big Cypress one. It sounds more fun to me. Playful is maybe the right word?
Mind Left Body jam happening from Page at 10:30
