"He has a magic dagger that only kills dipshits." *Writes that down for personal reasons.*
That's called the twin Blades of Zz'ria. 😁
thats such a deep cut because Mihawk kicked Zoro's ass with a dagger too.
Honestly I see Luffy as being so excited by how cool every class is that he tries to multiclass everything.
I could see Zoro playing a monk as a sanji parody and Sanji playing a Samurai fighter as a Zoro parody.
iM a MoNk ThAt OnLy KiCkS bEcAuSe My HaNdS aRe WeAk.
Sanji sh!t talks Zoro that he wouldn’t play and then Zoro is suddenly at the table with everything for the game at the ready.
He learns how to follow directions out of spite... No, ok, that's just impossible
Constant shit talking throughout the campaign too
Zoro getting lost is never gonna be not funny 😭
Brook would be that meme of the wizard asking "Are there any MILFs here?" every time they arrive at a new location.
bwila
What's funny is that, if I know my DnD players right, Robin's campain will be made wholesome while Chopper's will be made dark.
As soon as Sanji figures out how charisma checks work he would just allways play the horny Bard.
Sanji and Zoro could easily role a parody of each other trying to make it look as ridiculous as possible, but failing because trying to best each other while playing they'd end up resulting very badass.
Usopp is the perfect DM, but, I think Franky would be a badass DM.
Imagine Franky crafting models of his world, or the characters, or anything else he could craft up.
I know right?! Based on thriller bark he could whip up a dragon breathing fire with lights and motors and an armature to hold the new player figures while attacking all around it in mid-air! And all in under 10 seconds flat!
Is the Nami being a barbarian with a big ax an intentional reference to her original concept or is it just a coincidence?
Yes
Its tekking, you know he loves that design
Something I had come to mind when Tekking mentioned Sanji trying to hit on Nami's character
Sanji: Hello Beautiful
Nami: You know I'm playing a dude, right?
Sanji: Did I stutter?
Oh, and let's face it: *SOGEKING* is exactly what Usopp's character would be like.
Sanji makes snacks and vibes with friends, Brook plays some music, Jimbei supervises, and the others are players
Also, Franky makes minis
I feel like Zoro loves swords SO MUCH that he'd go for fighter cuz I almost can't imagine him wanting to mix things up with other weapons. Plus I don't think he's the most creative guy, I could totally see him just making himself for his character.
To be fair, I could still see him as a Barbarian with the Outlander background. The dude just carries an ōdachi everywhere. So just a normal greatsword in mechanics, but given a flair that Zoro digs in character.
I really like the idea of Robin as dm, but I do think there would be a total party kill in every round 😅
It gets dark when her imagination runs wild. . . But also (suprisingly) cutesy. . 😂
Chopper is playing so she would probably lower the difficulty just for him. lol.
My headcanons:
Zoro: A power gamer who min-maxes combat with little to no thought put into backstory or roleplay.
Luffy: Constantly forgets the range of melee.
Robin: Pays so much attention to detail she keeps catching the GM's lore mistakes.
Zoro the murder hobo
Robin would run a BEAST of a Strahd campaign.
YOOOOO god damn she absolutely would but you know she would just hand choppers Paladin the Sunsword right out of the gate
@@zero-yi6ko
Yeah because she knows the Group need it
Between the commitment to the video and the obvious levels of hype, Matthew's gotta genuinely be one of the biggest nerds on the entire planet. And that's exactly what we're all here for.
I was like "who tf is matthew" 😂 Took me a sec
This is really peak void month content
Less than a minute in and I’m saying it now: Usopp would be the best encounter designer, but Robin would be the ultimate world builder!
I also love Brook's idea. The first Char I ever made, that even got me interested in DnD was playing my father who had passed just prior, and I used DnD to try to get my mind off of things. He was a religious man who was a soldier, so I had made a Char named St. Ladon who was a Paladin... And the DnD community, which I didn't realise at the time because I had never played before, was so awesomely awesome, that they made drawings of him, and used him in their stories....so much so, that I never actually USED the character.... I was afraid of letting him die as an inexperienced player. But just seeing his legacy being accepted and used meant so much to me at that time....
