Just ordered one, it'll serve as my EDC knife however it will be strictly as a self defense tool. I'll be using it reverse grip on my off hand side to serve as a backup for my firearm.
Its a great EDC blade. Wear it everyday. It just hops from one pair of pants to the next. I understand that its not a bushcraft knife but I wanted go see how it would do in that setting and it did surprisingly well. I just wanted to inform the fans of the channel, which are survival enthusiests, of my findings. - Grimm
Agreed. Interesting discovery though. The other day I battoned some dried wood with it and it performed very well. There is enough room to not strike the top edge. When I did strike the top edge it held up very well. For a self defense knife it has performed very well in an emergency bushcraft setting. - Grimm
Its straight pull for my dominant hand and reverse for my off hand. Since I use it as a tool the straight pull is prefered for every day tasks. The reverse grip for my off hand is great when the dominant hand is already using something. Both grips are comfortable. - Grimm
You know what Laci designed this knife to do. If you need to feather or baton in the woods, go and get another fantastic TOPs tool, the good old BOB. I will tell you this, if you find yourself in a situation in which you need to use the knife in it's primary role, you will definitely appreciate the DE. It will insure a wound channel that should pretty much end the situation.
Violet has the BOB from TOPs. Its a great bushcraft knife. Im looking to trade out my SOG Seal knife soon and finally found a possible replacement. - Grimm
Fair point, but since this is part of my EDC I always like to see how versatile a piece of equipment can be. This knife actually did very well while I was doing my "Get Home" episodes. Also since this is a Survival/Bushcraft/Prepping channel I want the viewers to know if it can be used in those sort of situations. - Grimm

I would have never thought someone would be making fire feathers with this guy, but im glad to hear that it has worked for you. I was just more or less wondering if you could manage some utility tasks with it, because I like the design, but as a fighting knife, I was worried that it would be too thick behind the edge. So it slices? Halfway decent for daily edc? I really want something that can do both, with defense being the primary
I have used it to open packages, cut rope or string. Various every day tasks but I have also carved figure 4 deadfalls, made feathersticks and even batonned some wood with it. It has served me well over the years. - Grimm
That's just how mine came. It could be that they have darkened with time and being used. As far as I know there are no other colored handles unless you make your own. - Grimm
I wouldn't recommend wasting the money. Unless you plan on re-profiling the edges. I had two of these knives when I started collecting, and when I began actually testing my carry knives ( which I definitely recommend), I quickly found that the factory edges on most of Tops knives won't cut meat, or light target material. The edge is way too thick for tactical application. Possibly better suited for woodworking.... possibly!
Sorry to hear that. I myself have had no problems with cutting anything and have just used a DMT diamond sharpener to keep the blade sharp. No re profiling necessary. I actually used this knife extensively in the "Get Home pt 1 and 2" episodes. It served me well. Im curious why you said the blade is too thick. TOPs Felony stop is .19in. A Lotar Kobra knife is .19in and a SOG seal team elite is .24in. All knives designed with tactical application in mind. Hope to hear from you. - Grimm
@@bugoutboystv good morning. The thickness of the knife overall isn't the issue, it's the thickness behind the edge. Most of the " tactical" knives on the market have an excellent silhouette but lack the edge geometry to actually perform ballistic cutting. In the real world as I'm sure you know, people don't often fight naked. So a true fighting knife would need to penetrate clothing, then flesh, while not getting hung up upon removal. The only knives that I've seen pass this test consistently are knives such as buck, fallkniven, cold steel, ka bar, or a few customs from makers such as Fred Perrin. Sure a lot of them are thinner stock, and undoubtedly not as tough as the Tops offerings, but they do what they should, which is cut. Knives that are made for hunting, ie. Skinner's, capers etc. Have performed much better that these so called tactical blades. Btw, please don't think that I'm crapping on your or anyone else's choice of blade. I assure you that's not the case. I just don't want anyone finding out the way I did. I've carried Tops knives, and other "tactical" knives for years. When I finally started doing drills and testing these knives under stress, and for ballistic cutting. I was not only angry that I had spent a ton of money for nothing, but also angered that if, God forbid, I ever had to use these knives, I would have been screwed. I really don't want anyone finding out the way I did.

I noticed you have it setup for straight pull instead of reverse grip is that how you prefer it ?
