As a mainly crappie fisher trying to get more into bass, I enjoy the way you say stuff like "you can have baitfish without bass, but never bass without baitfish." Simple thinks that other youtubers forget to mention. Your videos are great, man!
Man I never thought about punching with this thang! I didn't think it would go through the cover good.. makes soooo much sense about the sinker sets on bottom of silt. Great job Gene! I love that you have gotten back to these style of videos.
I finally got my first Tokyo Rig fish last week (3 fish actually). It was a smooth sandy bottom lake. I made short to medium casts and dragged / hopped it back. got a 4.5 pounder in the grass. fun day. Thanks for sharing this.
I cast it. Then slow drag and pop along the bottom. I think Tokyo rig works great on a sandy bottom with sparse weeds. So sensitive you can really feel the bite. Appreciate the advice on mat and punching Good video
Thanks for the info! Been applying a lot of the stuff I’ve learned from your videos and have seen great improvement in my fishing game. Never had anyone to teach me these things. Grateful for your channel! Passing it down to my kids.
That's a great tip on vertical fishin it. I was draggin and it got hung up alot but now thank I think about it all the fish I gave caught on it was ahakin it rite at the boat. All my fish came real close. Never on a far cast. Love the channel man. Great work And info.
Thanks for the Tokyo Rig video, got the hooks, swivels, sinkers, etc.. Month ago and then couldn't find a good video on how to rig and fish it. Taking it to a tournament this coming weekend! 🤞😉😃
Thank you for an insightful discussion on the Tokyo rig. I made several rigs; however, I've been reluctant to use them because I really didn't understand how to use the lure effectively. Thanks to your discussion, I'll be using the lure with regularity.
Great video. Grass has gotten thick this summer already. Gunna give this rig a try this evening. Will keep an ear out for "popping matts" 😎 Heard it before and didnt know what it was.
Thanks for the video Gene. I fish in some unique lilly pads that are above the water and a punch shot is difficult. Will this work better in those type of lilly pads?
"Fish 'till you get bit." I've wondered about this for a while.. When you're in search mode (Tokyo Rigging or otherwise), how much does the quality of that 'signal' bite matter? I've read/seen in many places that larger fish tend to be loners or at least they tend to hang with other bigger fish. Do you stop and work an area over thoroughly if that first bite is just a peanut?
I know it's not probably not the right video to ask. I'm looking at fish finders, is a 9inch screen to big for a kayak? I am looking at garmin 93sv and lowrance ti2.
Great video.. have u tried this technique around docks? I mean I know it would be tough to skip under docks but I was thinking certain areas on the dock could be good.. Wat u think?
i agree about heavy rods.. i use heavy, but you just have to be mindful of your hookset power. if you tone it down you can definitely get away with it and not snap your rigs.
I don't have a store anywhere near me that carries punch/Tokyo rigs, and I'm going fishing tomorrow so I can't wait for one to be delivered. So I just made my own Tokyo rig out of a 4/0 EWG worm hook, a t-turn 3-way swivel and a straightened out heavy-duty paper clip. Opened the eye of the hook, attached one end of the tee to it and closed the eye back up. Then I carefully twisted about 4 1/4" of the paper clip onto the bottom of the tee swivel, added two bullet weights -- one up / one down like you showed -- and then made a little curly-q on the end of the wire to hold the weights on. I'll direct-tie my line to the other tee of the swivel when I get on the water, load up the hook with whatever creatures I have in my box and punch it all through a huge bed of 10' weed grass we have down by our dam. Fingers crossed :) Thanks for the confidence to try it.
LOVE THIS VIDEO, Been needing a new finesse style technique for heavy grass. Going to be trying this technique out soon. Check out if i can get this rig to work on my channel!

Great videos!!!! Tokyo rigs are the real deal. When fish are finicky...I use 4” senko instead of creature and get more bites
Thanks for the info! Been applying a lot of the stuff I’ve learned from your videos and have seen great improvement in my fishing game. Never had anyone to teach me these things. Grateful for your channel! Passing it down to my kids.
Gene! That was one of the better Tokyo rig videos I’ve seen yet, definitely top 3 for me! Good work! 👍🏻👍🏻
These are the flukemaster videos I love

Glad to see you back in the instructional segment. You do this well. It is why I subscribe and watch. Keep it up!

Never heard the Tokyo rig explained so well! Thanks Gene!
Great vid Gene! I’m glad you’re doing these type videos...i need all the help I can get
This man is a absolute legend!!!
I learn so much from your videos you and fishing with norm and kickingtheirbasstv inspired me too start my channel
Morning Gene, Great video, I fish the tokyo rig all the time, i really like it, i use creature baits, worms, and flukes on mine
How do you fish a fluke on it? Same as a creature bait?
I can’t believe I just ran into you in a Live Speros Stream that’s too funny 😂🎣
I can’t play worth a crap but I love watch COD and Speros is a great guy.
That opening hookset though!! 💪🔥
Thanks, this really helps. Soon it's pre-spawn here in South Africa and that means fishing in the grass beds...
Thanks for the video Gene. I fish in some unique lilly pads that are above the water and a punch shot is difficult. Will this work better in those type of lilly pads?
Great vid Gene. Love your vids man. Keep up the great work
I think it's a great idea. But mainly a heavy version of the dropshot.

What size hook do you commonly use? VMC has 3/0 to 5/0.???

Hey don't call my word DUMB!! GI-NORMOUS I use it all the time! @14:34
Great catch
Like always thanks for the lessons
Question do you always use two weights when using the Tokyo Rig ? 🎣
Only when fishing grass.
Great video.. have u tried this technique around docks? I mean I know it would be tough to skip under docks but I was thinking certain areas on the dock could be good.. Wat u think?
It works great but I'm saving that for another video
Great information. Thank you.
What's the reason for the 2 weights vs. Just 1 big one....and what size were they?
Mainly for the shape. It punches through the grass easy and comes out easy.
Awesome video as usual. Can't wait to throw a Tokyo rig and really gotta get some Just Fish shirts for everyone at Team YOLOtek! #AlwaysBeRecording
Beautiful morning gene
Great video
Thank you love the videos
Good job bro
Hey Gene next time at Guntersville and don't mind a ride along hit me up.

Thanks for the confidence to try it.
LOL Raise the roof Gene!
16:30 baitfish are right on the surface behind yah cool
Punch a fluke. Interesting idea!

Yessss, been waiting to see how you’d use it for grass
To me here,s proof line means nothing, the space shuttle crashes through the cover here and the fish bites, it’s speed and visibility.

Gene fart at 5:45??
Fake hookset on a fish that was already caught for the intro lmao
First to comment first
No!!!!!! Not you, too!!! Another Tokyo Rig video?