I really guessed that Robin would be the best second choice for DM. She's incredibly knowledgeable, surprisingly fun and silly, and serious when she needs to be. Great ability to reign people in if need be.
This actually sounds fun to watch
10 people role-playing as the strawhats in the story with their personalities and EVERYTHING in DnD
Get the voice actors on this lmao
@@PearlySlowpoke or let the live action crew do it - funny either way
This actually reminds me of DnD idea I talked about involving Ussop once, basically if you cast true polymorph on something they can be stuck like that indefinitely until certain things dispell the magic on them, something that can dispell the spell is the transformed creature taking its new current max health in damage. And no overflow damage.
So basically basically give Ussop a big bag filled with True Polymorphed creatures turned into say glass marbles that will break on impact, now throwing say a badger at someone doesn't seem like much of a threat but picture what happens if he nails someone in the mouth with it, or right up their sleeves, Ussop has the skill and precision to do that repeatedly from the other side of a city with minimal difficulty.
And its not limited to small creatures, anything you could cast true polymorph on like for example a bear, a manticore, heck even a soldier/town guard.
I want a fanfiction of the straw hats playing a one piece equivalent of dnd. I bet franky would be the one to bring it up and he'd probably be the dm cuz he would be the only one who'd actually know about playing
Feels about right.
Ussop would probably be the strongest character in DND. Get all the best rolls due to his luck.
Zoro would somehow get lost all the time and find all the cursed blades.
Nami would get all the money or take it from you
Robin would be asking all the lore and see the holes in it.
Franky would pick the most flashy unit.
Zoro won't stop attuning to magic items, keeps getting cursed, has already switched genders, lost an eye, and has advantage on attacks against allies
No, no. The thing is, Zoro can just say "My character goes to [destination]" and the table just...lets him do that unless he specifies how the character gets there.
@@psychronia Usopp would deffinately ask the first time "How do you go there?"
Z: "I go to the nearest bar and ask for directions."
U: "How do you get to the bar? >:)"
Z: "Booze sense. I can tell where the nearest source of alcohol is."
This is just what happens in the story already
I feel like Zoro would end up lost on the Sunny and not even show up until mid session.
Low Stake DnD would be like:
Usopp: You see a crying child saying everything is over because his ice cream is on the ground.
Luffy: I punch the child because he's crying and giving up on life. Also I eat the ice cream.
*Nami beats up Luffy*
Nami: YOU CAN TALK TO HIM FIRST!!!!!
No, Luffy beats up the ice cream man until he gives the boy a new cone.
@@metallord6960 He would do both considering how he treated Coby when he first met.
Luffy: I am talking to him . Thats how grandpa talks to me.
He doesn't like crybabies, probably didn't like that he was one.
Did you forget that Robin can make a clone of herself and still freaking play as a actual player while still DMing
That's just DMPC
Also that might risk sanji's life
I literally had to pause this video at this point because this bit had me WHEEZING:
Zoro: Wait I'm dead? How?
Sanji: (to Quote Tekking) "He has a magical sword that only kills Dipshits."
I can't right now, that was amazing 😂❤
5:06
So basically Luffy would be the Daniel Greene of their campaign.
Accurate. XD
Robin - DM for sure, on top of the hana-hana and historian expertise, she's the most patient of the group
Luffy - Fighter, he's super into armor, he would hoard all the armors
Zoro - Minmaxed barbarian (which he gets help making), and he snoozes during RP moments
Nami - Wizard with a bag of holding to make herself the party's treasurer
Usopp - Ranger with a highly detailed backstory, being a great hero from Sniper Island, a giant hammer as a side weapon, and an army of 8000 men ready to help the party out
Sanji - Bard, but instead of flirting on Nami's character all session, he'd play a female character so he'd be allowed in the women's baths and other such shenanigans
Chopper - Paladin, roughneck, almighty, but still gets giddy when offered sweets or getting praised by NPCs
Franky - Rogue, but he'd do stealth sections in a "can't get caught if there's not witnesses" way
Brook - Druid with a connection to the sea, represented by whale imagery, and also he'd use wild shape to get petted by women
Jimbei - Warlock, making his relationship with his patron a way to involve himself more with the story and for Robin to intervene when he's having trouble with the rules and such
And I could see them splitting into groups to accommodate the styles of play they'd enjoy, like...
