Once I was playing as Wigfrid, and I got a Shadow Manipulator. I made some dark swords, but couldn't find an excuse to use them. And by the time Deerclops came, I wouldn't have had enough time to go and get them. So now he's stuck in a grave, with a meat-shaped dent in his face.
You need to find a way to convince the players better, that their way of playing is the most efficient. I see that many players simply do not accept their tips because they do not want to leave their comfortable zone and try something more efficient. You should do the following: show the time it takes to get cold with a thermal stone, and the time it takes to get cold with a Beefalo Hat. Show how much food you produce with your Berry farms, Bunnymen farms compared to a Improved farm.
Chunk gathering is actually a nice tip. I find it amusing when ppl on public games say they're gathering wood, and end up with 40 wood by the end of a full day. It's important knowing the most efficient way to farm each resource type.
Efficiency can also increase depending on what you find. You can just go to a forest to get wood or you can bait a boss / gear rhino and let them get the wood for you. You can also make some pigs homeless to spare a lot of resource gathering effort. So yea, always keep an eye for faster ways to gather resources, even if they aren't the ones you currently need
bonus tip: don't wast the summer build a summer base in a rocky biome (so there are no fires) spend the days destroying rocks and digging turf this way when you return you will have enough stacks of rich ti build enough walls to expand you're maga base and enough cobblestone to make plenty of paths not sure if this is a good tip but i use it and it works
I'd actually say move to the caves instead. you have None of the downsides of summer, Plenty of opportunity to gather cave resources, and if you don't kill the antlion, the boulders he drops can be used as unbreakable walls or as a good source of stone
Definitely a useful video, but if you don't mind, I have an unrelated question. What's your stance on mods? Obviously blatantly cheaty mods such as "infinite WX78 Overcharge" are one thing, but what about QoL mods such as geometric placement or Combined status? or also mods that add content, but aren't necessarily "cheaty", such as Void gems 2.0 (craftable, but expensive gems that can destroy or collect items) or Carnassial teeth (Makes relatively strong mobs such as Werepigs and Depths worms drop (renamed) hounds teeth)?
APEX Gaming purists will say otherwise, but I vouch for the legitimacy of mods like combined status, and especially geometric placement. However, if your focus is to abstain from cheating, then obviously mods like void gems are going to give you an advantage that was not intended by the developers. But of course, you can play the game however you want.
I'm a sucker for action queue cuz I'm lazy. And I can't live without minimap unless ppl prefer to have this one person who's always be "Oh shit where am i?" "Guys i think I'm lost again..". Also, to most DS players, especially those enjoy building, GPlacement is a need, cuz perfectionism.
Frogs are, in my opinion, the second easiest source of food, behind berries, assuming you are near a cluster of ponds. Drop 8 or so traps, smack a frog (NOT a euphemism) and let them blunder into your traps. Easy to get a full stack of legs in a day.
@@Gusenichka925 "No matter skill" is a bit of an exaggeration, you can kite groups of frogs even during frog rain at it's peak amount of frogs, I've done it myself. It just requires precise timing. (Unless you're Wanda and you have an alarming clock)
@Psychic Chicken oh, i guess so, just its very risky to do so. Never i saw someone do so, if you could, can you make a video where you dodge the frogs,
I should point out that I only use like 8 traps, but then again I play Wolfgang. Still, you can use the traps for crowd control, picking up loaded traps and killing frogs ala ham bat. With a log suit and footie helmet, you don't take a lot of damage. Just keep a large stack of something (twigs, frog legs whatever) in your first slot and just grab them up later.
Two tips I always give to people, new or veteran, is to carry seeds on you at all times. Not only will they come in handy when you finally get a farm set up or are playing as Wickerbottom they last for ages and are easily acquired via birds. This makes them a great Emergency food for if you're out exploring the world and run out of meatballs and have wandered too far from home. Another tip is that I set up a flower garden in my base to spawn butterflies, butterflies make exquisite filler for Meatballs and are the healing potato chip of Don't Starve. They feed you and give 8 hp a pop! Not to mention they are a decent way to spawn Krampus and farm for the ever elusive Butter. Granted this farm will not work in Winter but that's where ice comes into play or any reserve berries you haven't yet picked from your bushes yet. 3 out of 4 times of the year the farm will always be up and spawning butterflies.
I say that both tips are great. Me, even though I have played hundreds of hours, still pick some flowers. Even though, I try to make a b,fly farm so I don't exhaust my source of wings/butter.
First tip....wear armor....no shit! No disrespect of course, maybe title it "tips for absolute new players" still a good video over! Definitely got a like from me.
Farm plots are useful for getting dragon fruit which can make dragon pie which is great for health. If you feed a dragon fruit to a bird you get seeds that only grow dragon fruit so you don’t have to rely on luck. Don’t ignore farm plots entirely but don’t depend on them either
