Janice I’m sure no one has really been thinking about the fact that once we started using our DSLR, Lightroom, Photoshop, Topaz Labs…A.I. was in its fetus stage, but we were actually using AI. I wrote an article one or two years ago talking about those softwares and how they function. Now we have generative AI that uses diffusion models that can analyze pixels and recreate how we conceptualized images. We are doing image creation in a whole new paradigm. Instead of looking through the viewfinder we will become prompt engineers who can create what’s in our head with more precision and vividness that takes this too a whole new level. The future is how to prompt in such a way you don’t need to rely on known artistic styles.

The copywriting laws will change on this subject Janice. There was a case outside of the US that ruled in favor of the person prompting AI. We all will adapt.

@@staceydenise5538 interesting... the person probably put together a variety of ai to create a special piece? I'm curious why this artist ruled the favor for copywriter. Do you know why they got it?

Been experimenting and using AI since it was released to the public. I currently run 2 AI image servers and yes, it can do amazing things. I think personally, as a photographer you have more to worry about than AI. Even the best AI right now has troubles creating anything realistic. YES, you can create art with it, and it is good enough for the internet and low resolution but, blow it up for print and it is easy to see the diffused noise. I am currently using AI to assist my creativity. Even with the best tuned models you cannot create a real photograph with it. What it IS great for though is Generative filling. To remove lens flares or dust marks. Remove powerlines. Sure, there will be those that use it for nefarious reasons but as it stands right now with most powerful hardware, you still cannot create a flawless photo with it. And honestly, the hardware capabilities will have to at least double before it will get much better. There is however, a lot of HYPE out there about it. And companies are jumping on the hype because it means $$$. AI is fun to play with. It is creative what it comes up with. I have created a few RUclips thumbnails with it featuring cute Pixar style characters. But as far as photography goes, it's not there yet. At least for my work it isn't. There is still an uncanny valley look to it that is easily identifiable and makes it a poor candidate for serious photography processing.