Luffy, Zoro, Franky - Heavily combat-oriented and generally sticking to the Rule of Cool
Nami, Sanji, Jimbei - Plot-driven, with lots of intrigue and doing mostly RP to solve disputes, may end up adopting NPCs like crazy with Nami being weak to children in need, Sanji to damsels in distress, and Jimbei for it being the honorable thing to do
Usopp, Chopper, Brook - They would be character-driven, fulfilling their goals and focusing on making every moment enjoyable.
I feel like there would never be a dull moment with Usopp if he was the DM of the session, his crazy imaginative stories and quick on the draw thinking would keep the Straw-Hats on their toes.
Tekkin hasn't been the same since the one piece drought of 24
Luffy would be a bard with how obsessed with musicians he is , + charisma >>>
Okay, i need tekking tomake more videos like these about how the Strawhats interact with eachother on things its too funny
6:20 " *There's a peppermint forest?* " You know he was thinkin "shit we have seen that in one piece aswell" as he kept talking
shoutout to Oda for including allmost every trope ever in his work
Personally I think Robin would be the go-to DM because she knows how to manage all the straw hat dynamics and could write a compelling story for all of them. Luffy doesn’t care about lore? No problem, give him something to punch that will give the rest of the crew key info in fighting/defeating it (and so forth for every straw hat’s preferences). I think Usopp would also have more fun immersing himself in the gameplay than having to juggle all the straw hats’ chaos lol
Love the shoutout to Tulok, been watching him for a long time! I know he's kinda over doing D&D stuff now, but I popped off seeing his Luffy and Zoro video (Also helps that the builds were great for them both)
The chopper part had me laughing so hard!😂😂😂😂😂
My list for what the straw hats would pick would be:
Luffy - Barbarian: I agree he wouldn't over think it, and luffy is always trying to use weapons, so to me he wiuld always try and find a bigger Axe
Zoro - Rogue: Because he would constantly go off and do soloquests because he got bored
Nami - Druid: She would be a person who tries very creative but feasible answers to the DM's (Robin) problems, and I find Druid works well for that, and I think she would just enjoy being a cat.
Ussop - Artificer: For similar reasons to Nami, he would have very creative answers to problems, but they would not be as feasible, and he strikes me as a person, like you said, would talk to the DM a lot, and would have a very intricate backstory, but I think he would try and make a Deathray or something
Sanji - Cleric: For the exact reasons you said, and also any pretty lady in the story that Robin made.
Chopper - Paladin: I thought he would want to be a big guy like you said, but I also feel like he couldn't not play something that helps his friends.
Robin - DM
Franky - Warlock: My main reason is he would want to play something that he could build, which to me Warlocks and Fighters are definitely that, and I also think he would want to multiclass because he saw an NPC do something cool and ask how he can do that.
Brook - Ranger: Because I like your reasoning for Yorki, and Yorki feels like a cowboy and Rangers make the beast cowboys.
Jimbie - Fighter: For the reasons you said, but he would take the unarmed fighting style.
Honestly, I love the idea of the Straw Hats playing a Tabletop RPG, as a concept for an anime filler episode or a fan fic -- but I'm not sure a game as mechanically complex as D&D is the best fit for them, honestly. I mean, can you imagine Luffy understanding AC or keeping track of hit points? Maybe something that combines "dark edgy" tone with very simple dice roll rules -- basically, you try to do something, and you either succeed or fail -- so something like (the One Piece equivalent of) Gateway, World of Darkness, or Blades in the Dark.
Honestly, yeah I can. Like Tekking said, being a barbarian lets him just run in and get into adventures would be a thing Luffy loves. Sure he might not understand AC at first, but it doesn't matter all that much because he's a Barb and his health is doing the lifting. Luffy just focuses strength and hits stuff. He gets reminded of the rules from time to time by Usopp or Nami.
The improv DnD from DougDoug comes to mind for this.
Set up: At some point Luffy found this D&D Equivalent and bought.
