I have 6 A1Ups now (8 counting the countercades) and this is probably my favorite. It was actually around $250 last year. What's funny is we play Centipede the most even though we have an actual Centipede cocktail table. The spinner on the Tempest A1Up is pretty good, but I got the Taito Egret Mini and the Taito spinner definitely feels more weighted and has a sort of tactile feedback.
Tempest is probably the game I played the most in the arcade as a kid, but I would have to say from my own custom cabinet perspective is that 1Up spinner would drive me nuts. And Space Duel is another I play often and one I spent a lot of time playing years ago. I think vector games intrigued me an probably why I like them the most back in the day.
Same here. Back in the early days of video games, vector graphics looked so clear and sharp compared to CRT graphics I thought they were pretty amazing. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The vector games were my favorite as well because they could do 3D games. I own an original Atari arcade Tempest and also own the original Arcade1up 12-1 Tempest. Man, the 1up cab didn't have a spinner, it had knob. Could not spin it. First thing I did was replace that worthless knob with a real spinner. What in the hell was 1up thinking.
Nice to see a review from a casual gamer... Most reviews are from die hard fans...I feel like you represent a majority of people... I've got like 6... And I can tell you, I'm not the casual buyer.. Lol, but I know many that have waayyyyy more than me... Again good review
Hey, thanks! Yeah, I am not a die-hard "this game is .00005 ms slower than the original arcade" type of guy. It's fun and it feels like the arcade games I remember.
Yeah, I have 6 as well and most of them feel identical to the arcade for me. The thing is, many arcade machines are in non-original cabs, have had parts replaced, etc. So, even in an actual arcade most of the machines aren't perfect.
Hey Mo, good to see you! I wish 1Up would release a Countercade of Tempest. I wonder if the trackball and spinner still work properly. I had bought a Centipede on Partycade and the trackball would not work on the games.
Thanks, Philip! A Countercade would be cool. They have Tempest on the Pong machine and Jon says it works well. You should check out the video if you haven't yet. ruclips.net/video/oimRfCNkB1I/видео.html
We sell the Pac-man Arcade1Up at my work place and I've put together two so far for customers. Without interruptions, it takes about an hour to assemble and this Tempest variation is the same design. The main difference being the roll ball control scheme. I like both, but the price point is still way too high since you are mainly paying for the screen and control board. The rest is just frills. I can see $150 or $200, but definitely not $450. I would love to see a My Arcade version of this with all of the games and I'm surprised it hasn't been made yet considering the "Namco Collection" one is basically the same as the Pac-man Arcade1Up, just in a portable version.
Awesome review, My Dude. Check this out, because of you... if I see this cabinet ANYWHERE... I will get this based on this one review. Thanks again for this great review. Stay amazing, Dude. Can't wait for NFL Blitz for Arcade1up... I'm saving my pennies for THAT!!!!
It rain hard this morning so I took the day off. My wife came out and cooked some steak strips this afternoon that was soooooo good. I love steak, I love all types of steaks. It's meow clear, and the sun came out. I was thinking about going for a ride to see the problem that I had yesterday when I reved hard on second gear I heard a hissing sound, and something sprayed my leg. I thought it ran over a coke bottle, or some kind of bottle, but it happen again. Funniest thing is that when I was on regular road and ran my bike normally, it didn't make that sound. I think I know what it is. My bike telling me to take it easy and not ride like a hoolligian. Shoot! I don't need anymore problems with my bike sicne I set it up for deliveries. I'm sure it's okay, if not I don't mind spending a litlle to see what's going on with it since meow I got a little spare income. Iknow I'm fuull and all, but I'm craving somcething. I'm a diabteses so I can't take in to much sugar, but I'm craving something. I don't think I'm going to make some hamburgers tonight snce I got a lot of steak strips I can eat. Tomorrow whenI come back from work I will be making it, ro my son will be. Right meow I'm just going to enjoy the itme off, and just realx with some good drinks cuz I can't eat anymore.

Had to import this into the UK to complete my set of the original Legacy 4. So glad i did....its one of my favorites.

Nice! I wish I had seen it when it was that price!
I have a modding video for this cab to take it to the next level.
Cool, I’ll check it out!
Nice review man. I really enjoy playing mine as well. I’m hooked on Major Havoc. Really love that game.
Yeah, it’s fun. Difficulty ramps up pretty fast for me, though!
I subbed and ang that bell. Can I share this in a community post? Huge fan of this cab.
Yes, most certainly. Thanks for watching and for the share, Brad.

I never saw Tempest in the arcade so my experience with it only goes back about four years but it's one of my faves

I don't disagree and I had some heartburn paying 400 for what I bought. No regrets but it hurt a little.
You can get one for $199 like I did but no riser and no lit marquee
Really interested in. Seeing Arka Arra!..looks like one of the better 1up cabs..
Yeah, I think so too! AKKA ARRH video is coming soon!
Great review!
Thanks, Ethan! Hope things are finally warming up for you up there!
@@GenXGrownUp yup, the snow is finely melting lol.
Not sure if you've checked out the MVSX yet, but that is a great machine as well (my other favorite).
I haven't but I definitely will! Thanks for watching!
You didn't mention how the sound effects are screwed up on Asteroids.
Really? I didn’t find them to be messed up. Maybe my memory is failing me. 🤪
Looks great!
I really like it! No buyer's remorse here!
Seeing you stand next to it it looks like you’d have to hunch over to play it. Is that with the riser? Otherwise it looks amazing
Honestly the height is fine. Not as high as a regular cabinet of course and I do have the riser
I'd love to see the Bandai Namco Legacy Edition reviewed
Noted.

You’re welcome! I have my eye on a couple more of these cabinets myself!
A quick question when you go to pick one of your games on this after you highlight it with the row ball Do you pick it with the fire button?
You got it! You use the FIRE button to elect the game but then you have to hit the Player 1 button to go into the game.
Hope this helps!

TEMPEST!!!!
You know it!
I should have bought this instead of buying two Geforce RTX 3060 video card!
Lol, I’m surprised you can find two video cards these days! It is a pretty cool cabinet.
I guess my comment was removed. This same cabinet is $315 without the riser at Walmart.
We seldom remove comments. More likely it got caught in review.
OMG SPACE DUEL TOO!!!
Oh wait.
/...counts number of buttons on panel...
Ok. Nevermind. =(
Yeah, playing single player is fine but that wasn’t what made the game fun!
What? Atari? Just take my money!!
I know, it's almost too easy....
$450???? Why is his two hundred dollars more than other cades with the same games, I don’t get it.
This is the 3/4 scale cabinet rather than the tabletop Counter-cades.
Silly it didn't come with Marble Madness!!! Major Fail..
Marble Madness? That isn't Atari.
That's Bally/Midway
1st
🥳
@@GenXGrownUp can you pin it
I can, but I'm not going to. 😉
