- It's not all work at Bristol Shipwrights, especially during the Holidays. But before you try any of these tips, unplug the power tools and put down the sharp objects.
It's just a short video, so if you have any unique ways to open a bottle of beer or soda, visit our website at bristolshipwrig... and let us know about them. They may even make an upcoming video.

This is the best video of the years!!!!! thanks people!!!!!!!!
If you're not having fun in the shop...get out!! Good stuff!!
Ken can talk? Amazing! I would love to hang out at the shop and have a beer with you guys after a hard day's work.
The comedy duo of boat builders, I did laugh, well done boys.
This is the best video y'all have ever made. Cheers fellas!
Deffinately important stuff!!! GREAT tips that may save a life! CHEERS from southern Vancouver Island! Happy thanksgiving!
Best vid on RUclips. Ever.
Hands down, the absolute best tips & tricks video ever! Well presented, great description on methodologies, very clear & concise, easily understood by even the most technically challenged of us all.
What a fun surprise. This got my day started with a good laugh.
I have an addition, I sometimes use a spoon in the same way you used the lighter.
Thanks mate keep up the good work.
I would literally kill to have a beer with these guys. Please invite me next time!
Absolutely! 👍👍
One of the best educational videos on YooToob.
Well done gentlemen
Tool experts and boat experts, you know they are true beer experts with those opening methods. You have two hands, better be a beer for each! Damn I would love to work in that shop!!!
Kick back time.....essential!
I'm a slow learner but willing to practice, practice, practice! Best tip ever. Screw caps in Australia sometimes need a nudge or two.

You guys are awesome thanks for the comedy its always nice to have a good cold drink with a friend after a hard days work.
Bandsaw, I neeeed a Bandsaw. Real craftmanship, thanks!
Yeah, and don't forget to keep your hand with you, the bandsaw opener only works if you have your other hand with you.
(He said in the video he usually has his hand with him).
This made my morning. I'm going to go figure out a way to make my little bandsaw heavier.
I wish these two were my grandpas. I lost my last grandparent at the beginning of this year and listening to them go at it reminds me of him. thanks for the good laugh
That's the best end of the day team work 🍺👍
Haha, love it! The lighter is my go to alternative opening method. Good stuff.
Very Inventive !
And with that informative demonstration, I'm ready to build a wood boat!
Good work, guys! These are handy tips!
All right gentlemen. You opened them, you drink them!!
Best bottle opener ever ... pre 1990 factory GMC seatbelts!
Great to see you are still making UTube videos. I lost sight of you after the tips from a shipwrights series.
It is going again.
Never doubted for a minute over the last several years that Lou knew how to open a brew.....
In the '80's I worked at a furniture restoration shop, and fridays we clocked out at 2 and set up a pingpong table and got a 12 pack -- that was a great crew !!
Way to go! You made my day.
Love you guys--so inventive. Keep it up!
I think it is appropriate that the letters BS popped up at the end...Great info guys!
I hope you shared many more stories finishing those beers, Cheers .
Thanks for all the tips. Very handy. Greetings from the Netherlands. I also think it's very funny
Hahaha, best channel on RUclips. Happy Thanksgiving Lou and Ken.
Great Tips From the Master Shipwright.
Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!
You are a wealth of knowledge! I will have to get a 40 inch bandsaw to hang on my keychain so I have it when I need it.
This was the advice I was looking for.
Knew all of them accept the punch and the nose. Have a good weekend. Love the show .
Now get to work boys before they get warm. Thats some funny stuff Happy Thanksgiving men and lord bless.
Absolutely terrific will be thinking of this video all day with a smile on my face. Now where did I put that No 5 I'm thirsty.
EXCELENT Video. Useful and practical.
Well, I think I need to go and practice some more.. Great tips!
Love it!
Absolutely brilliant 😂🤣😂🤣
Cheers!
Absolutely hilarious!
That was funny. I liked the folding rule method.
Love it👍👍👍👍👍
top work lads! Greetings from the UK.
Hilarious!!!!! Thank you, I like it on a saturdaymorning!!!
GREAT! Thanks for some levity!
Thankful for this
Hahaha. No straight lines produced after those beers I'm sure lol. Love the work Louis, look forward to seeing you every week mate!
Curves suits boats the best:-)
Wasnt expecting this one lmao, big thumbs up!
These days I most commonly use another unopened bottle to open my bottle.
But here is a fun one: Get someone to hold your beer. Fully extend the folding ruler. Hold one end of it and put the other one against the bottom of the cap, so that the ruler archs upwards between you and the bottle. Then whip the ruler downwards. Plop!
Love it! Hell yeah
loved it!!!!! Very funny
Hell yeah
Finally something useful 🍺
Oh, hell yeah!
Luv it
Got to get one of those bandsaws
Good stuff! I think the one in my fridge needs to be opened at once.
You only have one? For shame!
@@mgmoody42 I guess that shows he does not finish a project the first time at it. He had one left over from the previous attempt.
I loled. Thanks for the laughs
Attaboys! Brilliant
reminds me of mackerel... i heard they're good smoked, but i can't figure out which end to light.
They're a total bitch to keep lit no matter which end you light, too.
You need to dry it first!
haha clever most of our beers in Australia have screw caps. only the imported stuff still has crown seal
These methods will still work with screw caps ;-)
Lol love it
Wen the shipwrights say hold my beer,u hold the beer
I'm 99% sure they knew what to do with the "so many beers" - after some thought of course.
Actually, it is the practice that is important. I have some experience with this, and I suspect you do too. LOL
What a hoot.
*Just told the wife l need a 40" bottle opener*
*She gave me a folding rule*
Salud!!
Vintage, and I'm not joking!
that was wicked funny
Beeya
'And now we'll see Lou open one with his nose.'
Merlin and Stan have nothing on you guys.
👍 🍻
I promise I’ll bring the beer if you promise to open them an have one (or three) with me!
BLACK FRIDAY SALE......... 40 inch Bandsaws.
😁😁😁
Hilarious! My nose hurts.
The nose is not strong with this one. (Yoda)
:-)
One can use one bottle to open the next one as well, and so one until you run out of bottles or simply the time has come.
Now where did I leave my 40 inch bandsaw at? 😂😂😂
HAHAHA wow this was great!
LMAO. You guys need more beer!
Wow Ken has a New England accent, of course he has that accent.
Poor guys now ya got to drink all the beer you opened up
Haha 😆
I’ll help you empty the bottles next time.
Why am I only finding this now?
I invite You to Czech republic. I'll show You so many right tools and different methods, You've never seen. In my country, whe say All world is one big opener.
ahahaha, thank you guys.
Fuckin' love these guys~
I don’t seem to have the correct tools to open a beer bottle! So I had to revert to my old handleless claw hammer,
Okay, let's be honest...
It has been a few days since this video posted.....
How many viewers have sores on their noses from trying that last method?
Be honest.......
I don’t have a 40” bandsaw. But I do have a 600 ton forging press sitting on a 10” cube of concrete foundation. That should be heavy enough not to tip over when opening some beers.
A 10" cube? So, 10x10x10 inches? Thats pretty small to sit such a large machine on. Maybe you meant a 10" thick slab?
@@thomasarussellsr oops. I meant ten feet. Ten feet deep. Ten feet square.
@@ericmorriscompany9648 hahaha, I thought maybe so.
A couple of old soaks having a break.
Love it!
