    Ive got a Phantom 2 with a servo dropper installed and it is a fishing machine. No phone apps necessary. It carries a 4oz sinker and 6 baits on a longline.

    • @nobodyav7045

      Can I put more then 4 oz?

    • @mikew370
      @mikew370 3 месяца назад +2

      @nobodyav7045 I have tested my phantom 2 and it will physically carry 20oz of lead in 25kmh winds (without line etc). The battery life is seriously shorter. Would I fly with anything like that? No way. The drag from wind on baits, line etc is quite big, and if the line goes in the water it is even more. 4oz and 6 baits (about a third or half a squid) is trusty and tried and tested. It will do 3 or 4 sets to 450m.

    Used to use my phantom 3 advanced to fish. ( second hand). Now I am using my mavic pro with a skyclip with pre made trace rig. The advantage is I use my mavic for videography/ photos as well, so dual purpose. Thanks for the comparison. I'm heading out tomorrow but weather doesn't look too good up in Auckland in the morning.

      @@Fishingreminder I actually prefer the phantom simply because of it's payload, but mavic pro works just fine. Will take 700 grams no problem. (I should have kept the phantom solely as my fishing drone, and have been looking again at second hand ones.) Didn't get out, rain here off and on.

    i have the Phantom 4 Pro/Plus with a Gannet Phantom Pro. I put the low noise propellors on and it seemed faster. The 4 Plus has some advantages like a great screen, no need to cailabrate unless the drone asks you to. The 4 appears the same capacity lifting 800grams safetly. It is another great option if you can find one at the right price

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  2 месяца назад

      cheers for the info. Yeah the 4 is a great drone. Purely in terms of fishing similar to the 3 but I think it is still officially supported. The 3 doesn't get any new firmware updates or support anymore. It's a little more expensive but otherwise a great option.

    I have a fisher max, 3 and a half kg payload, 1.5 km drop range, no calibration needed anywhere, waterproof, has HD camera and a big built in colour screen on controller, not cheap but in my opinion hands down the best fishing drone on the market.

    • @Fishingreminder

      It's a swellpro, right? yeah they are good for fishing but I'd argue that they are perhaps not the best value for money :)

      Yep, for sure you can get good results with a cheaper drone, but if you have the money then they are the dogs bollocks, it’s my second Swellpro and I have had a great time using them. I have also just purchased the DJI Avata 2 for FPV flying and filming and that is an absolutely fantastic bit of kit. ruclips.net/video/Hd5XG1dTxBQ/видео.htmlsi=JTAyURAdNBM6gXzl

    I have had a Condor for a couple of years. I never felt I needed a camera. It can go out 1km so why need a camera? I don't need to send it out that far either. It can go beyond 1km (1500m) and it will auto-return at that point. I just tried it at the start - LOL. Have caught a lot of good fish on it - every time actually since after the first test day. No regrets. 1 battery will do 4-5 casts of 400-600m no problem. 2 batteries will get you hours of fishing - so I always run out of energy before they do. The new version has an added 'button release' option than the 'tension release' also.

    • @walkintomydream7208
      @walkintomydream7208 Год назад

      This mean machine is really made for fishing! Phantom 3 is made for filming so it is additional feature that you can also fish with it, right? But if you want to scout out some surface activities for kingis or structures for the new fishing spots then camera will be useful to have. 😉

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  Год назад +1

      Yeah I like the condor and if you know the beach and area you fish at you don't need a camera at all. We travel and fish in new areas all the time. So the camera does help to scout out an area from the air and look for channels, rocks and weed lines. But you could just use a separate drone for that as well like a DJI Mini. This would then also save battery on the fishing drone.

      @@Fishingreminder Yeah I guess I know the beaches around me pretty well. I can see your point that a camera would definitely help though. I guess budget is why I haven't gone that way, and I am technically challenged enough LOL. :)

    Hey, thanks for an awesome video comparison. question. since you ve been flying your phantom 3 for fishing in salty environment, how do you protect your drone from salt air and corrosion after a fishing day?

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  9 месяцев назад

      Hey man, honestly I don't do anything with it. Sometimes I wipe it down when it's starts looking a bit nasty from touching it with salty and bait-covered hands and then spray a little bit WD-40 on the metal parts. But I only do that very occasionally. I haven't had any problems with corrosion. It's all pretty rust proof.

    • @jcgreenenergybusiness8315
      @jcgreenenergybusiness8315 9 месяцев назад +1

    What is a safe distance to send the Phantom drone into the beach from the shore?

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  2 месяца назад

      the standard phnatom 3 can handle up to 500 meters. I usually go 400 meters max. The pro version can do 1 kilometre I think and the phantom 4 even more. But you really only need 300-400 meters from my experience.

  • @dhiquobgnaloo

    So does the wire release fall into the ocean with your bait ? also i find i need a bigger screen for my dji drone so i use a small 8 inch tablet for a couple of hundred dollars so i would think that the little screen on the controller for the condor would be hard to see.

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  4 дня назад

      Yeah the wire is attached to your line or sinker and will fall into the ocean. But you'll reel it back when you retrieve your bait or fish. I don't think it's necessary - you could also use a loop of thick mono line and plug that into the tension release. A cheap tablet is a great idea. Unfortunately you can't connect any screen to the condor drone as far as I know and the screen on the controller is just a LCD screen, showing you distance and altitude. Although from memory I think you can upgrade the drone with a camera - not sure. So in that case there must be a way to also connect a phone I suppose.

    Hi, do you have restrictions like no fly zones etc? Ive seen you making videos around Tauranga, but lots of the area is restricted due to the airport. How do you get around this? The condor and swellpro seem to be able to fly along papamoa beach where the phantom 3 does not let you. I had a phantom 3 and i could only far at the far end of pap east.

    Excellent video. Question: can you lift 5 baits?

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  Месяц назад

      Yeah it can, depending on the weight. 5 regular baits will be well below the 1KG payload capacity. But I personally don't like fishing with 5 baits. I rather use two rods with two hooks on each and fly them out separately. If you end up hooking up multiple big fish on 5 hooks on the same line then it becomes a real hassle and you risk loosing them too. You also need heavier line (reducing the total amount of line that fits on your reel), possibly an electric reel or winch and you kinda loose the fun of fighting fish. You also increase the chances of getting snagged and loosing your gear. In my opinion not worth the hassle unless perhaps the fishing is very very slow going and there are only small fish to be expected.

    Dont buy dji, and do not use DJI of any sort for fishing. My mavic 3 cine had software glitch, plummeted into ocean, line broke, 5k drone gone, DJI is not taking responsibility, blaming pilot error, they stated "its not allowed to carry any weight with it" i carried less than 100 grams of weight, some how drone thought i was on land and black box data showed it forced landing, but it didnt show on my rc controller any forced landing, it just changed its flight into vertical trajectory and spirallled down into the ocean.
    Dji response "We consulted our engineer, he told us that the aircraft added foreign objects at this flight, which could affect the Ultrasonic, it was active all the time and has a small value even when the aircraft reaches high altitudes. The aircraft will recognize it is still on the ground, the TOF height was 0m, after the pilot pulled down the throttle stick, Near Ground Landing was triggered and the aircraft landed to the water in the end" Which is not true, my rc controller didnt gave me any alarms for forced landing and ive flown my drone many times before, at many different places and used for fishing before, it did not land in water, it literally changed trajectory into vertical position and spiralled down rotating into ocean
