Great videos. Your video prod skills definitely improved in time. I love your content and detail. Very happy to have another windsurfing channel that rocks that catches up on windsurfing tv. We windsurfers are glad that you keep up with our loved sport. When do you do a show together? That will be epic ! 🤙
Great video Nico. Very well explained. And we can clearly see on your face after sailing it that this is a big improvement. Pure joy and enthusiasms. I belive you:) Have a 6.6 for foil slalom/blasting on order.
O my god this quality of filming. I mean. All the part when tou were riding. With the drone clips etc... very very nice. Very nice jibe also. Well. I wanted to ask if the 2020 sails were gonna be the same in 2021 (which makes full sense) and i think in unferstood that it ll be the case. Are you going to croatia in july 1st pwa event ? Not so much time to get used with the sails
Could I ask for a bit more detail on your batten tensioning for new sails - it seemed like an important point and would love to hear more about that - vids are great, thanks so much for all the effort you put in! 🤙
@@maartenmidden1651 Have you ever seen, how modern sails are produced? There are 3d-printers creating one huge polymer molecule, that exactly matches the shape intended. Stronger than steel, no flexing anymore. Less drag, more power, more control. And bloody expensive, that's a minor problem. Let's hope all sail experts will buy the tools for those miracle sails. Matter of time. Remember Ten Cate (Hardenberg, Holland) was a textile factory? In those days sails were pretty traditional. But cheap? Erm...nope. Those TC boards were "duur", when new. No news from the western front...
I thought that the sail wouldn´t reach a perfect twist when u explained about it having low aspect ratio, But in fact by the time u were n the water i could clearly see it. and it was steady..I that´s why u felt it was so stable..Nice
Interesting take. Well, slalom colors will stay for next year, but I'm pretty sure they will match the board colors accordingly. By the way, the slalom foil board already matches the colors.
@nicoprien Will the new evo13 on time? Due to beining sick, cancer, I’ve sold my old sails and pre-ordered the new ones. Which mast do you recommend for the 5.8. The 400 or 370 rdm?
Vielleicht weil die Marketing Abteilung uns jedes Jahr neues Equipment aufschwatzen will? Bitte um Kommentar.
The new sails look great. The fun, bright colors manufacturers use is one of the things that attracted me to windsurfing. What do you do with your old gear?
Just noticed u two also dont rotate your boom Hands, did i miss something? Or was it just before the jibes? Im asking because last year i suffered some lower bicep string pain after just 2 long surf sessions on vaccation and now im curious if this could have been caused it.. i was pretty good powered, not really overpowered but wind was pretty strong. i kept on feeling the pain on special moves even months later.. sails look pretty sick imo, and as usual nice jibing!
Nico, in your video you say, that EVOXII 7,4 have much shorter boom, than EVOXI 7,8. According to NP homepage the difference is nothing: 202-208 (EVOXI) vs 201-208 (EVOXII). Is there wrong measurement printed into EVOXII 7,4 sail??
Very true, I got confused with the aspect ratio. Because the sail became taller (relative to the surface area) so in my head the boom became shorter. Which is true, when you put it in relation to the luff length 😄
@@Nico_GER7 i meant that according to my experience, the actual boom length is shorter for EVO12 7,4 than EVO11 7,8. Although the numbers printed on a sail says thy are equal. And now question no2: Do you cut 3rd batten from top shorter up to 5mm. Because in some sails, that batten #3 feel under pressure too much.
How much wind for 7,4, width of the board and fin? Do you really think we buy the argument that this sail is so much better than the previous version that was already so much better than the previous and so on? I would be curious about real comparison. GPS in hands, the last year sail and this year sail....ah...no...we cannot compare...the sizes are now different... 😕🤨
Guess you have to wait for the competition so we can prove, or you try it yourself. Can hardly believe myself how big improvements are still possible. Every year I think that this is the pinnacle... but it’s the same with everything in the world. Everything keeps getting better and more efficient.
I indeed do not deny the fact that we progress. I agree we are incrementally improving our gears, year after year, but I do believe the skills of the rider contribute more to the performance improvement than the gear itself, if we compare year n-1 and year n. I am doubtful that one of the knowingly best racing sail on the market last year, is overpassed, by far, by the new one this year, and it is valid for all brands 🙂. I believe it is subtile changes which make a difference for riders who have your skills and racing, tuning abilities. I unfortunately don't have the needed skills to assess the level of improvement by myself, that's why I would love to see objective, measured comparison, and I do know how difficult and skewed they can be. 😉 Very good channel that I watch with pleasure, Nico. Would you mind telling how much wind and which gear you were using with this 7,4 and fly like this? I use 7,8 (2 cam freerace) up till 20kts, then it is 6,6 (2 cam freerace) until 25-28kts, with 69cm board, 81kg rider and 32cm Weed fin....and I hardly ever pass 30kts over 10s. I GPS all my sessions, I am quite analytic mind. 🙄🤔🤨
@@FrancoisTCS I agree fully with you. For the general freeride slalom-gear user, these changes will be be neglegtable, because the sails are very good already since years. I even could imagine that high aspect will be a step back for recreational sailors. For the same reasons why for many years they haven't been high aspect. WRT the sizing I ask myself if because of "Foil" a 8.2 will be the crutial size in the future with which Standard windsurf is faster than foil. Ergo every race below that wind will be foil. And deducting from that there will be only one medium size Slalom board left in the future. Maybe a tad wider? Could my thoughts point in the right direction?
Faster sail, faster sail, every year I am hearing this same song since '90, but overall speed doesn't change pretty much if at all :) - look my comment last year
I will always give my honest feedback, otherwise I would become worthless for brands ...luckily NeilPryde never comes out with bad stuff. Or they don’t send the bad stuff to me 🤷♂️😂
considering most gear is bought by people that live at Tourism destinations. l do not think many people will be buying any gear this year because there is no tourism to speak of because of the covid-19 issue, there for people wont be able to afford anything
This new size comparison is not objective. The explication is not convincing. You should stop backing anything this brand does to market their sail and concentrate on gaining speed with the biggest managable sail. A friend.

This Sail is amazing !! on fireee 🔥🔥🔥
I hope now that NP have solved they production issues, the sails will become more affordable.
Yes that would be nice! I switched to another brand because the sales are so crazy expensive.
And hope that NP will product 3 cams sails for slalom or foil when you are not a professional windsurfer
