    I HAVE A QUESTION OR TWO.. 1. HOW DO SUBCONTRACTORS KNOW WHEN TO SHOW UP TO THE SITE? DAY 1? I MEAN, MAYBE YOUR JOB ISNT NEEDED UNTIL A CERTAIN PHASE OF THE WORK.. LETS SAY, THE TIME IT TAKES TO BUILD A PLAN IS 8 MONTHS. YOUR TASKS WONT BE NEED UNTIL ABOUT MIDWAY.. DO YOU GET A CALL TO BE THERE THEN, OR DO YOU WAIT AROUND UNTIL ITS TIME FOR YOU TO GET YOUR TASKS DONE? WHAT ABOUT DELAYS? AND 2. SHOULD A SUBCONTRACTOR INCLUDE PER DIEM AND HOUSING IN HIS BID PROPOSAL FOR LOCATIONS OUTSIDE OF HIS HOME BASE OR STATE? (SAY 100 MILES OR MORE)

      Those are great questions. If you’re a Sub, you should keep in the loop of the status of projects so you can plan your operations. The GC also coordinates the schedule and lets you know when you are going to start.
      Regarding delays, you need to have an established schedule and/or timeline so if delays are cause by others, you can submit change orders for that work. You should have have it written in your contract so there’s no confusion about it later. Otherwise if I was the GC won’t pay for per firm or hotels.

    How much do estimates cost on average?

    • @iambuilders

      Prices vary by size and complexity of projects. The best thing is to send in the plans with a description of your scope to get a quote. Send to info@iambuilders.com

    I am using dodge but unsure if it works I haven’t had any results on the platform but does dodge work for subcontractors?

    • @iambuilders
      @iambuilders 8 месяцев назад +1

      Yea man. In my Estimating and Leads service for contractors, we use Dodge and Bluebook. The trick is you have to be active and reach out to GCs. You can’t just sit there and wait for them to call you.

      Hey @kevinl1360! I recently helped a contractor looking to pivot from residential to commercial work and found that using automation and personalization in outreach was highly effective.
      We started by drafting several short, authoritative email templates, including an intro, follow-up, and closing message. Each email had a personalized first line with specific details about the prospect to show genuine interest. We organized client information in a spreadsheet and used Mail Merge to send out these personalized emails in bulk. This approach saved time and ensured each email felt personal.
      We dedicated the start of the week to researching and building our prospect list, aiming for 100-500 contacts. Emails were sent midweek (Tuesday-Thursday) around 10 am to catch people’s attention. Leveraging AI tools like ChatGPT, we quickly researched prospects and generated personalized intro lines for our emails. This significantly reduced the time spent on manual research and enhanced the personalization of our messages.
      I think the real key here is to ensure you keep your unique personality and voice with all your outreach by preloading your AI assistants (i.e. ChatGPT) with your own writing samples. At the end of the day, automation and AI should really just multiply your own efforts, not completely replace them or the human aspect. This method helped achieve quick results and saved hours of work each week. By using AI and automation to handle the drafting and research, we maintained a consistent outreach effort while keeping the personalized touch.
      Hope this helps! How are you currently bringing in most of your jobs?

    I have a spray foam business. Would this work for me too?

      Yes, if you’re in commercial, then this is how you do it. You have to make sure you have a mix of local GCs and out-of-town GCs for best results.

      I’m not sure. You can probably call them and see if they have support in Canada. If not, I imagine there is a company doing the same thing over there. If not, you should start it 😬