Location: On the Sunny, either Docked which means someone has to keep an eye out for enemies or while out on sea which means someone is steering the Sunny
DM: Usopp
Players
Chopper- Plays a human Cleric and given the visual medium of One Pieces this Cleric looks like a young Hiriluk for some reason
Brook- This D&D equivalent has been around for a while so Brook had a character, but decided to change it. Back with his old crew he played a Male Bard, but now he plays the daughter of said Bard took a level in necromancer wizard or something
Zoro- I don't think Zoro would play, if their docked while playing he's the one keeping watch and even then I don't see him playing
Nami- For some reason I can see Nami playing a Druid and I think Usopp is the type who would allow homebrew, so she would play a circle of the Sunny D.
Luffy- He would be forced to play fighter, Luffy is simple I don't think he'd get the more complex classes, but Luffy would try to play one of these complex classes
Sanji- Honestly I don't think Sanji would play either, he'd bring in snacks every other minute for Nami to enjoy though.
Franky- Some would say Artificer, but in my heart for some reason Franky would choose Wizard
Jinbe- He doesn't play, not because of the reason Zoro would, but because he got that dad energy that doesn't mash well with D&D. He enthralled by the story being told but doesn't touch the game himself
Robin- Back on Ohara she would play with the scholars playing as a Paladin whose Oath was to protect forbidden knowledge (yes a little on the nose). When she join Baroque works, that Paladin became an oath breaker but after she joined the strawhats she retired the paladin and made a warlock
Tekking has played the most player characters of all the players in Rustage's livestreams.
I’ve never really played D&D and always thought it wasnt for me, but the amount of sheer passion and intrest just raidiating from tekking makes me wanna give it a try😂
There’s also a matter of what races everyone plays and I can see the crew noticing the Triton and asking Jinbei if it’s fine for them to play it.
I can absolutely see Jimbei putting on a pair of reading glasses, looking down his nose to read at his character sheet just like a real dad 😂
i just started my first dnd campaign and i have never felt so confused during a game in my life. My buddy does something similar to robins df he made a google sheet so he can look at everyone character sheets mid game
there are 13 memebers including the dm in my dnd group.
on a side note, I could see that if the straw hats played a game, ussop and robin collaborate on a campaign as dms
Amazing as always - someone in your comments must be an artist, can’t wait to see a tableau of this scene!
When two of the main topics I watch RUclips for combines
Here's what I think the straw hats would play as (assuming they don't DM):
Brook: Triton - College of Swords Bard (Himself but alive, and able to swim with and talk to whales. Sings his in-character songs, helps Jinbei with his racial features)
Chopper: Minotaur - Samurai Fighter (Zoro doesn't realize that Chopper tries to be like him)
Franky: Reborn - Storm Herald Barbarian (Refuses to wear armor or clothing, shoots lightning from his speedo's)
Jinbei: Fishman(Triton) - Champion Fighter (Human is a bit too exotic for him)
Luffy: Warforged Armorer - Artificer (He doesn't understand how his character works, but he thinks being a robot in cool armor is the coolest thing ever)
Nami: Satyr - College of Eloquence Bard (low-key the most annoying player on the table, wants to use her ridiculously high persuasion skill to get whatever she wants. Sanji always gives her Guidance)
Robin: Forest Gnome - Circle of the Shepherd Druid (Just wants to talk to animals, but also the most powerful character on the table because she thoroughly read all the books)
Sanji: non-variant Human - Peace Domain Cleric (He was not allowed to play the playtest Love Domain Cleric)
Usopp: Goliath - Oath of Glory Paladin (A fearless giant warrior)
Zoro: variant Human - Hunter Ranger (dual wielding, stronger against specific "creature types", cannot get lost)
Chopper wanting to be like zoro is adorable.
Keep up the great work and videos tekking love the video
Great video idea, I was captivated the whole time
This was pretty funny, thanks for sharing Tekking.
Tekking getting so excited over the idea of the Straw Hats playing DND is peak content, thanks for making void month bearable!
Sanji:
I roll for sneak to peek into the womans bathroom
Robin:
MILLE FLEUR! SLAP!
