Got the chance to see them live this summer for the first time and it was incredible. I hope you'll do a reaction to Wheel of Time after you finish this album it's an amazing song
Reading the Silmarillion for the first time is hard work - not just because of its Biblical themes and language but because it's full of passing references to things that haven't happened yet, and confusingmultiple-names for people and things...But grit your teeth through the first sections and trust that it'll all make sense eventually. and...damn is it ever worth it in the end. But after that you need to read Unfinished Tales - the first of the posthumous Tolkien-archaelogy books - which goes into more detail (more characterization, more descriptive detail) about certain of the Silmarillion events - it's after you've read both of those that you find yourself overwhelmed and a little bit in love with Arda and its inhabitants.
Get the cliff notes. the silmarillion is a history book written in an archaic style, it's both a brick and a slog with an amazing story hidden in there.
Highly recommend reading The Silmarillion and/or reading a short description of what the songs are about

My friend...The Silmarillion is the singular literary work of incalcuable tragedy and mind blowing heroism of all time. It is simply my Bible.
