I really think he deserved that ballon d'or instead Cannavaro. He could also get it in 2009 after the trebble of Barcelona because when he joined Inter, he won another trebble back to back. So, even if Messi deserved, I think Eto'o was the more influenced at that time because he was clearly the best striker in the world, won two trebbles back to back and had a better carreer than Messi.