26:15 Chopper's thing was wanting to be accepted, running from rejection. Then becoming the cure all because of who accepted him, now he's a doctor pirate.
His character might be big and brave but also timid and childlike at times.
So oath breaker paladin would work, or maybe a bard (that might be Ussop too).
He's a friend of animals but he is neither wild nor full humanoid.
Perhaps his character is cursed or like a werebeast.
hey i truly appreciate your content thank you bro
I loved this video! It is the exact kind of thing I think about!
I really truly thought when Tekking started talking about Brooke's character having a cowboy hat that he was about to set up Brooke's character having the folk hero background and that his backstory was the story of 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia'
For Nami she original design did have her welding a giant axe and one of her arms was made of metal.
So maybe a barbarian with warlock with storm Magic or a wizard with storm Magic and Rogue Thief class as her multi-class
Artificer/rogue
Hear me out though: Robin and Ussop DM tag-team. Robin focuses on worldbuilding and rolling and draws all the maps, Ussop does all descriptions and NPC role-playing and creates all the mini-figures (with Franky’s help)
Great video too!
My max is *ELEVEN PEOPLE.*
But it's not a one-shot.
I've been a DM for four campaigns across 12 years.
Our group varied a bit, but the core members were always there.
At a minimum, we were 7 plus the DM (me). For most of the first campaign.
At a maximum, we were 10 plus the DM (me). For the entirety of the second and third campaign.
Love this
I'd be super worried of Robin was the DM. It would go super dark real quick. "You enter a forest. You see butterflies. The butterflies are the captured souls of murdered children. To save the children you must burn down a retirement home or they will stay tortured until the end of time " this is in the first few minute of the game.
The straw hats are all horrified
I think I might use that...lol
One piece and D&D 2 of my favs being a topic in a tekking101 video christmas has come early lol. Also One piece already feels like a pirate themed dnd campaign in anime form sometimes in my personal opinion. i could definitely see it working as a setting for actual D&D.
A sorcerer is a good fit for Sanji because sorcerers are born with powers, kinda similar to his siblings, which I guess could be an argument for why it’s a bad fit for him too
omg imagine Brook as dm he would make skull jokes constantly!
I could see Luffy learning of fireball and going straight for sorcerer. Ok you walk into a room... fireball... you see a small group of people arguing in the street over a dead body fireball... You get the idea
Wow I'm taking the first spot so nobody can be cringe here your welcome. Also great video as always Tekking!
First…. Oh shit
W mans
So much for no one being cringe.. huh “mans”...
You're* also it's cringe to call someone cringe.
@@StrawhatRye what
When he said they had Fritos, idk why, but that’s when I was like “Tekking plays quite a bit of d&d”
I wish you went into what each of the characters would choose to be their Race option as the Class discussion was so much fun I wanted to hear more 😂
My desktop background for the last year has been a picture someone made of the Straw Hats (pre Jinbe unfortunately) playing DnD around a table and Law is the DM. Bepo is also there sleeping behind him. If you can find it online, please do! If not, maybe I can send it somehow?
Either way, my favourite part is how authentic to their character each reaction is. It feels like Oda himself draw it!
Very creative
Robin’s DM would be so crazy because everyone would get to a certain point of the campaign and she would probably do something like “The god of this world has approached you all. Someone must sacrifice an arm in order to save everyone, with a need to roll for survivability”
The Choper Man episodes really just are this concept
Luv you tekking ❤️
Epic Campaign... lvl 20 plus.... 11 people.... It was truly epic.... best campaign I've ever played.... I was a fire djinn monk lvl 35 barbarian lvl 35
We had a crew in high school of 13 people. We started with 2 different games and 2 DM's. To end our year long campaign, we combined both games with one DM. Took a couple months to finally end it. It was the greatest campaign we ever did.
