HELLO!! Yes I have made a new desc template! ✨
Anyway I have shown sneak peeks of this video before and I was planning on reaching to the end of the song but yeah my phone started being uncooperative so the video was shelved.
But I loved these characters sm I had to save the video! I had to unfortunately shorten it
This was supposed to be a one off music video but I might expand more on these characters because I love them sm ♥️
But since there won’t be much content for a while I thought in here I’d share the story on how they met!
[ “PENPAL” by Brii ]
It’s February 2016 and our story is set in the Lower East Side of New York City. A boy by the name of Sylvester is seen with his mom selling waffles at their cart, “Ma why’d you have to take me everytime you go to work??” Sylvester complained. “Stop complaining Ves- No one will be home to watch you. Besides, we don't have enough money for a nanny” his mother replied.
“We never have money for anything” Sylvester mumbled.
“I heard that.” his mother “Sylvester I know we don’t have much money right now but we’re lucky enough to have a place to live in, you’re able to go to school and we have this cart.” she spoke in an irritated tone “I know I knowww… I get it.” Sylvester buries his face on the cart trying to power through the boredom. His mother’s face softens and decides to make a suggestion, “..Hey how bout you go hang out at the park just over there? Who knows- maybe you’ll finally find a friend” she points at the Seward Park which is just nearby. Sylvester looks over at the park and reluctantly replies “Sure.. I guess.”.
His mother gives Sylvester a waffle and a kiss on the cheek “Stay safe Ves” she said “Yeah I will Ma” he replies while eating his waffle.
“Love you”
“Yeah I’ll see you later Ma”
As Sylvester makes his way to the park the first person he sees is a girl drawing while sitting on a swing. She had a dark brown afro with golden eyes. The golden eyes stood out to Sylvester since he has never seen them before on anyone. But he didn’t think much of it and just took a walk around the park.
When he circled back to where he started and saw a drawing fall on the ground, he picked it up and it looks like a fashion design sketch. “UHM EXCUSE ME! THAT’S MINE!”, Sylvester looks up to see the girl running up to him but she trips and sprains her ankle, “OW!” she shouted. Sylvester immediately ran to her and picked her up as he lets her arm rest on her shoulder, “You doing ok??” he worryingly asked “Yeah- my ankle just hurts” she replied
“Is anyone here with you?” Sylvester questioned “No it’s just me here” she replied.
“Oh geez- ok let me take you to my mom! She could help”
“Where is she?”
“She’s not far”
“Oh ok..”
“Uh I’m Sylvester”
“...I’m Renee”
The two kids walk over to Sylvester’s mother, “Oh what happened?!” she asked as she walked over to them, “Renee sprained her ankle”. Sylvester’s mom then tends to Renee’s ankle.
“Thank you so much uhm…”
“Just call me Auntie Mia”
“Thank you Ms,Mia”
Sylvester then notices that he’s still holding Renee’s drawing, “Here you go by the way” Sylvester said as he handed over Renee’s drawing, “oh thanks” Renee answers with a shy tone.
“Ok how is that honey?” Mia asks, “Hm I think I can sorta walk home..” Renee replies.
“Oh sweetie you should rest”
“But my curfew is in a few minutes, and my parents will ground me if I’m late”
“Do you want me to walk with you home? Uh I can be there for support!” Sylvester asked “Oh that’s a great idea Ves! Is that alright with you Renee?” Mia asked, “...Ok sure” Renee agrees,
On their way to Renee’s house Sylvester tried to spark a conversation with Renee,
“Soo do you do fashion design?”
“Oh uhm, yeah I do I guess. I can’t really bring them to life because I can’t afford the cloth”
“Well hope you’ll do! The design I saw was great”
“Uhm, thank you”
“If you need a model call me up”
“Really?”
“I-I mean uh..I was joking”
“Aw too bad. You’re an ok looking guy”
“Wait, you were willing? I mean ok?? You sure?”
“Fineee you’re a good looking guy”
“Heh that’s what I like to hear”
They soon arrived at Renee’s apartment and Renee said “Ok I’m feeling a lot better now, I think i can get up on my own”, “Alright! See you around” Sylvester replies as he is about to leave.
“Wait!” Renee exclaims
“Uhm yes?”
“Well uhm…Do you want to stay in contact?”
“Oh.. sorry I don’t have a phone”
“Me neither! I was uh thinking we could write?..Penpals?”
“..Sure! Hm can you hand me your sketchbook?”
Renee hands over her sketchbook and pencil. Sylvester then opens the sketchbook to the last page and writes his address, he gives back the sketchbook and makes his way out.
“See you friend!”
“Friend?”

idk how to explain it but the different things that happen (the presents being boxed up, the transition into the beach, etc.) and the story board in general are so clever and well thought out, not to mention the gorgeous characters