Yo tekking rocking the supernatural drip 💀👌👌🔥
I love the idea of the Straw Hats playing D&D reminds me of the Straw Hat Theater “RPG Time” & Robin would totally be reading the books while playing just like she did in the non-canon part “Hit & Dead Ball” of the Davy Back Fight
Now i need a fanart of the strawhats playing D&D
1:18 Ludfy wiuld be a MENACE 😂😂
Choppers d&d campaign would just be adventure Time
So here's my hot take on the strawhat classes + races if they were all playing DnD together:
---
Luffy, Monk + Half Orc - Versatile weapons feat for his spontaneous G5 style + 'Relentless Endurance' racial trait so the protag doesn't die
Zoro, Barbarian + Tiefling - Straightforward for him not to get sidetracked + chooses the opposite skills and abilities of Sanji to spite him
Nami, Sorcerer + Tabaxi: Weather-like connection and spell-list + her epithet as the cat burglar with her agile glass-cannon like fighting style
Usopp, Rogue + Goliath: Harks back to his early underhanded tactics + Giant-like character that has racial traits similar to Elbaf warriors
Sanji, Cleric + Fire Genasi: Healing the women like a true chad (or SIMP!) + his interpretation of the hottest race with fire powers and sky walk
Chopper, Paladin + Variant Aasimar: A mighty protector + Respected race with a niche language...but an easily recognizable race (-Stealth)
Robin, Warlock + Half Elf: Her min-maxing nature and dark sense of humor + racial traits that befits her character (more on this below...)
Franky, Bard + Stout Halfling: Plays the guitar (dulcimer?) to inspire the crew + stout resilience to poison from years of soda stream in his veins
Brook, Beast-Master Ranger + Human: Laboon-like companion (or outright Laboon summoning) + Roleplaying his non-skeletal days
Jinbe, Fighter + Aarakocra: Straightforward for him to understand + Mobility in the air is valuable, like Fishmen are to DF-users in One Piece
---
Min-max Robin: lvl 17 Warlock for 9th level spells like 'Power Word Kill', lvl 2 bard for 'Jack of All Trades' like a true scholar might find useful & 1 lvl rogue to select 2 proficiency expertise for stuff like History, Insight or Investigation --- Half Elf to get 4 extra ability score, darkvision combined with 'darkness' for advantage, Fey ancestry to resist common charm and sleep, skill versatility to capitalize on rogue expertise & 1 language for races like Giant (jaguar d saul tribute maybe)... ... ...What do you think? I'd love to know :]
Tell me One Piece is on hiatus whithout telling me One Piece is on hiatus:
Just kidding, love all of yout videos Tekking ❤
i never knew i wanted this until now . i really want a slice of slice one piece spin off .
I can actually kind of see Sanji being a Bard
Now that you mention it, all of the Straw hats, except Zoro, are people that would actually enjoy D&D, except that they live in a world where devil fruits exist. Also, I think Nami would also DM well, just because of her knowledge of environments. I was a part of a 30 person session once, and that was crazy. I have run groups of 8 personally, and that can be rough.
OH MY GOD thanks so much for this I always wanted to know how to play One Piece DND
...Kidding!
This is a dream come true
How about a video where you do go in depth on what classes the Straw Hats would be if they were in dnd.
Like Nami could be a thief because they have the subclass ability to use any magical weapon, or arcane trickster because she's a magical spell casting rogue, or even just a rogue/wizard multiclass.
What I meant to say was good video, I enjoy the One Piece and D&D content =)
now I want Oda to make a cover story of the straw hats playing dnd
Without even watching the rest of the video (I'm at the part where he starts to talk about dming but haven't got any names yet)
In my personal opinion, Ussop would be a great dm. I feel like he'd be the kind of person that'd go full on in detail with the world and, yeah he'd probably get mad when Luffy decides to ignore it for a different adventure. But I can just imagine him planning for any circumstance that could happen and always have a fun adventure waiting for them, along with the most crazy creatures ever in his campaign. Maybe the Island sized fish even makes an appearance
Break Month is almost over Tekking. We await you at your full power.
The largest game i was in was 7 people not counting the dm. I run a game for 5 people but one more will be joining(technically rejoining). I would prefer to run the game for 4 but 5 makes scheduling easier because we like to have at least 3 people in a session.
DnD night on the Sunny would be a great color spread.
I genially thought you were making a new series for playing DND but with one piece I was so exited 😢
Loved old Tony may he rest in piece and also loved William D. Chapstin
